Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between self-awareness and self-efficacy in career decision-making. The research approach used is quantitative with a correlational method. The sampling technique employs proportional random sampling, with a sample size of 72 students. Data collection techniques use psychological scales. The instruments used are self-awareness, self-efficacy, and decision-making psychology scales, which the researcher developed. The results of this study are as follows: 1) On average, students have moderate levels of self-awareness and self-efficacy and high levels of career decision-making; 2) There is a positive relationship between self-awareness and career decision-making, with an obtained value of r = 0.407 (p= 0.000; p<0.05); 3) There is a non-significant relationship between self-efficacy and career decision-making, with a value of r = 0.038 (p= 0.751; p>0.05); 4) Simultaneously, there is a significant positive relationship with a moderate correlation level between self-awareness and self-efficacy with career decision-making, with an obtained value of R = 0.409 (p= 0.002; p<0.05). Overall, the results of this study indicate that the higher the self-awareness and self-efficacy, the higher the students' career decision-making, and vice versa.

Abstract

Several factors, including internal and external factors, often cause academic hardiness in students. This research aims to analyze the influence of student self-esteem as a student's internal factor and peer social support as a student's external factor on students' level of academic hardiness. This research uses a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. This research was conducted on 350 public high school students in Central Semarang District who were taken using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The instruments used in this research were the self-esteem scale (29 valid items α = .926), the peer social support scale (27 valid items α = .895), and the academic hardiness scale (24 valid items α = .845). The data was analyzed using multiple regression tests and met the classical test. The results show p-value = .000 (p <0.05). The coefficient of determination value shows that self-esteem and social support from peers influence academic hardiness by 44,6%. Meanwhile, some of it is influenced by other variables outside the research. This research impacts guidance and counseling teachers and counselors so they can provide services to increase self-esteem, peer social support, and student academic hardiness.

Respondents in this study amounted to 12 students who were taken using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was an adaptation of the aggressive scale from Buss & Perry (1992). The instrument consists of 30 items with a validity value of > 0.3 and a reliability of .912. The results of the paired t-test showed p=.002; p < 0.05. That is, group counseling of self-control techniques based on Surah Al-Imran Verse 134 is effective for overcoming students' aggressive behavior.

Abstract

The article describes a quantitative research study that examined the prevalence of abuse and neglect present in the life histories among a sample population in Brunei Darussalam. Data were gathered using the most standardized inventory in the field which was adapted to Bruneian context and used to measure incidents and types of abuse and neglect. A sample population of 112 participants drawn from two educational sites completed the Adverse Childhood Experiences International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ) with a 100% return data. The findings show that the most prevalence abuse and neglect among the participants were emotional and physical abuse as well as neglect. The study concludes that participants who reported any single form of abuse and neglect were likely to have suffered other types of abuse and neglect, and the most consistently strong correlations were between abuse of alcohol intoxication and several types of abuse, including sexual abuse with intercourse reported by the participants. The findings conclude that the most prevalence abuse was emotional abuse (91%), followed by physical and emotional neglect (59%) and physical abuse (46%). The lowest prevalence of abuse reported by the participants was sexual abuse (26%).

Abstract

This study aims to measure the contribution of self-compassion to the body image of students of SMKN 1 Karanganyar. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach with an ex-post-facto design. The sample in this study amounted to 279 students from a total population of 926 students who were taken using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used is a self-compassion scale developed by researchers based on Neff's (2015) theory, which totals 29 items, and a body image scale developed based on Cash and Pruzinsky's (2002) theory, totaling 41 items. The validity test results for the self-compassion scale get a value range of 0.493-0.731, and the body image scale has a value range of 0.271-0.659. The reliability test results of the self-compassion scale obtained results of 0.918 and the body image scale of 0.947. Hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis with the results showed that self-compassion contributed 31.4% with the coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.314, ρ < 0.05). Based on these results, it can be seen that self-compassion significantly influences body image in SMK Negeri 1 Karanganyar students. Future researchers can research other variables that affect body image, such as gratitude, self-esteem, and social comparison.

Abstract

Mental health literacy is needed so that Santris better understands the dynamics within themselves and knows the risk factors that can disrupt their mental health. The growth of Santri's psycho-social problems such as bullying, theft, and running away from the dormitory is not far from mental health literacy, especially in managing mood. The obstacles experienced by Islamic boarding schools are the density of education programs and the need for more human resources, such as guidance and counseling teachers in Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, researchers offer a solution through developing a self-help book. The research aims to test self-help books to increase mental health literacy. The method used was quasi-experimental with a sample of 58 santris at the Peradaban Islamic Boarding School. Sample selection was carried out using purposive sampling. Mental health literacy was measured using a Mental Health Literacy Questionnaire (MHLQ). The Self-Help book has been proven effective for developing Santris' mental health literacy, based on differences in mental health literacy scores before (x̄ =114) and after(x̄ =119) Santris read and follow guided exercises in self-help books (p = .000, p < .05). The change in the mental health literacy dimension that has increased the most is the resource dimension (ability to manage self and maintain mental health). The experience of reading and following the guidelines in self-help books makes Santris more capable of managing themselves, as well as having basic skills in coping strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group guidance services utilizing self-management techniques in reducing stress levels in Muslim mothers who work and have early adolescent children. The type of research used was experimental research. The research sample was 12 subjects at high-stress levels determined by a proportionate stratified random sampling technique with an error tolerance of 5%. Subjects were divided into two groups with different treatments. The experimental group was given group guidance services using self-management techniques, and the control group was given guidance services using lecture techniques. The instrument used was a stress scale with 11 items adapted from the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scalle-42 (DASS-42) (Lovibond & Lovibond, 1995) with a reliability of .891. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test with a p-value = .002 (p<.05). The results showed a significant post-test difference between the stress levels of the experimental group and the control group, so it was concluded that group guidance utilizing self-management techniques was effective for reducing stress levels in working Muslim mothers with early adolescent children.
