Abstract

Background: Family interaction patterns are reciprocal relationships within a family that are deliberately built to influence, change, or improve behavior with social contact and communication between family members. Whether or not family interaction patterns are harmonious affects the development of language (including pragmatic language) and the child's social. Pragmatics is the ability to use language according to the context in social communication. Objectives: This study aims to determine the relationship between family interaction patterns and the development of pragmatic abilities of preschoolers in TKIT Insan Kamil Karanganyar. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional research design. The sampling technique in this study was simple random sampling, with a total sample of 58 respondents. The collected data was tested using Pearson Product Moment. Results: Pearson Product Moment test results obtained a p value of 0.000, that is, if the p value < 0.05, then the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The strength of the relationship can be seen from the result r = 0.880, the result shows a "very strong" correlation strength. Conclusion: There is a relationship between family interaction patterns and the development of pragmatic abilities of preschoolers in TKIT Insan Kamil Karanganyar. Abstract

Background: Speech delay in children is a common problem. A child is said to be late in speaking if his speech ability is below the proper level of development of the child's speech, and this has an impact on the child in developing his social skills (social skills). So it needs to be a serious concern for parents in supporting their children. Objectives: This research aims to determine the relation between parental support and social skill in children with speech delay aged 3-6 years at Liliput Clinic, Jakarta. Methods: This is a quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design and a correlational approach. Total Sampling was used as a data sampling technique for 35 samples. The research instrument used a questionnaire on parental support and social skills. Both data scales are ordinal and analyzed using the Kendall Tau test. Results: Based on the correlation test data analysis, the result is p = 0.006 which means that the p value < 0.05. So it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This indicates that there is a relation between parental support and social skill in children with speech delay. Meanwhile, the correlation coefficient (r) is 0.337 which indicates that the relationship between the two variables is in the weak category and the direction of the correlation is positive. Conclusion: It can be concluded from this research that there is a relation between parental support and social skill in children with speech delay aged 3-6 years at Liliput Clinic, Jakarta. Abstract

Background: Parenting style is one factor supporting the achievement of children's speech and language development according to their age stages because proper parenting is very important so that children can have good growth. The family is the first container that influences the development of children's vocabulary comprehension abilities. Parenting style is closely related to the development of vocabulary comprehension skills in children, the better the parenting style, the better the child's ability to understand vocabulary. Purpose: This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between parenting styles and the ability to understand vocabulary in children with intellectual disabilities in SLB Surakarta. Methods: Research using quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were children with intellectual disabilities at SLB Surakarta. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The number of respondents in this study were 30 respondents. Data analysis was carried out by using descriptive and bivariate statistical analysis tests. Spearman Rank's test is used for bivariate analysis. Results: The results of the analysis test with Spearman Rank's found a relationship between parenting styles and the ability to understand vocabulary. It is proven based on the analysis of the data obtained a significance of 0.001 where if it is less than 0.05 then Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted and the correlation coefficient (r) was -0.683. Conclusion: There is a relationship between parenting style and the ability to understand vocabulary in children with intellectual disabilities in SLB Surakarta. Abstract

Background: Brachial plexus injury is an injury to the C1-T1 nerve that most commonly occurs in men of reproductive age. This injury can cause motor and mental disability because it requires more than one surgery with a long recovery time. However, existing rehabilitative services focus more on restoring motor skills or functional abilities and less on evaluating psychological conditions, coping and quality of life. Objectives:The purpose of this study is to determine how the condition of psychological well-being and how BPI patients manage or maintain their psychological well-being. Methods:The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The number of participants was 6 patients from Soeharso Orthopedic Hospital, Surakarta who were selected through purposive sampling technique. Data was collected by in-depth interviews, then analyzed by content analysis. Results:The results showed that all BPI respondents experienced changes in the dimensions of psychological well-being. Conclusions:The dimensions that have experienced the most changes are self-acceptance, positive relations with others, purpose in life and environmental mastery. In addition, respondents also felt a change in subjective well-being. Adaptive strategies and emotional focused coping are most often used by respondents to maintain psychological well-being and adapt to life changes. By exploring this aspect, it can be taken into consideration in determining intervention that supports patient's independence. Abstract

Abstract Background.High stress levels during the first year of college can make students difficult to adapt and vulnerable to various social and psychological problems, which can decrease the GPA. To assist students in identifying and managing the stress they experience, it is necessary to recommend the application stress management training in educational programs (Chang et al.,2017). One of the stress management exercises that can be done is relaxation, one of the relaxation methods that can be used to reduce student stress levels is Progressive Muscle Relaxation. Objectives. This research was conducted to determine the effect progressive muscle relaxation the stress of new students in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Surakarta Polytechnic. Methods. The research conducted was a quantitative study with a pre-experimental type research design one group pretest-posttest. Student stress was calculated using the DASS instrument DASS 42, with the inclusion criteria of students who get a score of 15-18 on examination using DASS 42, are willing to get 12 interventions, and are not currently getting other interventions when they are sampled. The sample of the study was 30 students, and the sampling technique used purposive sampling.Data analysis used paired t-test technique, using an interval data scale. Result. Based on the characteristics of the research sample: the total number of respondents is 30 respondents. The number of female respondents was higher with 26 respondents. The age of respondents who took part in this study was 17-22 years old. The highest age distribution of respondents was at the age of 18 with a total of 20 respondents. Results pretest DASS 42 average scores 21.37. Resultposttestaverage 14.47. The total difference in the average value pretest and value posttest was 6.63. The results of data analysis using the paired t-test technique, p-value0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion. These results indicate if the interventionProgressive Muscle Relaxation affects the stress of new students in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Surakarta Polytechnic. Abstract

Abstract Background: The development of language skills in children is divided into 2, one of which is expressive language skills. An expansive language ability is a person's ability to convey messages verbally or in writing. The development of children can be influenced due to the awareness of the closest people, especially parents. But in reality, there are still many parents who do not have awareness of their role in stimulating children's language from an early age. Awareness consists of 5 aspects including AWAREness namely, Attention, Wakefulness, Architecture, Recall of Knowledge and Emotive. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parents' awareness about language development and expressive language skills in preschool-age children in KB-TK Aisyiyah Al-Amin Surakarta. Methods: This research is a quantitative study using a Cross Sectional research design. The sample used was 30 respondents based on the general benchmark of "role of thumb". The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used is the Spearman Rank correlation test. Results: Parents' awareness of language development was in the good category of 15 parents (50.0%). Enough for 10 parents (33.3%), and less for 5 parents (16.7%). Expressive language skills in the above category averaged 12 respondents (40.0%), in the average category there were 13 respondents (43.3%) while the remaining 5 respondents (10.0%) were in the below average category. The results of the bivariate analysis obtained that the p value was 0.001 which indicated that the p value was 0.001 <0.05 and the correlation coefficient (r) was 0.560. Conclusion: Parents' awareness of language development is related to expressive language skills in preschool-age children in Aisyiyah Al-Amin Surakarta Kindergarten with moderate correlation strength. Abstract

Abstract Background: Mother's education is one of the factors that influence the average number of child morpheme utterances. The results of the 2018 Riskesdas, that the percentage of children's language problems is 0.42%. Objectives:To find out the description of the education level of mothers with preschool-aged children, o find out the MLU of preschool age children. (3) To determine the relationship between mother's education and Mean Length of Uterance (MLU) skills in preschool-aged children in RA Al Kautsar Surakarta. Methods: This research is a quantitative study using a purposive sampling technique, the sample in this study were 30 children who attended school at RA Al Kautsar Surakarta. The statistical test used in this study is the Chi Square test. Results: Based on the results of the chi-square test, a significance value of 0.000 was obtained, which means p <0.05, so there is a relationship between maternal education and MLU abilities in preschool-aged children at RA Al Kautsar Surakarta. Conclusion: The results of the Chi Square test analysis show that Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant relationship between mother's education and MLU abilities in preschool-aged children at RA Al Kautsar Surakarta. Abstract

ABSTRACT Research Background: Family is the closest social environment that is owned by every human being. Social support is the perception and reality that an individual can get help from other people in his social network. Expressive language is the language children use to express their desires and to ask and answer questions. Children with autism disorder are children who have problems in aspects of language, one of them is expressive language. Goals: This research aims to determine whether family social support can affect the expressive language skills of children with autism at the Yogyakarta Autism Service Center. Methods: This research is a quantitative research with cross sectional research design. The sampling technique used a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 30 autistic children at the Yogyakarta Autism Service Center. The data in this study were analyzed univariately and bivariately. The statistical test used is the Spearment Rank test. Research Result: The test results of bivariate analysis of family social support with expressive language skills of children with autism showed that ρ=0.000 with a correlation coefficient of r=0.628 it’s means that there is an influence between family social support and expressive language abilities of children with autism at the Yogyakarta Autism Service Center. The relationship between the two variables is included in the strong category with a positive direction. Conclusion: Family social support influences the expressive language skills of children with autism at the Yogyakarta Autism Service Center. Abstract

Abstract Background: Children with hearing impairment delays in aspects of language, one of which is written language. One of the most difficult written languages to mastered is reading comprehension. Low reading comprehension ability is often associated with low syntax ability. Sentences contained in a reading are quite complex which requires syntactical skills in reading comprehension. Objective: This research aim for knowing exists relationship between syntax ability and reading comprehension of hearing impairment children in Surakarta. Method: This research use quantitative research with cross-sectional data collection. Technique sample used on this research is purposive sampling with 30 respondens. The statistical test used is the Spearman Rank test. Results: The results of this study indicate a significance value (ρ) of 0.007 so that there is syntactic ability with reading comprehension in children with hearing loss in Surakarta. The strength indicates a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.481 which means that having a moderate category of correlation strength. Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: In 2018, Indonesia is still faced with child development problems. There are around 56.34% of preschoolers experiencing delays in developments such as reading and writing. The development of literacy is important to pay attention to and in early childhood development, language really needs to be developed considering the importance of language for all of us. Viewed from the aspect of language, pragmatics is the highest stage of language, pragmatics is a branch of linguistics that discusses what is included in the structure of language as a means of communication between speakers and listeners. Objective: This research aims to find out the correlation between early literacy skills and pragmatic language skills in preschool-aged children in TK Marsudirini Surakarta. Method: The type of research used is quantitative. The research design to be used is a correlational study. The sampling technique that will be used in this research is purposive sampling. The number of samples that have been used in this research were 30 respondents. Result: The results showed that 6 respondents (20%) were in the early literacy skills category, the sufficient category was 11 respondents (36.7%), and the good category was 13 respondents (43.3%). Respondents in pragmatic language skills in the unable category were 14 respondents (46.7%) and in the able category were 16 respondents (53.3%). Bivariate analysis used the Spearman Rank statistical test with a ???? value of 0.001 and a correlation coefficient of 0.732. This shows that the direction of the correlation between the two variables is positive, which means that if one variable increases, the other variable will develop. Conclusion: There is a correlation between early literacy skills and pragmatic language skills in preschool-aged children in TK Marsudirini Surakarta with a strong correlation strength.
