Abstract

Background: Down syndrome is a genetic abnormality, leading to impaired intellectual development, caused by chromosomal abnormalities. Turn-taking is a fundamental aspect of the interaction because it is difficult to talk and Listen at the same time. Taking turns plays an important role in the communication process, as it can affect syntactic abilities.  Objectives: This study aims to determine the relationship between turn-taking ability and syntactic ability of children with down syndrome in Surakarta. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sampling procedure applied was purposive sampling, with a total of 30 participants. The data obtained in this study were analyzed through univariate and bivariate methods. The statistical test used is the Spearman's Rank test. Results: The results of data analysis showed that the results of turn-taking ability in children with Down syndrome were mostly classified as adequate (60%) and the results of syntactic ability in children with Down syndrome were mostly classified as moderate (50%). The Spearman Rank test states that the value of ρ = 0.013 means that the value of ρ < 0.05 then Ha is accepted with a correlation (r) = 0.048 meaning that there is a positive correlation with the medium category. Conclusion: There is a relationship between turn-taking ability and syntactic ability in children with Down syndrome in Surakarta. Keywords: Down syndrome, Turn-taking ability, Syntactic ability

Abstract

Background: Decreased cognitive function is one of the impacts of the aging process in the elderly, which begins with a decrease in memory. This can also have an impact on the decline in the ability to speak, understand space, and the ability to judge and pay attention will result in inhibition of long-term memory and information processing in the elderly. If not treated properly, the decline in cognitive function can lead to dementia which results in decreased intellectual function and memory. Brain Gym is a collection of movement exercises that increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain, and stimulate the right and left brain to improve concentration and memory. Objectives: To determine the effect of Brain Gym on improving cognitive function in elderly people at risk of dementia at PSTW Budi Mulia 1. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental method with a one group pre-test and post-test approach. A total of 18 people who have met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Measuring instrument used MMSE. Results: Of all the research objects, the average result of cognitive function before intervention was 17.94 and after intervention 24.72. Hypothesis testing shows there is an effect of Brain Gym on improving cognitive function. Conclusion: Brain Gym has an effect on improving cognitive function in elderly people with dementia risk at Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 1. Abstract

Background: Community Health Centers are first-level health service facilities that play an important role in organizing public health efforts and first-level individual health efforts, by prioritizing promotive and preventive efforts, to achieve the highest level of public health in their working areas. Physiotherapy is one of the innovative services in Community Health Centers by prioritizing promotive and preventive services without neglecting curative and rehabilitative efforts in accordance with Permenkes No. 65 of 2015. Therefore, the implementation of ideal promotive and preventive physiotherapy services in Community Health Centers is needed to achieve the goals of health transformation, the pillar of primary service transformation, namely strengthening promotive preventive activities to create more healthy people, improving health screening and increasing the capacity of primary services. Objectives: This study aims to analyze to determine the description of promotive physiotherapy services in the Klaten district. Methods: This study uses a qualitative research methodology with a phenomenological approach to see an in-depth description of promotive physiotherapy services in Community Health Centers in the Klaten area. Results: The results obtained showed that 29 physiotherapists at the Health Center had provided promotive services in the form of counseling, screening and consultation to target communities including toddlers, school children, adolescents, the elderly and certain communities. Conclusion: Promotive physiotherapy services at the Klaten Health Center that have been carried out are in the form of counseling, screening and consultation, the promotive form is education related to LBP, OA, early detection of falls, elderly health, and others. Abstract

Background: The use of AAC (augmentative alternative communication) as a communication used for people with cerebral palsy needs to be used habitually in the living environment of people with cerebral palsy. The habituation refers to the behavioristic theory that language development requires a habituation exercise with the use of operant conditioning. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of the application of augmentative alternative communication on receptive language skills in children with cerebral palsy at Yayasan Pangon Utomo Surakarta. Methods: This type of research is experimental research with a quantitative approach. This study uses a one group pretest-posttest design where in this study make observations before receiving treatment and compare with the results of observations after receiving treatment. The population in this study were cerebral palsy children and the samples used amounted to 10 cerebral palsy children at the Pangon Utomo Foundation Surakarta. The test used is the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results of the pretest and posttest showed that there was no difference in the decrease obtained from the negative ranks value, but there was an increase of 9 people obtained from the positive ranks value and there was the same value between the pretest and posttest of 1 person. In the Wilcoxon test table, a P value (sig) of 0.006 was obtained, indicating that the P value (Sig) <0.05. Conclusion: There is an effect of the application of augmentative alternative communication on receptive language skills in children with cerebral palsy at the Pangon Utomo Foundation. Abstract

Background: Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition where a person's blood pressure is at 130/80 mmHg or more. Hypertension can also be called a silent killer disease, meaning that this disease often occurs without any complaints and signs that appear beforehand (WHO 2018). If this hypertension is left untreated, it can cause complications such as heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke. The estimated number of people with hypertension in Indonesia is 63,309,620 people, and the death rate from hypertension is 427,218. In Indonesia, hypertension that occurs in the 31-44 age group is 31.6%, 45-54 years old 45.3%, 55-64 years old 55.2% Therefore, hypertension cannot be underestimated (Riskesdas, 2018). Objectives: (1) to determine the effect of yoga on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension, (2) to determine the effect of progressive muscular relaxation on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension, (3) to determine whether there is a difference in the effect between yoga and progressive muscular relaxation on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension, (4) to determine which has a greater effect between yoga and progressive muscular relaxation on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Methods: This study is an experimental study, using a two group pre-test and post-test design involving 20 subjects who were randomly divided into 2 groups. Group I was given progressive muscular relaxation treatment and group II was given yoga treatment. With a frequency of exercise once a week for 3 weeks. The measuring instrument in this study used a sphygmomanometer. Results: Hypothesis I test using paired sample t-test obtained a p value: 0.000 (p <0.05) while hypothesis II test using paired sample t-test obtained a p value: 0.000 (p <0.005) for hypothesis III test using independent sample t-test obtained a p value: 0.042 (p <0.005). Conclusion: (1) there is an effect of yoga on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension, (2) there is an effect of progressive muscular relaxation on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension, (3) to find out whether there is a difference in the effect between yoga and progressive muscular relaxation on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension, (4) yoga has a greater effect than progressive muscular relaxation on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder that affects human brain function, normal cognitive and emotional functions and human behavior. This decrease in cognitive function has an impact on occupational, social and economic functional activities. Improving cognitive function in people with schizophrenia requires an action, treatment, and therapy such as cognitive remediation. One way is with brain gym. Brain-Gym is a method of training the brain through simple movements that serve to improve a person's cognitive abilities in terms of concentration, memory, observation, creativity and problem solving. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of brain gym therapy on cognitive function of schizophrenia patients at RSJ Grhasia Yogyakarta. Methods: Quantitative research pre- experimental design  one group pre-test and post-test. This research was conducted with a sample of 25 people (19-59 years). The instrument used in this research is the Schizophrenia Cognition Rating Scale (SCorS).  Results: the results of the hypothesis were obtained with a sig value of 0.000 (p value <0.05), which means that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results.  Brain gym is proven to have an effect on the cognitive function of schizophrenia patients at RSJ Grhasia Yogyakarta. Conclusion: Providing brain gym therapy has proven to be effective in influencing the cognitive function of schizophrenia patients at RSJ Grhasia Yogyakarta.  Brain gym therapy  can be a recommendation for cognitive remediation therapy for schizophrenia patients so that their cognitive abilities can function optimally. Abstract

Background: Developmental Language Disorder is an internationally recognized diagnostic term for people who have difficulty understanding and using language. Objectives: To analyze pragmatic abilities in children with Developmental Language Disorder and learning materials in writing scientific research while providing additional information about pragmatic abilities in children with Developmental Language Disorder. Methods: The research conducted is a systematic review study. This study uses data from previous studies. A quantitative systematic review combines findings from various independent studies, and produces a statistical summary of the findings (Last, 2001 in Murti, 2018). Results: Children with Developmental Language Disorder show a continuous language development condition with language problems. Where cognitive abilities are the main capital in communication. Conclusion: pragmatics is for talking, informing something and expressing feelings. Pragmatics is used to know what to say, how to say it and when is the right time to say a sentence. Abstract

Background: Low Back Pain is a condition of discomfort in the form of pain in the lower back and often spreads to the legs. Lower back pain can affect sleep quality, resulting in a decrease in a person's sleep quality. Sleep quality is a person's satisfaction with sleep, reduced sleep quality affects the individual's physical and psychological condition. One non-pharmacological therapy that is useful for reducing pain and improving sleep quality is the William Flexion Exercise (Modification). Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of the William Flexion Exercise (Modification) on sleep quality in Low Back Pain conditions at the Kartini Posyandu Salatiga. Methods: This study is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental design method non-random pretest-posttest with control group. The sample size was 30 people and the intervention was carried out 10 sessions. Hypothesis testing used the Independent t-test. The instrument used to measure sleep quality is the Pittsburg Quality Index (PSQI). Results: The results of the parametric paired t-test of the PSQI value obtained a value of 0.01 (Pvalue <0.05) which indicates that there is a difference in the PSQI value before and after the intervention. The results of the independent t-test hypothesis test of the PSQI instrument score in this study obtained a sig value of 0.001 (Pvalue <0.05) which means that there is a significant difference in the sleep quality value between the treatment and control groups after being given the William Flexion Exercise (Modification) intervention. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the William Flexion Exercise (Modification) intervention has an effect on improving sleep quality in Low Back Pain conditions at the Kartini Elderly Posyandu Salatiga. Abstract

Background: Reading ability in children aged 7-8 years is a critical foundation for academic and cognitive development. However, data indicates that 60% of Indonesian 2nd-grade students lack optimal reading fluency, facing challenges such as phonological difficulties, sentence structure comprehension, and limited literacy stimulation at home. Objectives: This study aims to analyze factors influencing reading ability in children aged 7-8 and identify effective remediation strategies. Methods: A systematic review was conducted, analyzing 5 selected articles from Google Scholar (2020–2025) using keywords related to reading fluency and school-age children. Results: Findings revealed that reading difficulties stem from internal (motivation, phonological awareness) and external factors (parental involvement, book access). Multisensory interventions, parental guidance, and balanced literacy methods significantly improved reading skills. Conclusion: Enhancing reading ability requires collaborative efforts among schools, families, and policies promoting inclusive literacy access. Abstract

Background: This amputation not only affects the ability to walk but can also lead to a loss of sensory receptors in the somatosensory system, increasing the risk of falls. Research shows that transtibial prosthesis users often experience instability and difficulty maintaining balance, which can compromise their ability to walk safely. Effective rehabilitation methods are crucial for enhancing balance and reducing the risk of falls in individuals using transtibial prostheses. Four Square Step Exercise (FSSE). Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the Four Square Step Exercise on walking balance in individuals using transtibial prostheses. Methods: This quasi-experimental study employed a one-group pre-test and post-test design to analyze the data, aiming to provide strong evidence of the effectiveness of FSSE in improving balance. Results: Statistical tests using a paired sample t-test yielded a p-value of <0.05, and a decrease in mean values from the pre-test to the post-test was observed. Conclusion: These findings provide strong evidence that individualized physical interventions can significantly reduce the risk of falls and improve the quality of life for individuals with lower limb amputations.
