Abstract

Based on various definitions, adolescence is an important transition phase from childhood to adulthood, with an age range that varies between 10-19 years (WHO) to 10-24 years (BKKBN), characterized by significant physical, mental, emotional, and social development. Teenagers are currently facing serious health challenges, especially the increased risk of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Type 2, driven by a sedentary lifestyle, lack of nutritional awareness, and high consumption of junk food and sweet drinks, of which around 80-85% of DM patients also experience obesity. Because conventional education is considered less interesting and less interactive, community service intervention was carried out on 25 junior high school students (Grades 7, 8, and 9) using educational ladder snake creation boards to increase early awareness of the dangers of DM. The pre-test showed a very low level of knowledge, with only 1 out of 25 students (4%) able to explain DM (only as "sugar disease"). After an interactive and participatory education session, the post-test showed a significant and drastic increase in knowledge, where 17 out of 25 students (68%) were able to explain DM in detail. Although there is a difference in success between classes (Grade 8 reaches 100% and Grade 7 only 36%), this result proves that the educational ladder snake game is a very effective and superior intervention tool to overcome the knowledge gap and encourage healthy behavior changes among adolescents, in line with previous research that shows the effectiveness of board games in health promotion.

Abstract

Hypertension is a health problem with increasing prevalence among the elderly in Indonesia, including in Sukoharjo Regency. This outreach program aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of hypertension among the elderly through educational posters at the Jatimalang Elderly Community Health Post (Posyandu Lansia Jatimalang) in Joho Village, Mojolaban. The method used was a combination of interactive lectures and hypertension exercises, supported by the visual media "PATUH" posters to facilitate understanding of the educational material. Forty elderly participants participated in a series of activities, including exercises, outreach, and a question-and-answer session. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants' understanding of the risk factors, symptoms, and prevention efforts for hypertension. Posters proved effective in increasing information absorption and motivation among the elderly to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The main obstacles were limited time for the education and hearing impairments of some participants. It is recommended that this activity be expanded and accompanied by innovations in other, more interactive educational media to support sustainable hypertension prevention.

Abstract

Hypertension during pregnancy is one of the leading causes of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, which can be prevented through balanced nutrition education and light physical activity. The Gerakan Bumil Sehat (Healthy Pregnant Movement) program was implemented as a promotive and preventive intervention to improve pregnant women’s knowledge and awareness in preventing gestational hypertension. This activity was conducted in October 2025 at the Bentakan Village Hall, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency, involving eight pregnant women. The implementation stages included preparation, delivery of balanced nutrition education, light physical exercise through prenatal yoga, and evaluation of participants’ understanding. The main educational media used was the booklet “Hypertension in Pregnant Women.” The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, with 75% achieving a good level of understanding after the education, compared to only 12.5% before the program. Participants also demonstrated positive attitudes toward maintaining healthy eating habits and engaging in regular light physical activities. The discussion revealed that combining nutrition education and prenatal physical exercise effectively reduces the risk of gestational hypertension by enhancing knowledge, encouraging behavioral change, and strengthening social support among pregnant women. It can be concluded that the Gerakan Bumil Sehat program plays an important role in promoting healthy lifestyles among pregnant women as a preventive effort against gestational hypertension.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that impacts children's growth and development. Repeated cultural practices within the community can influence stunting prevalence. This activity aims to provide outreach and education on stunting management in Tanjung Gunung Village, Pangkalan Baru District, Central Bangka Regency in 2025, targeting children aged 12–59 months. The study used qualitative methods with purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with four mothers with stunted children, as well as two triangulation informants: a village midwife and a village cadre. Seven variables were found to influence stunting incidence, including parenting patterns, children's diet, maternal knowledge, pregnancy spacing, number of children, economic status, and environmental factors. Cultural factors inherited and practiced from generation to generation have been shown to influence parenting and diet patterns, thus impacting the increase in stunting incidence. Local culture-based education and outreach are needed to change community behavior, reduce risk factors, and decrease stunting rates in Tanjung Gunung Village.
