Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the combined influence of student discipline and learning facilities on teachers’ motivation in public elementary schools in Sako District, Palembang, Indonesia. Employing a descriptive quantitative method, the research was conducted across 10 schools over six months (June-November 2025). The population comprised 225 teachers (civil servants, contract, and honorary staff), with a sample of 69 respondents determined through appropriate calculations. Data collection utilized questionnaires, observations, and documentation, while analysis involved normality, linearity, and multicollinearity tests, alongside simple and multiple correlation analysis, regression analysis, t-tests, and F-tests. The findings reveal a significant combined influence of student discipline and learning facilities on teacher motivation. Notably, the magnitude of this combined influence contributes 99.2% to teachers’ motivation, indicating an exceptionally strong predictive relationship. The novelty of this study lies in its quantitative demonstration of the near-total combined effect of these two specific school environment factors on teacher motivation within the Indonesian elementary school context, moving beyond isolated examinations of each variable. Practically, these findings underscore for school administrators and policymakers the critical importance of simultaneously fostering student discipline and improving learning facilities as dual strategies to enhance teacher motivation. This study contributes to educational management literature by providing robust empirical evidence on the synergistic impact of student behavior and physical resources on teacher morale, highlighting their interdependence in shaping a motivating work environment.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of holistic leadership in strengthening character education amidst the challenges of the digital era at SDN 17 Tungkal Ilir, Indonesia. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation analysis involving the principal, teachers, and community stakeholders. The findings reveal a three-tier strategic framework: first, the principal serves as the primary role model through a consistent “5S” culture (Greet, Smile, Salutation, Politeness, Courtesy), creating a ripple effect of integrity; second, character values are internalized through structured routines, including the “7 Habits of Happy Kids” program, daily reflection journals, and Scouting as a character laboratory for discipline and independence; third, the school establishes a “School Fortress” (Benteng Sekolah) by integrating formal partnerships with the Police and parents to mitigate external negative influences such as online gambling and gadget addiction. The study concludes that holistic leadership, which synchronizes exemplary behavior, consistent habituation, and cross-sectoral collaboration, effectively fortifies student character even within resource-constrained and technologically challenging environments. The novelty lies in the integrated framework combining role modeling, structured routines, and external partnerships as a unified response to digital-era moral risks. Practically, this model offers a replicable strategy for schools facing similar challenges. The study contributes to educational leadership literature by demonstrating how holistic leadership can transcend conventional teaching to address structural constraints and moral degradation risks in contemporary schooling contexts.

Abstract

Multicultural education has a strategic role in shaping the character of a nation that is tolerant, inclusive, and able to live in harmony in the midst of the diversity that exists in Indonesia. This research aims to analyze how multicultural education can be optimized through three main aspects: the role of policies and curriculum, implementation practices in boarding schools, and the challenges of digital technology globalization. This research method uses a literature study approach, data is collected through books, journal articles, policy documents, and academic publication data. Data was analyzed using content analysis techniques by examining various scientific sources relevant to education policies, multicultural implementation models, and digital social dynamics in society. The results of the study show that national policies and curricula play an important role as a foundation for integrating multicultural values, while schools and Islamic boarding schools are the main focus in getting used to the values of tolerance and learning practices. However, the era of digital globalization has created new challenges that can threaten the formation of a tolerant character of students. Therefore, strengthening multicultural education needs to be accompanied by critical digital literacy and collaboration between institutions to be able to create an educational ecosystem that is adaptive to the times. This research emphasizes that multicultural education that is integrated with educational policies, practices, and digital literacy is an effective strategy in strengthening the nation's character in the global and digital era.

Abstract

This study investigated the instructional impact of Augmented Reality (AR) integration through Assemblr Edu on junior high school students’ descriptive writing within the competency framework of Kurikulum Merdeka Phase D. A quasi-experimental design involving 56 seventh-grade students was implemented using a non-equivalent control group structure. Students’ writing performance was measured through analytic scoring of pre- and post-tests, and the data were analyzed using non-parametric statistics due to non-normal distribution. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test indicated significant improvement within the AR-supported group with a large practical effect. Furthermore, the Mann–Whitney U test was conducted to compare post-test scores between groups, showing that although the difference was statistically meaningful, the conventionally taught group demonstrated a larger raw score gain, which should be interpreted in relation to baseline differences between groups. The contribution of this study lies in positioning AR not merely as a technological intervention but as a pedagogically mediated instructional tool. While earlier studies frequently emphasize motivational benefits, this research combines performance-based assessment with instructional design considerations. The findings suggest that AR supports idea generation and descriptive elaboration through visual scaffolding, yet its effectiveness depends on structured guidance, duration of exposure, and teacher facilitation. Overall, the results indicate that the influence of educational technology on writing development emerges primarily from pedagogical orchestration that structures the use of digital affordances within instructional practice.

Abstract

Food sovereignty is a strategic pillar in maintaining national sustainability and supporting the stability of national defense and security. Dependence on food imports, unequal distribution, climate change, and global geopolitical dynamics have the potential to weaken national resilience if not managed comprehensively. This article aims to analyze the concept and role of food sovereignty from the perspective of Indonesia’s national defense and security, and to identify its strategic implications for strengthening national resilience. This research uses a literature review method by reviewing various scientific sources, including reputable national and international journals, academic books, government policy documents, and reports from related institutions relevant to food, defense, and national security issues. The results of the study indicate that food sovereignty functions not only as an instrument for meeting the basic needs of the community but also as a strategic non-military element in the national defense system. Strengthening food sovereignty contributes to social stability, controlling potential conflicts, increasing national resilience against non-traditional threats, and strengthening the country’s bargaining position in the global arena. Therefore, integrating food policy with national defense and security policy is an urgent strategic necessity. This article recommends the need for a cross-sectoral approach, strengthening the role of the state, and synergy between defense, security, and food development actors to support sustainable national resilience and sovereignty.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of principals' participative leadership and school organizational culture on teacher performance in rural primary schools in Kinal District, Kaur Regency, Indonesia. Employing a quantitative survey design, data were collected from 44 teachers across four public primary schools using a census technique. Structured questionnaires measuring participative leadership, organizational culture, and teacher performance were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 20. The results reveal that participative leadership has a significant positive effect on teacher performance (t = 3.482, p = 0.001), and organizational culture similarly demonstrates a significant positive effect (t = 2.967, p = 0.005). Simultaneously, both variables explain 47.9% of the variance in teacher performance (F = 18.742, p < 0.001, R² = 0.479). The study concludes that when principals actively involve teachers in decision-making and foster a collaborative, disciplined school culture, teacher performance improves substantially. The novelty lies in the integrated examination of both variables within the underexplored context of rural Indonesian primary schools, addressing a gap in national educational management literature. Practically, the findings recommend that principals adopt participative practices through formal and informal forums, strengthen organizational culture via shared values and teamwork, and prioritize these strategies particularly in resource-constrained rural settings. This study contributes to educational leadership and organizational behavior literature by empirically confirming the combined influence of participative leadership and organizational culture on teacher performance, providing evidence-based insights for school management policies, leadership training, and professional development initiatives in rural primary education.

Abstract

This study examines the role of digitalization and higher education in trade performance in Southeast Asia by considering private sector financing as a mediating variable. The analysis is motivated by the growing importance of digital transformation and human capital quality as key determinants of trade performance in the context of global economic dynamics, as well as the role of financial systems in supporting real sector activities. The study adopts an explanatory quantitative approach using panel data from six Southeast Asian countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Singapore covering the period 2015–2024, sourced from the World Bank. Data analysis is conducted using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with a bootstrapping procedure to examine both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results indicate that digitalization plays a significant role in enhancing trade performance and is also significantly associated with private sector financing. Higher education is found to play a significant role in trade performance, but it does not show a significant relationship with private sector financing. Furthermore, private sector financing does not exhibit a significant role in trade performance and does not function as a mediating variable in the relationships between digitalization and trade performance, nor between higher education and trade performance. These findings suggest that the contributions of digitalization and higher education to trade performance in Southeast Asia tend to be direct, while the role of private sector financing as a transmission mechanism remains structurally constrained.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategies of the Muhammadiyah Zakat, Infaq, and Charity Institution (LAZISMU) in Medan City in strengthening da’wah bil hal through zakat, infaq, and charity (ZIS) programs amid the dynamics of a heterogeneous urban society. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving administrators, donors, and beneficiaries. Data analysis uses an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while data validity is maintained through triangulation and member checking techniques. The results of the study indicate that LAZISMU Medan City implements an integrated communication strategy by combining interpersonal communication and digital media. Direct approaches such as visits, socialization, and community involvement have proven effective in building trust and emotional closeness with donors. Meanwhile, the use of digital media such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook plays an important role in expanding the reach of information, increasing transparency, and encouraging public participation. The implementation of da’wah bil hal through ZIS programs in education, humanitarian social, and economic empowerment fields show a shift from a charitable approach to empowerment, thereby providing tangible social, economic, and spiritual impacts for the beneficiaries.
