Abstract

This study examines the relationship between sustainability reporting and firm value and investigates whether intellectual capital strengthens this relationship in companies listed in the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII). Firm value is proxied by Price to Book Value (PBV), sustainability reporting is measured using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) disclosure index, and intellectual capital is assessed using the Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC™) model. The sample consists of 30 JII-listed firms in 2024, analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Drawing on signaling theory and the resource-based view, sustainability reporting is expected to function as a credible signal of long-term value creation, while intellectual capital is assumed to enhance the firm’s ability to transform sustainability disclosure into competitive advantage. However, the findings indicate that sustainability reporting does not significantly affect firm value, and intellectual capital does not moderate this relationship. These results suggest that sustainability disclosure in the Islamic capital market context may not yet be perceived as value-relevant information by investors. The absence of a significant effect also raises concerns regarding disclosure quality and the potential perception of greenwashing, where sustainability reporting fulfills regulatory compliance but lacks substantive strategic integration. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the signaling limitations of sustainability reporting and the underutilized strategic role of intellectual capital in emerging Islamic markets.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the causes and impacts of production risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies to deal with risks at Abah Farm dairy goat farm. The data analysis design used is the House of Risk (HOR) analysis. The results of the study showed that the causes and impacts of goat milk production risks consist of the process of doe/nanny rearing, the milking process, and the packaging and distribution process. Risk mapping of goat milk production in the rearing process five activities cause the risk of goat milk production, including feeding activities, animal sanitation, cage sanitation, livestock reproduction, and livestock animal health. Furthermore, in milking goat milk, five activities are causes, namely the milking place (cage), determining the intensity and time of milking, milking preparation, the way during the milking process, and the completion of milking. In the completion and packaging of milk, two activities are caused, namely the handover stage and the goat milk packaging stage. Several mitigation strategies can be carried out, including in the process of raising mothers, the main priority of the mitigation strategy is to adjust the composition of high-protein green feed. Furthermore, in the milking process, the top priority mitigation strategy is to supervise the implementation of the goat milking standard procedure by the supervisor and in the milk packaging and distribution process, the top priority mitigation strategy is to back up goat milk production data in a separate notebook or soft file data storage on a computer or email.

Abstract

Road traffic accidents have remained a major global concern due to their devastating social and economic effects on the individuals, families, society and the nation. While studies have addressed the non-human factors as the cause of road traffic accidents, studies addressing the human factors seem sketchy. Therefore, this study examines the predictive role of reckless driving on road traffic accidents among commercial drivers in Obio/Akpor in Rivers State, Nigeria. Cross-sectional survey design was adopted while purposive sampling technique was used to select the study population. Two validated questionnaires were used to collect data from 238 participants and analyzed using simple linear regression to test a hypothesis which was accepted at p<.001 level of significance. The result demonstrated that reckless driving significantly correlated with road traffic accidents among study participants, R2 =.570, F (1,236) = 270.614, p <.001. Furthermore, reckless driving significantly predicted road traffic accidents among commercial drivers (β = .755, p<.001). The study concludes that reckless driving significantly contributed to road traffic accidents among study participants. The study recommends all stakeholders should take proactive measures to checkmate reckless driving among commercial drivers to reduce road traffic accidents.

Abstract

This study conducted a systematic literature review of the latest empirical and conceptual literature on the barriers faced by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in developing countries as they seek to internationalize. Following the PRISMA 2020 protocol, the researchers analyzed peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025, sourced from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. This review classifies the barriers into two broad categories: internal constraints (financial limitations, human resource deficits, information asymmetry, and marketing weaknesses) and external barriers (institutional weaknesses, regulatory complexity, trade restrictions, and home country effects). The analysis indicates that these barriers rarely operate in isolation. Instead, they form configurations shaped by the interaction between a firm’s resource base, relational capital, and the institutional characteristics of the home country. Findings also indicate that digital capabilities and business networks can mitigate the severity of certain types of barriers, although their effectiveness depends on organizational capacity and the institutional context. This review contributes to the literature on internationalization by consolidating post-pandemic empirical evidence, identifying underutilized theoretical frameworks, and proposing future research directions that emphasize multi-level and context-sensitive analysis of SME internationalization in Southern countries

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Market Aspects (AP), Technical Aspects (AT), Management Aspects (AM), and Financial Aspects (AK) on Business Feasibility (KU) of photocopy service enterprises located around educational areas in Makassar City. A quantitative approach using PLS-SEM was employed with 100 photocopy business owners as respondents. The results show that all research instruments are valid and reliable, and the model obtained an R² value of 0.741, indicating that 74.1% of business feasibility is explained by the four variables. Partially, Market Aspects, Technical Aspects, and Financial Aspects have a positive and significant effect on business feasibility, while Management Aspects show no significant effect. These findings indicate that the feasibility of photocopy businesses is primarily determined by market strength, technical readiness, and financial conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internationalization strategies of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the spice sector through export mechanisms, using PT Adore Rempah Indonesia as a case study. The study employs a qualitative approach using the case study method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation related to production processes, quality control, packaging, and the management of international market networks. Data analysis was performed descriptively using the Uppsala Model and the Resource-Based View perspectives. The results indicate that the success of a company’s internationalization strategy is influenced by several key factors: consistent product quality, strengthening partnerships within the supply chain, implementing product differentiation, and holding certifications that support international trade standards. Additionally, the internationalization process occurs gradually through market learning, adaptation to the needs of international buyers, and the development of global business networks. The research findings confirm that the integration of internal resource strengths, product innovation, and compliance with international standards is a key factor in enhancing the competitiveness of spice SMEs in the global market. This study implies that strengthening production capacity, improving product quality, and developing international partnership networks should be key strategies in promoting the sustainability of SME exports in the spice sector.

Abstract

The internationalization of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) is a strategic issue in the global economic landscape, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia, which face the challenge of limited resources yet vast market potential. This case study explores the internationalization process of Sensatia Botanicals, an MSME specializing in skincare products made from natural botanical ingredients based in Jasri, Karangasem, Bali, which was founded in 2000. A qualitative single-case study approach adopts the Uppsala Internationalization Model integrated with the Resource-Based View (RBV) to analyze the stages of expansion: beginning with experimental exports to the Southeast Asian market (2010–2015), acceleration through global e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Shopee International, and Lazada Global (2016–2020), to deep penetration via distribution partnerships in Europe (Germany, the Netherlands) and North America (2021–present), with exports contributing 40% of the latest annual revenue of Rp 150 billion (2024). The company’s dynamic strategic capabilities include product innovation based on local Balinese resources (such as frangipani and organic turmeric), a commitment to sustainability (zero-waste production using 90% local materials), ethical practices (fair trade with over 500 local farmers), and a portfolio of more than 200 internationally certified product variants, including GMP, MUI Halal, ECOCERT, and USDA Organic—all completely free of parabens, palm oil, and harmful synthetic ingredients. Major challenges such as export regulatory uncertainty, rupiah exchange rate volatility, and competition from global brands (such as The Body Shop or Lush) were successfully navigated through a phased learning strategy, strategic alliances with global suppliers, and AI-driven digital transformation for customer personalization. Findings also indicate that integrating local capabilities (Bali’s unique botanicals) with global adaptation (international certifications and digital agility) yields a sustainable competitive advantage, with international customer retention rates reaching 70% (based on 2023–2024 CRM data), post-pandemic annual export growth averaging 28%, and expansion into 35 countries with over 15,000 global retail stores. This research makes a theoretical contribution by extending the Uppsala model through the lens of dynamic capabilities in the context of emerging market SMEs, while also providing managerial implications for Indonesian SME practitioners in building global competitiveness. Furthermore, from a management education perspective, these findings are relevant for the development of doctoral curricula that integrate real-world case studies of internationalization
