Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of implementing a Weigh In Motion (WIM) system on the traffic performance of freight vehicles on the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road. The WIM was installed in response to the Circular Letter of the Minister of Transportation No. 116 of 2021 and functions as an automated enforcement technology to prevent Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL) vehicles from entering the toll road. The research method used was a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design with a descriptive-comparative quantitative approach. Secondary data was obtained from the toll road operator (PT Hutama Karya), covering three months before (December 2023 - February 2024) and three months after (March 2024 - May 2024) the WIM installation at four main toll gates. Three performance variables were analyzed: total traffic volume, average speed of freight vehicles, and the number of accidents involving freight vehicles. The analysis results show that after the WIM installation, there were changes with substantial practical significance: (1) total traffic volume decreased by 7.08% (from an average of 72,358 to 67,233 vehicles/month), indicating a filtering effect on ODOL vehicles; (2) the average speed of freight vehicles increased by 10.41% (from 29.88 km/h to 32.99 km/h), as an impact of improved traffic stream homogeneity; and (3) the number of freight vehicle accidents dropped sharply by 50% (from 2.67 to 1.33 incidents/month), with a large effect size (Cohen's d) of 1.155. The study concludes that WIM is effective not only as an enforcement tool but also as a traffic management instrument that creates a beneficial trade-off: a limited reduction in volume is exchanged for increased efficiency and, most importantly, a highly significant improvement in safety. This research recommends the expansion of WIM to other strategic toll road sections and further studies with longer observation periods and quasi-experimental designs.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of packaging, digital information, and crowd logistics on distribution performance and their implications for last-mile delivery among food and beverage SMEs utilizing online transportation services in Bandung, Indonesia. The rapid growth of digital-based delivery services has increased operational complexity in urban logistics, particularly regarding delivery accuracy, timeliness, and distribution effectiveness. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using survey data collected from 131 SMEs selected through probability sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS. The findings reveal that packaging, digital information, and crowd logistics positively and significantly affect both distribution and last-mile delivery. In addition, distribution has a positive and significant effect on last-mile delivery performance. Mediation analysis further confirms that distribution partially mediates the relationships between packaging, digital information, crowd logistics, and last-mile delivery. These findings indicate that effective distribution systems strengthen the influence of operational, physical, and digital factors on final delivery performance. This study contributes to the logistics and supply chain literature by proposing an integrative framework that simultaneously combines packaging, digital information, and crowd-based logistics dimensions within a unified last-mile delivery model for online transportation-based SMEs.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) on Service Level Agreement (SLA) achievement through Actual System Use in last-mile logistics operations at SiCepat Ekspres. Utilizing a quantitative approach and variance-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), data were collected from 278 operational employees. Six TAM constructs Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), Trust, Perceived Risk, Organizational Readiness, and Social Influence were examined as independent variables, with Actual System Use as mediating variable and SLA as the dependent variable. Results reveal that Social Influence is the strongest predictor of Actual System Use (β = 0.420), while Actual System Use significantly drives SLA achievement (β = 0.585). The model explains 75.5% of SLA variance, underscoring the central role of actual technology use as a strategic mediator in the TAM–SLA relationship within last-mile logistics operations.

Abstract

In the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, the return of products to the warehouse is often an unplanned occurrence with an uncertain quantity, but the academic research on this is still not as advanced as the practice. Previous research is contradictory about the effect of return volume uncertainty, return information quality, and return decision quality on the operational performance of a warehouse, and the link between those variables through the reverse process effectiveness is not yet conclusively proven, particularly in the FMCG warehouse in Indonesia. In this study, return volume uncertainty, return information quality and return decision quality are directly and indirectly tested for their impacts on warehouse operational performance, while the reverse process effectiveness acts as a mediator. The data was obtained from 138 employees, supervisors, and managers in warehouses at FMCG companies in Indonesia based on cross-sectional survey analysis using the method of Partial Least Squares (PLS) Structural Equation Modeling. Return information quality had a direct impact on warehouse operational performance, whereas return volume uncertainty and return decision quality only had indirect implications when they had an impact on reverse process effectiveness. The novelty here is to demonstrate that the effectiveness of reverse process can serve as the hinge on which the benefits of information quality, decision quality and volume-uncertainty management can become tangible in the warehouse.

Abstract

Abstract

One of decisive challenges faced within business-to-business (B2B) logistics industry is maintaining customer loyalty due to customer expectations and inconsistent findings increasement regarding its determinants. The impacts analysis towards service reliability and value, also timeliness onto customer loyalty were developed extensively in this research, using relationship marketing as well customer satisfaction for corporate logistics services at PT Pos Indonesia (Persero). A quantitative descriptive-verificative methodology was applied. Purposive sampling technique was used to collect 157 corporate customers data eligibly in Regional 2 Jakarta to get examined with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Test outcome explains service reliability (β = 0.279; t = 2.298) and timeliness (β = 0.426; t = 3.529) significantly affect relationship marketing, whereas service value does not (β = 0.155; t = 1.166). Significant influence delivered by relationship marketing onto customer satisfaction with (β = 0.809; t = 20.776) while loyalty contributed (β = 0.330; t = 3.623), meanwhile satisfaction notably affects loyalty (β = 0.558; t = 6.819). Relationship marketing mediates only the effect of timeliness on customer loyalty, whereas relationship mediation was delivered by satisfaction onto marketing relation towards customer loyalty, highlighting sequential relational mechanisms in corporate logistics. These findings provide theoretical and managerial implications for improving customer retention strategies in B2B corporate logistics services.
