Abstract

This article explores pre-production strategies in educational television programming, focusing on a case study of Tau Gak Sih?, a news magazine-style show aired on TRANS7. The program demonstrates how television can remain relevant amidst the rise of digital media by offering content that is informative, light, and visually engaging. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, combining participant observation and in-depth interviews. The study finds that pre-production stages—including idea research, field observation, pitching, permitting, and logistics—are crucial in producing episodes that align with the needs and preferences of younger audiences. The findings are analyzed through the lens of communication theories such as agenda setting, uses and gratifications, gatekeeping, and audience-centered production. The study concludes that a structured and adaptive pre-production process is essential to ensure the effectiveness and appeal of educational television programs in the media convergence era.

Abstract

Before the region came to be known as Priangan, it was referred to by its earlier name, Sumedanglarang. After its transfer from Mataram to Sultan Agung, the name was changed to Priangan. When the region later came under the control of the Dutch East Indies administration, Governor-General H. W. Daendels renamed it Prefectuur Preanger-Regentschappen. During the British interregnum (1811–1816), Thomas Stamford Raffles further changed the administrative designation to Priangan Residence, which comprised five regencies: Bandung, Cianjur, Sumedang, Limbangan, and Sukapura. Each regency was governed by local aristocratic elites under colonial supervision. This local aristocracy, known as the ménak, consisted of regents, their assistants, and their extended families. These ménak elites led exclusive lifestyles and lived in houses that clearly distinguished them from the peasant class. This article specifically explores the residences of the Priangan aristocracy from 1800 to 1942. Various historical sources are corroborated to reconstruct an account of these elite dwellings. The study employs a four-step historical method comprising heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. It also integrates historical, philological, anthropological, and sociological approaches to offer a multidimensional understanding of the aristocratic residential spaces. The buildings often adopted architectural styles reminiscent of keraton palaces, typically featuring a front-facing pendopo. Due to the influence of European culture, this architectural style later evolved into a hybrid form, with Western elements incorporated. These residences became known as regent-woning (regent’s houses), furnished and decorated in ways that preserved keraton-inspired aesthetics.

Abstract

A clean and green school environment plays an essential role in creating a comfortable and effective learning atmosphere. However, achieving such an environment requires the active involvement of all school members and effective program management. This study aims to examine the management of a school yard arrangement program through the cultivation of Bunga Miana in realizing SMP Bina Harapan Jatigede as an Adiwiyata School at the Sumedang Regency Level in 2025. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation. The results show that the school yard arrangement program was planned participatively through stages of evaluation analysis, aspiration gathering, and program planning involving various stakeholders, emphasizing environmental conservation, empowerment of school members, and local potential development. Its implementation was successful through collaborative efforts using the BMSF Katata approach, integrating conservation values into learning and student character building, with active support from the school community, UNPAD, the local community, and government, as part of a sustainable Adiwiyata School initiative. The program was evaluated comprehensively and systematically through regular monitoring, curriculum assessment, and stakeholder involvement. The evaluation results indicated program effectiveness through improved environmental conditions, increased plant growth, timely execution, enhanced student character, and sustainability potential. Therefore, Bunga Miana cultivation proves effective as a sustainable and educational strategy for managing the school environment in support of achieving the Adiwiyata School status. Abstract

Abstract Discussion of mass media cannot be separated from the interests behind the media, especially the interests in the information it conveys. In the development of modern mass media, there are at least two main interests behind the media, namely economic interests and power interests that shape media content, the information presented and the meaning it offers. Between these two main interests, there is actually a more basic interest that is often ignored, namely the public interest. The media, which should act as a public sphere due to the interests above, actually ignores the public interest itself. The strength of economic interests and political interests is what actually makes the media unable to be neutral, honest, fair, objective, and open. As a result, the information presented by the media has raised serious problems of objectivity of knowledge in the media itself. Keywords: Mass Media, Public, Interests, Economy, Politics

Abstract

This study is a study of the Sundanese honorific vocatives Dén and Adén ‘Sir’ from a syntactic perspective. This vocative is used to respectfully address a certain person because they are socially in a certain social class. There are quite a lot of honorific vocatives in Sundanese, including the vocative Adén ‘Tuan’ and the vocative Dén ‘Tuan’ which are morphologically a form of a fragment of Radén. This vocative is addressed to male speech partners. This study is descriptive qualitative. Data provision uses the listening method with note-taking techniques. Data analysis uses a syntactic approach. The data source used is a single written data source, namely a Sundanese novel entitled Kembang Rumah Tangga by Tjaraka (1996). The reason for using this data source is because it contains a lot of data that is needed and as a sample. Based on the data sources used, 35 sentences were found containing honorific vocatives, namely the single vocatives Adén and Dén and the combination of honorific and proper name vocatives, namely Dén Sujana. The honorific vocatives Adén and Dén totaled 34 data with details of the Adén vocative totaling 5 data, while the Dén vocative totaling 29 data. In addition, the honorific vocative Dén was also found combined with the proper name vocative Sujana which formed the combination vocative Dén Sujana which totaled only 1 data. Thus, based on its form, this honorific vocative is dominated by the single vocative Dén. Based on the types of sentences containing the honorific vocatives above, there were 5 declarative sentences, 1 imperative sentence, 10 interrogative sentences, and 19 exclamative sentences. Thus, the types of sentences containing the honorific vocatives are dominated by exclamative sentences. The Adén vocative is found in interrogative and exclamative sentences. The Dén vocative is found in declarative, imperative, interrogative and exclamative sentences. The Dén Sujana vocative is only found in exclamative sentences. Based on the distribution in the sentence, the honorific vocatives above are found at the beginning of the sentence or initial totaling 2 data, in the middle of the sentence or medial totaling 12 data, and at the end of the sentence or final totaling 21 data. Thus, this honorific vocative is dominated by the final position of the sentence.

Abstract

Every nation and even every ethnic group on Earth—possesses a culture that continually evolves in line with technological advances, the rapid growth of scientific knowledge, and the progression of time. Therefore, as the next generation, we must actively preserve, protect, and sustain our cultural heritage, particularly the customs, traditions, and ancestral legacies passed down from previous generations. These artistic elements should be preserved and further developed in the present day to prevent their extinction, especially in the domains of language and the arts. In the current Generation Z era, the acceleration of civilization and its supporting aspects is difficult to contain. If the younger generation shows indifference toward their own local linguistic and artistic wisdom, particularly that of Sundanese heritage, the current cultural wealth and diversity will gradually erode and may ultimately vanish. This is the motivation behind this study: to encourage Generation Z to become more familiar with, learn about, and actively engage in preserving Sundanese language and arts, so they are not lost to time. This study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing descriptive-analytical methods through sociolinguistic, hermeneutic, and cultural studies frameworks. Hopefully, this work will provide valuable insights and contribute to other academic disciplines in a multidisciplinary manner
