Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for moral education for students through a community-based approach at the Al-Hidayah Islamic Boarding School in Tenggarong. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the boarding school leadership, male teachers (ustadz), female teachers (ustazah), and students. The results indicate that character education is implemented through the exemplary conduct of teachers, daily routines, regular mentoring activities, the provision of advice, character evaluations every semester, supervision, and special guidance for students requiring additional attention. The boarding school environment, as a community, exerts a significant influence on shaping students’ character through a culture of discipline, courtesy, responsibility, and religious devotion. The primary challenges faced include variations in students’ personalities and the time-consuming nature of the moral transformation process. Additionally, students’ family backgrounds and pre-boarding school habits pose further challenges in the moral development process. However, through collaboration between boarding school leaders, ustadz, ustazah, and fellow students, the moral education process can proceed more effectively and sustainably. Intensive social interaction within boarding school life further strengthens the internalization of moral and religious values in students. This study demonstrates that a community-based approach is effective in supporting the sustainable and relevant development of students’ moral character.

Abstract

The use of technology in education administration is an important need to support the effectiveness of school governance in the digital era. This study aims to examine the use of technology in the implementation of educational administration in secondary schools, including the form of application, benefits, obstacles, and optimization strategies. This study uses a literature review method with a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data was obtained from a variety of relevant literature, such as journal articles, proceedings, academic books, and scientific documents that discuss educational technology, school management information systems, administrative digitalization, and educational governance. The analysis technique is carried out through content analysis by reviewing, grouping, and synthesizing findings from various sources. The results of the study show that technology is used in school information systems, digital archiving, electronic attendance, student data management, personnel administration, and academic reporting. This utilization helps speed up administrative processes, improve data accuracy, facilitate access to information, and support data-driven decision-making. However, its implementation still faces obstacles in the form of limited infrastructure, digital competence, system integration, and policy support. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen infrastructure, improve human resource competence, adaptive leadership, and integrate administrative systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of the millennial generation from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy by reconstructing the concepts of fitrah (innate human nature) and moral character within the digital era. Rapid advancements in information technology have altered social values and created new challenges for Islamic education in preserving Islamic educations amidst increasingly complex digital transformations. This research employs a qualitative approach utilizing a literature review method. Data were gathered from various primary and secondary sources concerning Islamic educational philosophy, fitrah, prophetic ethics, digital literacy, and maqasid sharia (the objectives of Islamic law). The data were analyzed through stages of data reduction, classification, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. Research findings indicate that the concept of fitrah remains relevant as an ontological foundation for Islamic education; however, it requires reconstruction to align with the characteristics of contemporary digital society. The study also reveals that ethics needs to be reconstructed into a "prophetic digital ethics" framework to address the various ethical challenges arising in the digital space. Furthermore, the integration of digital literacy and maqasid sharia offers a new paradigm for the development of contemporary Islamic education. This research proposes three conceptual constructs digital fitrah, prophetic digital ethics, and maqasid sharia based digital literacy as theoretical contributions to the advancement of Islamic educational philosophy in the digital era. These findings underscore the importance of integrating spirituality, character building, and digital literacy to cultivate individuals who are faithful, morally responsible, critical, and socially collaborative in their use of technology.

Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive ethical analysis of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic education. AI technologies such as ChatGPT, personalized learning algorithms, automated assessment systems, and learning analytics have entered Islamic schools (madrasas) and pesantren, offering both opportunities and moral challenges. This study aims to: (1) identify the main ethical challenges of AI from an Islamic perspective; (2) formulate ethical principles derived from the Quran, Hadith, and maqashid al-shariah; (3) offer practical implementation scenarios. The research uses a qualitative library research method, analyzing international and national literature published in the last five years (2021-2026). Data analysis employs thematic content analysis. Findings reveal six core ethical challenges: opacity of algorithms, algorithmic bias, data privacy, diminished teacher authority, commodification of knowledge, and unequal access. In response, six corresponding Islamic ethical principles are developed: transparency (al-shafafiyyah), justice (al-adl), responsibility (al-masuliyyah), privacy (al-khusushiyyah), human autonomy (al-istiklaliyyah al-bashariyyah), and social solidarity (al-taawun). These principles are operationalized through three case studies: AI chatbots in pesantren, AI-based student grouping systems, and automated Quranic pronunciation assessment. The article concludes that AI can be integrated into Islamic education if guided by these principles, with the teacher remaining the ultimate moral and pedagogical authority.
