Abstract

Current reading accuracy is an important factor in industrial automation systems because it affects the monitoring, control, and protection of three-phase induction motors. This study aims to analyze the accuracy of current readings in systems based on Electronic Over Current Relay (EOCR) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) by comparing the results of EOCR and PLC readings against a reference measuring instrument. The research method used is an experiment by varying the current through changes in the load resistance of a three-phase induction motor. The EOCR analog output signal of 4–20 mA is acquired by the PLC, then processed using the linear scaling method and displayed on the Human Machine Interface (HMI). The results show that the EOCR has an average error of 2.78%, while the PLC has an average error of 5.08%. In addition, the correlation analysis shows a coefficient of 0.994, which indicates a very strong relationship between the PLC readings and the reference measuring instrument. The results prove that the EOCR–PLC system is capable of monitoring the current of a three-phase induction motor in real time with a high level of satisfactory accuracy. Therefore, the proposed system can serve as an effective current monitoring solution and provide a basis for enhancing industrial motor protection and monitoring systems.

Abstract

This study analyzes the comparative construction costs of Building B at Universitas Terbuka, South Tangerang, based on changes in construction prices during the 2024–2026 period. The increasing variation in construction material prices and labor costs requires an evaluation of cost estimates to ensure accuracy and reliability in project budgeting. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method using secondary data, including the Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Detailed Engineering Design (DED), Technical Specifications (RKS), and Unit Price Analysis (AHSP) based on the Mayor of South Tangerang Regulations applicable for each year. The analysis focused on preliminary and structural works because these components represent the main contributors to the total construction cost. Based on the 2024 project data, the initial total cost of the structure of Building B at Universitas Terbuka was Rp91,784,683,449.13. After recalculation using the applicable unit price standards, the estimated costs increased to Rp116,844,402,168.21 in 2024, Rp135,894,331,891.19 in 2025, and Rp161,569,728,764.70 in 2026. The results indicate that fluctuations in unit prices significantly influence total construction costs. Therefore, periodic updating of price data is essential to improve the accuracy of cost estimation and support more effective construction cost management.

Abstract

The development of the construction industry requires building methods that are faster, more cost-efficient, and capable of delivering higher quality. Conventional construction methods are still widely used in building projects; however, they often face challenges such as longer construction durations, high labor requirements, and the risk of material waste. One alternative approach is modular construction, which can accelerate project execution, improve construction quality, and reduce both material waste and project costs. This study compares conventional and modular construction methods in the development of the building at Universitas Ma'arif Nahdlatul Ulama (UMNU) Kebumen using Microsoft Project for cost and schedule analysis. The results indicate that the estimated construction cost using the conventional method is IDR 1.322.412.000, while the modular method requires IDR 830.000.000. This represents a cost saving of IDR 492.412.000, equivalent to 37,24%, when using the modular method. In terms of project duration, the conventional method is estimated to require 120 calendar days, whereas the modular method requires only 40 calendar days. Consequently, the modular method reduces the construction duration by 80 days, achieving a time efficiency of 66,67%. The findings demonstrate that the modular construction method is more efficient than the conventional method for the construction of the UMNU Kebumen building in terms of both project cost and construction duration.

Abstract

The use of nutmeg shell biochar as a partial cement substitution is a strategic step in utilizing agricultural waste to create environmentally friendly concrete and reduce carbon emissions. This research employed an experimental method using 36 cylindrical test specimens measuring 15 x 30 cm. The mixture variations tested included normal concrete (0%) and the addition of nutmeg shell biochar at 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% as a partial replacement for cement. The tests conducted covered slump tests and concrete compressive strength at 7, 14, and 28 days of age. The test results showed that the slump value increased from 80 mm in normal concrete to 84 mm, 87.67 mm, and 96.67 mm as the percentage of biochar increased, indicating an improvement in concrete workability. At 28 days of age, normal concrete yielded the highest compressive strength of 23.97 MPa, while the 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% biochar variations produced compressive strengths of 17.17 MPa, 17.55 MPa, and 16.32 MPa, respectively. The 5% variation was identified as the optimum substitution because it provided the highest compressive strength among the biochar variations, reaching 73.22% of the normal concrete compressive strength. Overall, nutmeg shell biochar demonstrates significant potential as a partial cement substitution material to support sustainable and eco-friendly concrete construction.

Abstract

The escalating waste problem necessitates management alternatives that focus not only on reducing waste volume but also on utilizing waste as an energy source. This study employs a waste incineration system to evaluate two energy conversion mechanisms: an impulse turbine and a fan turbine. In the impulse turbine system, thermal energy from combustion generates pressurized steam directed at the turbine blades; test variables included the number of blades, blade angle, and steam pressure. In the fan turbine system, thermal energy and the flow of combustion gases drive turbine rotation, with variables including combustion temperature and the number of blades. Impulse turbine testing identified the optimal performance with a configuration of 10 blades, a 40° blade angle, and 2.5 bar pressure, yielding a rotational speed of 4,103 rpm, 6.2 V voltage, 4.1 A current, and 25.42 W power. For the fan turbine, the best results were achieved with a 3-blade configuration at 900°C, producing a flow velocity of 1.1 m/s, a rotational speed of 601 rpm, and a generator power output of 5 W. The findings demonstrate that a single waste incineration system can be utilized via two energy conversion pathways: steam for the impulse turbine and hot gas flow for the fan turbine.

Abstract

High-rise building projects are highly complex because they involve the integration of structural, architectural, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) elements. One of the common problems in the planning stage is the occurrence of design clashes between building elements that are not detected early. Such clashes may lead to design discrepancies, rework, material waste, project delays, and potential cost increases during construction. Therefore, the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) through clash detection is important to improve design coordination and minimize construction errors. This study aims to analyze the implementation of BIM-based clash detection in identifying design clashes in a high-rise building project. The research employed a model-based simulation approach through literature review, project data collection, BIM 3D modeling, clash detection, and classification of clashes among building disciplines. The clash detection process was carried out to identify conflicts between structural, architectural, and MEP elements. The results show that the BIM model was able to visualize the building components in detail and support the identification of interdisciplinary clashes. The detected clashes included conflicts between structure and MEP, architecture and MEP, structure and architecture, and wall elements with MEP components.
