Abstract

Background: University students, especially those in demanding programs like occupational therapy, often face significant academic pressure, social obligations, and complicated personal responsibilities. This situation presents major obstacles to managing time effectively and achieving a healthy work-life balance. In this context, life balance refers not merely to an equal distribution of time between academic work and personal life, but rather to an individual's subjective perception of fulfilling their needs across various life domains, including academics, social life, recreation, and personal well-being (Greenhaus et al., 2003; Marks & MacDermid, 1996).This study examines the time management patterns of occupational therapy students and how these patterns influence their perception of life balance. Objectives: This study is supposed to investigate time management and life balance among occupational therapy students. Methods: This qualitative study involved 6-8 participants who met the following criteria: (1) aged 18-24 years, (2) currently enrolled as active students (not on academic leave) at Poltekkes Surakarta, and (3) willing to participate as research respondents. Results: The majority of interviewed students reported difficulties in managing their time to achieve life balance, with challenges arising from both internal and external factors. Conclusion: Students need to develop effective time management skills and prioritize important activities to achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Keyword: Life balance, time use, students

Abstract

Background: Language development in early childhood is a crucial aspect influenced by the social environment, especially the role of parents as the child's closest figures. Parents play a strategic role in providing stimuli that accelerate children's language acquisition through communication, interaction, and modeling. Objectives: This article aims to examine the role of parents in the language development of early childhood through a theoretical review using a bibliometric approach. Methods: The method employed involves bibliometric analysis supported by Publish or Perish software for metadata collection and VOSviewer for literature mapping. Results: show that the keywords "early childhood," "language development," and "parental role" dominate the relevant literature, with high frequency and strong relevance scores. Visual mapping also reveals that the connection between parental roles and children's language development is a central theme with clear thematic clustering. Conclusion: In conclusion, parental involvement is crucial in supporting early childhood language development, in line with Vygotsky's perspective on the importance of social interaction and scaffolding in children's language acquisition.  Keywords : Parental Role, Language Development, Early Childhood, Vygotsky, Bibliometric

Abstract

Background: Elderly people experience various changes, one of which is cognitive changes due to shrinkage in the brain area, especially in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, which affect cognitive function and quality of life. Game activity group therapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention to stimulate and slow down cognitive decline by training aspects of cognitive function such as attention, memory, language, visuospatial, calculation, and executive. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of game activity group therapy on the cognitive function of the elderly in Sawahan Kidul Hamlet, Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency. Methods: Pre-experimental quantitative research with one group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 30 samples. The instrument used was MoCa-Ina. The hypothesis test used was paired sample t-test Results: The results of this study were dominated by elderly people aged 60-69 years as many as 24 samples (80%) and elderly women as many as 25 samples (83.3%). The pretest results showed an average score of 18.40 and the posttest results showed an average score of 21.17. The data normality test used Shapiro-Wilk with a p-value in the pre-test of 0.474 and a post-test of 0.897, indicating a p-value (> 0.05). Hypothesis testing using the paired t-test showed a p-value = 0.000. Conclusion: There is an influence of game activity group therapy on the cognitive function of the elderly in Sawahan Kidul Hamlet, Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency. The results of this study are expected to be a choice of therapeutic activities to improve cognitive function in the elderly and individuals with cognitive disorders. Abstract

Background: Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder affecting reading skills, especially phonological awareness and language processing. Multisensory speech therapy based on Amthal (Quranic parables) offers rhythmic stimulation, symbolic meaning, and cultural contexts that can enhance neuroplasticity and reading abilities in children with dyslexia. Objectives: This study aims to explore the potential of Amthal verses as a speech therapy medium that integrates melody, symbolic meaning, and multisensory stimulation to improve reading skills and brain activation in children with dyslexia. Methods: A qualitative literature review was conducted, synthesizing scientific and theoretical sources related to neurocognition, neuroplasticity, and multisensory speech therapy to identify mechanisms of Amthal use in therapy. Results: Findings indicate that Amthal verses contain rhythmic linguistic patterns enhancing phonological awareness through superior temporal gyrus activation; culturally meaningful contexts strengthen emotional engagement via cortisol reduction and ventral striatum activation; and visual metaphors support semantic processing via fusiform gyrus and hippocampus integration. Conclusion: Quranic Amthal verses serve as an effective therapeutic medium within multisensory speech therapy for dyslexic children, offering holistic neurocognitive and cultural benefits. This approach is promising as an evidence-based intervention in the Indonesian context. Keywords: Amthal, Dyslexia, Multisensory speech therapy, Neuroplasticity, Local culture
