Abstract

This study analyzes the role of the panning technique in creating visual tension in the film “Tarung Sarung” (2020), an Indonesian action-adventure film that blends action with the local culture of Makassar. The panning technique, which involves the horizontal movement of the camera to follow the subject or expand the space, is used strategically in key scenes such as fight sequences, chases, and character interactions to enhance the dynamics and intensity of the story. A qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods was used to explore how this technique influences the audience's perception and supports the film's narrative. The analysis reveals that panning not only clarifies movement in action scenes but also adds emotional depth and showcases the beauty of Indonesian culture and landscapes. This technique is effective in creating tension and directing the audience's attention to important elements of the story. This study is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of the use of cinematographic techniques in enriching the movie-watching experience, particularly in action and locally rooted genres.

Abstract

This study examines the application of the three-act structure based on Aristotle's theory in the screenplay of the film “Key” to effectively build suspense. The three-act structure—comprising setup, conflict development, and resolution—is a classical narrative framework widely used in filmmaking. The research employs a descriptive-qualitative approach with a case study on the screenplay of “Key.” This study contributes to the development of screenwriting techniques, particularly for genres that prioritize suspense, and provides practical guidance for screenwriters in crafting stories capable of influencing the audience's emotions. The analysis results show that the application of Aristotle's elements in the three-act structure creates a progressive storyline, strengthens the emotional connection between the audience and the characters, and delivers a climactic emotional peak.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to analyze the readiness of teachers in the application of the Independent Curriculum in art learning and obstacles in art learning at SMP Negeri 21 Padang. Qualitative research using a descriptive approach is the methodology employed. The informant in this study is the Deputy Head of Curriculum and a cultural arts teacher in the field of fine arts class VIII in preparing for the implementation of the independent curriculum. This study collects data through documentation, interviews, and observation. Based on data processing, it was found that the readiness of teachers in the implementation of the independent curriculum in art learning at SMP Negeri 21 Padang has been carried out well. cultural arts teachers only refer to the Teaching Module and the teaching method activities still use the old method, but in the learning system it has been applied based on the independent curriculum structure. There are various difficulties that stem from the quality of cultural arts teachers who teach, inadequate facilities and infrastructure for art exhibition activities.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology is evidenced by numerous innovations that simplify human tasks, particularly in the agricultural sector. Various farming methods are offered to produce fruits and vegetables without using chemical pesticides. Hydroponic techniques have been implemented to maximize crop yields without the use of chemicals in the plant care process. The community in Barean Village, Ploso, Pacitan Regency still relies on conventional farming methods. Conventional farming methods, apart from requiring large areas, also have adverse environmental and health impacts due to the use of chemical pesticides. Farmer have to spend quite a lot of capital to provide large amounts of fertiliser to treat the plants in their fields. The results obtained from conventional farming methods are not worth the capital spent. Hydroponic farming metode is an agricultural method that uses water as a growing medium. This method is recognised as an environmentally friendly method, as it uses water and nutrient solutions as a substitute for nutrients found in soil. Autor introduces hydroponic cultivation methods to the public through a digital platform. People from all walks of life can learn farming techniques using the hydroponic method, as it is more visually appealing, and can be operated interactively. Hydroponic techniques can be effectively learned through this 2D interactive media, which provides comprehensive knowledge about the hydroponic method, equipment, materials, and proper cultivation methods. The final section of this interactive media features a simple quiz to assess knowledge for novice farmers. The design of 2D Interactive Based Hydroponic Farming Learning Media is expected to be an attraction for the community in the field of agriculture. The development of this 2D Interactive Hydroponic Farming Educational Media is intended to serve as a solution for hydroponic cultivation education, thereby maximizing agricultural productivity.

Abstract

The drama Ayahku Pulang is able to describe Indonesian families during the colonial era. This story is very stressful between family members. One of the people who experiences the most spiritual turmoil is Gunarto, a young man who is now an adult. Gunarto shows a tough, cynical nature, and does not accept his parents back who are no longer worthy of being his mainstay. In this context, the character of Gunarto is a very interesting literary object for research among teenagers. His position is so important for research on adolescent psychology because at this time they are in the midst of an identity crisis, regarding the search for identity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the character of Gunarto as a representation of the inner conflict of adolescents in the drama Ayahku Pulang using Erikson's development theory. According to Eriksonian theory, adolescence is in search of identity through protest against wrong roles. Gunarto in this case is compared with a character who not only faces external conflict in his relationship with his father, but also internal conflict about the child's self-awareness, feelings of disappointment, and the need for emotional stability. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with drama text analysis techniques. Data obtained from the original manuscript of Ayahku Pulang were analyzed descriptively-analytically to explore the dynamics of Gunarto's psychology holistically. From this study, the importance of understanding the psychology of adolescence in literary works, especially when it comes to the relationship between parents and children. Gunarto's character is the voice of a wounded youth. This study focuses on literary psychology and is codified in Indonesian families. This scope opens up criticism of the role and how consistent the parental figure is in developing the identity of the younger generation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand and explain the implementation process of ensemble learning of the same type in class VII.1 of SMP Negeri 43 Padang. This research falls into the category of qualitative research using descriptive methods. The researcher themselves serve as the main instrument in this study, supported by writing tools and a camera. Data is obtained through literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions from the data. At the planning stage, the teacher prepares learning tools according to the independent curriculum included in the teaching module. At the implementation stage of the same ensemble, the teacher uses lecture, question and answer, practice, and demonstration methods. The learning media used by the teacher includes the melodica and the score for the song "Kambanglah Bungo". At the assessment stage, the teacher conducts diagnostic and formative assessments. In the practical assessment of the melodica ensemble, many students experience difficulties, especially in reading the score, fingering techniques, and maintaining the tempo. Furthermore, the lack of enrichment and remedial measures during the assessment process impacts students' development, both for those who have not achieved competencies and those who have already understood them.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the song “Bayar Bayar Bayar” using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach based on Teun A. van Dijk’s model. The song was selected due to its explicit criticism of corruption and abuse of power within the Indonesian police institution. The analysis covers three main dimensions in Van Dijk’s theory: discourse structure (macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure), social cognition, and social context. The analysis reveals that thematically, the song represents the collective experience of society in facing bureaucratic injustice, particularly in the form of illegal levies by the authorities. Its repetitive and straightforward superstructure strengthens the main message. At the microstructural level, the use of direct language, punk-styled stylistics, and the rhetorical repetition of “bayar polisi” (pay the police) create a provocative effect and reinforce the social critique being delivered. In terms of social cognition, the song reflects the public's mental model of the police as an institution that perpetuates social inequality rather than acting as a neutral protector. From a social context perspective, the song emerges from the reality of unequal power relations between citizens and authorities, serving as a symbolic form of resistance against hegemonic power structures. “Bayar Bayar Bayar” is thus not only a musical work but also an ideological expression with critical discourse value in advocating for social justice.

Abstract

This study aims to determine what types of traditional accessories are worn by Batak Toba brides and grooms during weddings and pre-weddings and to determine the aesthetic value and symbolic meaning of each accessory. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The techniques used in data collection are library studies, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by data tabulation, data triangulation, and data interpretation, as well as drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study, the traditional accessories worn by Batak Toba brides have various types, and the form or style of use depends on the region. Each traditional accessory has an aesthetic value that can be seen from its physical form that can be sensed, such as its unique and attractive shape, color and shape. Each traditional Batak Toba accessory also contains a symbolic meaning that symbolizes prayer, and the hopes of the family and bride in starting a new life.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the role of fandom in driving the growth of the fanworks market in Indonesia, specifically through the case study of Comifuro, a popular cultural event that is the center for the distribution of fan-made works. The research method used is qualitative, with a self-report approach from participants who are directly involved as creators and consumers at Comifuro since the beginning of its implementation. The results of the study show that the emotional connection between fans and copyrighted works encourages active involvement in producing and consuming fanworks. Fanworks are not only a forum for expression, but also a means of creative monetization that is socially legal even though it is legally gray. Comifuro gives creators a space for freedom of expression, bringing them together directly with audiences in an inclusive and supportive space. The surge in visitors and participants since the post-pandemic reflects the high demand for fandom content, as well as demonstrating the power of communities in supporting the creative economy. This research emphasizes the importance of recognizing the role of fans as the main motor in popular culture dynamics and community-based digital economy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meanings embedded in the Fana Coffee logo using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The Fana Coffee logo features visual elements such as a bean sprout, soft typography spelling "Fana", and a dominant green color. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach through documentation, observation, interviews, and literature review. The analysis reveals that each element in the logo carries denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings. The green color symbolizes freshness and health, the sprout represents strength, simplicity, and adaptability, while the word “Fana” conveys impermanence and peace, aligning with the cozy ambiance of the coffee shop. Overall, the logo effectively reflects the identity and vision of Fana Coffee as a comfortable, natural, and welcoming place for visitors. This study is expected to provide insights for designers in creating meaningful and brand-relevant logos.
