Abstract

Product quality is an important factor in the manufacturing industry to maintain customer satisfaction and reduce losses caused by defective products. In the production process of 350 mL Teh Pucuk Harum at PT. Tirta Fresindo Jaya Pasuruan, problems are still found at the after-labeling stage, such as misaligned labels, missing labels, and incorrect label placement, which result in rejected products. This study aims to determine the quality level of the labeling process, calculate the DPMO (Defects Per Million Opportunities) and sigma level, and identify the factors causing product defects. This research uses the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Data were collected through direct observation, company documentation, and interviews conducted over six days of observation. The results showed that label rejects were the most dominant type of defect compared with bottle and cap rejects. The analysis was conducted using control charts, DPMO, sigma level, and a cause-and-effect diagram (fishbone diagram) to identify the root causes of defects. The proposed improvements, including the addition of lighting in the sorting area and improvements to the sorting formation, were proven to reduce the number of label rejects by 31.68%, increase production process efficiency, and improve product quality continuously.

Abstract

Inceptisols soil is a type of soil that is widely found in Kepahiang District and has the characteristics of developing a soil profile that is still weak with physical properties that are influenced by land use and slope slopes. Differences in land use and topographic conditions can cause variations in soil physical properties such as texture, volume weight, permeability, moisture content, soil structure, and C-organic content. This study aims to compare the physical properties of soil in several land uses in Kepahiang District, Kepahiang Regency, and examine the relationship between land use and slope slope to soil physical conditions. The research was carried out in December-March 2026 using a survey method with a purposive random sampling technique. Sampling was carried out at 16 points representing the use of plantation land, rice fields, settlements, and shrubs at a depth of 0-20 cm. Soil samples were analyzed at the Soil Science Laboratory of the University of Bengkulu on the parameters of soil texture, volume weight, permeability, moisture content, soil structure, and C-organic. The results showed that land use and slope slope affect the variation in soil physical properties. Plantation land and shrubs tend to have better soil physical conditions than rice fields and settlements. The volume weight value ranges from 0.85-1.22 g/cm³, permeability 0.47-3.37 cm/h, moisture content 38.49-51.36%, and C-organic 1.57-10.14%.

Abstract

Indonesia’s seismic conditions make evaluating structural capacity under earthquake loads an important aspect of ensuring building safety. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Eight-Story Educational Facility Building in Parepare City and determine its structural capacity to withstand the applied earthquake loads. The study employed a quantitative approach using pushover analysis assisted by ETABS based on SNI 1726:2019 and ATC-40. Lateral loading was applied incrementally to obtain the capacity curve, performance point, plastic hinge, and performance level. The analysis results showed that the performance point in the X direction had a target displacement of 189.507 mm with a base shear of 2,177.205 kN, while in the Y direction it was 164.252 mm with a base shear of 2,185.046 kN. Element responses were greater in the lower part of the building than in the upper part. Under the Life Safety condition, several elements showed responses of approximately 1.024, while under Collapse Prevention, the response reached approximately 0.883. Although the response increased, the structure remained capable of resisting deformation and transferring forces without losing strength or stiffness that could lead to collapse. The evaluation results indicate that the structural capacity remains adequate for the earthquake demand. According to ATC-40, the structural performance level falls within the Immediate Occupancy (IO) category, indicating that the building’s stability and functionality can be maintained after the analyzed earthquake loading.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and compare the performance of a vertical-axis wind turbine using standard NACA 0018 blades and J-type blades. The research was conducted using an experimental method through direct testing of the vertical-axis wind turbine at several wind speed variations. The parameters observed included wind speed, turbine rotational speed (RPM), voltage, electric current, and electrical power generated. The test data were then analyzed to determine the effect of blade shape on the performance of the vertical-axis wind turbine. The test results show that changes in wind speed affect the rotational speed of the turbine and the electrical power generated. Differences in the shape of the NACA 0018 and J-type blades result in different turbine performance characteristics, particularly in terms of rotational speed, torque, and power generation. Based on the comparison of the test results, the blade type that provides more optimal performance under the testing conditions can be determined.

Abstract

Inaccurate project planning can lead to delays and cost overruns, as occurred in the classroom-building project at SMK Sore Tulungagung, which experienced a slowdown in work progress during Phase 1 (structural work) and Phase 2 (architectural work). This study aims to analyze time planning, the critical path, project completion probability, and time and cost efficiency using a combination of the Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) and the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), through a quantitative descriptive-analytical case-study approach. The results show that the combined PDM-PERT method reduced the duration of Phase 1 from 91 to 85 days (6.59% efficiency) and Phase 2 from 140 to 120 days (14.29% efficiency), with a completion probability of 99.99% (Z = 4.14) and 100% (Z = 11.36) respectively. Application of the combined method also produced a total cost saving of IDR 87,225,902.97 (12.02%). These findings prove that the combined PDM-PERT method is effective as a tool for planning and controlling the time and cost of construction projects.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the responsiveness of the MAX6675 sensor regarding motor movement within an Arduino Uno-based Conveyor system. Testing was conducted to assess the sensor's ability to detect temperature changes and to observe the motor control system's response based on the measured temperature. The MAX6675 sensor served as the interface module for a K-type thermocouple, while the Arduino Uno acted as the central controller and a DC motor functioned as the Conveyor actuator. Temperature readings were displayed on an LCD, allowing for the observation of temperature fluctuations during the testing process. The methodology involved subjecting the K-type thermocouple to incremental temperature changes and monitoring the DC motor's response to the temperature values read by the MAX6675. Data collected included temperature values, motor status, sensor response time, and the time required for the motor to start or stop once the temperature reached a predetermined threshold. Tests were performed across various temperature limits to determine the system's responsiveness to temperature changes. The results demonstrate that the MAX6675 sensor effectively reads temperature changes from the K-type thermocouple and transmits data to the Arduino Uno to govern DC motor control. When the temperature remains below the set limit, the motor operates; conversely, when the temperature reaches the programmed limit, the Arduino signals the motor driver to halt the motor. Thus, this evaluation of MAX6675 sensor responsiveness establishes the relationship between detected temperature changes and motor movement within the Conveyor system.
