Abstract

Biofloc technology is a super-intensive fish cultivation method, which benefits heterotrophic bacteria to harvest organic chemical compounds and amines from fish metabolic residues to be converted into bacterial proteins. The use of probiotics is very important to be carried out in cultivation activities, Probiotics are living microorganisms that have a beneficial effect on humans by balancing the microflora in their intestines. The bacteria in probiotics have a mechanism in forming several enzymes for feed digestion. This study aims to determine the effect of administering Pro Top probiotics with different doses on the absolute weight growth of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Probiotics are mixed with feed with a biofloc cultivation system. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications, namely by adding different doses to the treatment. Treatment A (0.5 grams / kg), B (1 gram / kg), C (2 grams / kg) and D (5 grams / kg). The parameters observed are absolute weight growth. Supporting parameters for air quality are temperature, pH, and DO. Data were analyzed using the ANOVA test. Based on the results of the study, it shows that administering different doses of Pro Top probiotics has a significant effect on the absolute weight growth of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Treatment A (0.5 grams/kg) gave the lowest absolute weight growth of 31.05 grams and treatment D (5 grams/kg) gave the highest absolute weight growth of 40.30 grams. Air quality parameters including air temperature ranged from 25.3 – 26.1°C, acidity level around 7.5 – 8.0. And dissolved oxygen ranged from 4.7 – 5.3 ppm. The results of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the three air quality parameters showed no difference between the treatments of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Abstract

The fisheries sector plays an important role in Indonesia’s economy due to its abundant marine resources; however, unsustainable fishing activities have caused damage to marine ecosystems and a decline in biodiversity. To support sustainable fisheries management, the use of environmentally friendly fishing gear is essential. At the Tenau Coastal Fishing Port (PPP Tenau) in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, handline fishing is the most commonly used traditional fishing method among small-scale fishers because it is selective and causes minimal habitat disturbance. This study aims to analyze the environmental friendliness level of handline fishing gear based on the nine criteria of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF) established by FAO in 1995, which include gear selectivity, habitat impact, fisher safety, catch quality, product safety, by- catch, biodiversity impact, capture of protected species, and social acceptance. The research was conducted from November 2025 to January 2026 using a descriptive quantitative method involving 30 handline fishermen selected from a population of 420 using the Slovin formula with a 20% error rate. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using a weighting system based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (2006). The results are expected to show that handline fishing is categorized as environmentally friendly to highly environmentally friendly and can serve as a basis for developing sustainable fisheries management policies in East Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of combining bait types and immersion durations on the catch yields of blue swimming crabs (Portunus pelagicus) in the waters of Kuala Penet, East Lampung. The research method employed was a field experiment utilizing a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The focus of the study was directed toward two types of bait, namely goldstripe sardine (Sardinella spp.) and chicken intestines, with three variations of immersion duration: 6 hours, 12 hours, 18 hours, and 24 hours. Through statistical analysis, it was discovered that the combination of goldstripe sardine bait and a 6-hour immersion duration provided the most optimal catch yields. Nevertheless, chicken intestines demonstrated strong potential as an economical and sustainable alternative bait at a 12-hour immersion duration. The interaction between the bait type and immersion duration variables proved to be significant, thereby supporting an integrated approach to the management of collapsible pots. These findings provide a scientific basis for formulating sustainable crab fishing guidelines that can be adopted by local fishermen and relevant authorities to support the ecosystem-based conservation of coastal fishery resources in East Lampung.

Abstract

Vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the fastest-growing aquaculture commodities and has become a leading export product in Indonesia. The increasing market demand for vaname shrimp requires continuous efforts to improve production efficiency and shrimp performance. One approach to enhancing shrimp growth and survival is the application of probiotics in feed, which can improve digestive processes, nutrient absorption, and water quality. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different doses of Seita microbiome probiotics added to pellet feed on the survival rate and growth performance of PL-10 vaname shrimp fry (Litopenaeus vannamei). The experiment was conducted using several probiotic dosage treatments, and the observed parameters included survival rate, weight gain, and water quality indicators. The results demonstrated that the application of Seita microbiome probiotics positively influenced shrimp growth and survival. Among the tested treatments, the probiotic dose of 30 mL/kg feed was found to be the most effective and optimal. This treatment produced the highest average survival rate of 90% and an average weight gain of 2.93 g. Furthermore, water quality remained within suitable ranges for shrimp culture, with temperatures of 28–29°C, dissolved oxygen levels of 6–7 ppm, pH values of 8.0–8.2, and salinity levels of 29–30 ppt. These findings indicate that Seita microbiome probiotics can be utilized as a beneficial feed additive to improve the productivity of vaname shrimp farming.

Abstract

Nile tilapiais (Oreochromis Niloticus) popular among fish farmers because it is easy to raise, grows quickly, and does not require specific environmental conditions for cultivation. Based on its morphology, nile tilapiahas a length-to-height ratio of 2:1 and a body height-to-width ratio of 4:1. Its color is grayish-black. In aquaculture, feed is one of the most critical factors to consider, as it provides the primary energy source for growth. In this study, an experiment was conducted to test the effects of different types of pellet feed on nile tilapia fingerlings as treatments, namely Treatment A (100% Feed A), Treatment B (100% Feed B), and Treatment C (50% Feed A + 50% Feed B). The objective of this study was to determine which feed type could optimally promote the absolute length growth of nile tilapia. The experimental design employed a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 9 replicates, yielding 27 experimental units. Using different types of feed, the average absolute growth results were obtained, namely treatment A (100% Feed A) with an average absolute growth of (46.567 cm), followed by treatment C (50% Feed A + 50% Feed B) with an average absolute growth of (44.422 cm), and the lowest in treatment B (100% feed B) with an average absolute growth of (41.511 cm).
