Abstract

Indonesia as the largest archipelagic country has significant fisheries potential, one of which is through the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishing Port (PPS) in Jakarta. This port is a central hub for fish landing and distribution in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings, particularly with the use of purse seine fishing gear. This study aims to analyze the composition of fish catches using purse seine at the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishing Port and identify the species caught. The research method includes direct observation of the catch, documentation, and weighing of each fish species. Primary data is obtained from field observations, while secondary data is gathered from relevant literature. Composition analysis is carried out by calculating the percentage of each fish species relative to the total catch, using the formula Kj = (Ni/N) x 100%. During the study, with a sample of 67 vessels, 31 fish species were recorded, with dominant species including skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) at 55.42%, scads (Decapterus spp.) at 14.11%, bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) at 13.55%, and yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) at 10.33%. The variation in catches was influenced by fishing season, fishing location, vessel size and operational duration, fishing technology and equipment, and weather conditions.

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp is one of the shrimp species with economic value and is one of the national leading commodities. On the other hand, one of the problems in vannamei shrimp cultivation is its slow growth, slow growth is caused by the less optimal absorption of nutrients in the feed. In dealing with these problems, one of the things that is done is the administration of probiotics. The addition of probiotics such as Biolacto containing Lactobacillus sp bacteria to the feed can increase the appetite of shrimp. This study aims to determine the effect of biolacto probiotics on feed on the growth of the absolute weight of vannamei shrimp. This study used a Complete Random Design (RAL) with four treatments: A (feed without a mixture of probiotics), B (probiotics 2 gr/100 gr feed), C (probiotics 4 gr/100 gr feed), and D (probiotics 6 gr/100 gr feed). Treatment B with a concentration of probiotics 2gr/100g feed gave the highest absolute weight growth of 9.2 gr. Water quality data during the study were obtained with water temperature ranging from 28.5 – 29.2°Celsius, salinity ranging from 36 – 37 ppt, pH ranging from 7.5 – 8.0, and dissolved oxygen ranging from 4.0 to 4.63 mg/l. The results of the ANOVA analysis of the four water quality parameters showed no difference between treatments and were in the optimal range of life of vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei).

Abstract

The use of probiotics is very important in cultivation activities. Probiotics are live microorganisms that have a beneficial effect on the host by balancing the microflora in their intestines. In increasing the nutritional content of artificial feed (pellets), the bacteria in probiotics have a mechanism for forming several enzymes for digesting feed. This study aims to determine the effect of giving delacto probiotics at different doses in artificial feed on the absolute weight growth of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Probiotics are mixed with feed using a biofloc cultivation system. The method used in this research was an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications, namely by adding different doses to the treatments. Treatments A (8ml/kg), B (16 ml/kg), C (24 ml/kg) and D (32 ml/kg). The parameter observed was absolute weight growth. Water quality supporting parameters include temperature, pH and DO. Data were analyzed using the ANOVA test. Based on the research results, it shows that giving different doses of delacto probiotics has a significant effect on the absolute weight growth of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Treatment A (8 ml/kg) gave the lowest absolute weight growth of 32.83 grams and treatment D (32 ml/kg) gave the highest absolute weight growth of 40.57 grams. Water quality parameters include water temperature ranging from 25.3 – 26.1֯C, acidity ranging from 7.5 – 8.0. And dissolved oxygen ranges from 4.7 – 5.3 ppm. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) for the three water quality parameters showed no differences between treatments (Oreochromis niloticus) fry.

Abstract

Marine conservation areas play a crucial role in maintaining the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems and fishery resources. However, many fishing vessels still violate regulations by entering and exploiting conservation areas without permission. This study aims to analyze the compliance level of fishing vessels with conservation regulations in the Anambas Islands, identify the factors contributing to non-compliance, and evaluate the effectiveness of the imposed sanctions. The research employs a qualitative and quantitative descriptive approach, utilizing SWOT analysis to assess internal and external factors affecting compliance. Data were collected through vessel movement monitoring using the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS), interviews with fishery inspectors, and analysis of relevant policy documents. The findings indicate that many fishing vessels fail to comply with conservation regulations, mainly due to fish migration into conservation areas, deliberate violations by business operators seeking higher profits, and a lack of understanding among captains regarding conservation boundaries. Additionally, limited human resources and monitoring facilities hinder effective law enforcement. Although sanctions are regulated under Government Regulation No. 85 of 2021, their effectiveness remains low, as evidenced by recurring violations. Therefore, strengthening supervision, optimizing monitoring technology, and raising fishermen’s awareness of conservation regulations are necessary to enhance compliance among fishing vessels and preserve marine ecosystems.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of different settling times on the quality of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) produced without heating (cold process), by comparing two time variations: 3 hours and ±18 hours (variation 1) and 4 hours and ±24 hours (variation 2), through organoleptic tests (color, aroma, taste), acid value, and pH analysis. The results showed that VCO from variation 2 had better quality, with a clear color, a fresh coconut-like aroma, a pleasant taste, an acid value of 1.707 mg KOH/g, and a pH of 6.4–6.5, all of which met the quality standards of SNI 7381-2008. In contrast, variation 1 showed imperfections in oil separation due to shorter settling time, which triggered oxidation and fat hydrolysis. Thus, optimal settling time in the cold process method is a key factor in producing high-quality VCO that is free from rancid odor.

Abstract

Bunga telang (Clitoria ternatea L.) also known as blue pea, is a distinctive flower with single petals, that come in purple, blue, pink, and whote color. This flower is widely used as a natural colorant due to its high anthocyanin content, lemon juice was added to butterfly pea flower to determine antioxidant activity based on the number of hydroxyl groups capable of donating hydrogen atoms to free radical compounds. The color change observed is influenced by the acidity level (pH) of the beverage. Lemon contains a high amount of citric acid, which can flower the pH of the butterfly peaextract solution.  The colot change from blue to purple, redpr even pink indicates reaction anthocyanins to pH changes. Antioxidant activity was teste using the DPPH ( 2,2-diphenyl-picrylhydrazil) method, which measueres the samples ability to scavenge free radical. The lower the IC 150 value obtained, the stronger the antioxidant capacity of the substance. The results showed that the water content in butterfly pea tea was 15,5% and total ash content in butterfly and total ash content was 8%. The IC 50 value obtained was 53,65 which is classified as very strong in antioxidant activity and shows great potential as a natural antioxidant source

Abstract

Taro flour (Colocasia esculenta L. Schott) is a local food ingredient with significant potential to be developed as an alternative carbohydrate source. Its high starch content, dietary fiber, and functional properties make taro flour a promising candidate for use in various food formulations. Moreover, the widespread availability of taro in tropical regions supports its sustainable utilization. However, the development and application of taro flour face several challenges, such as high levels of antinutritional compounds (particularly oxalates), variability in characteristics among cultivars, limited processing technology, and low consumer acceptance. Therefore, innovation in processing techniques is needed, including pre-treatment methods to reduce antinutrient content, starch modification to enhance functionality, and composite formulation with other food ingredients to expand product applications. This article aims to establish a comprehensive conceptual framework for the innovative development of taro flour, focusing on processing technology, functional value, and commercialization potential. Through this approach, the development of taro-based products is expected to increase added value, support local food diversification, and strengthen national food security.
