Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of education (average years of schooling), Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills, Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), and economic growth on the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Sumatera and Java Islands during the 2015–2024 period. The analytical method used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results indicate that education and economic growth have a negative and significant effect on the unemployment rate, implying that improvements in these variables help reduce unemployment. Conversely, ICT has a positive and significant impact, suggesting potential job displacement due to labor force unpreparedness in facing digital transformation. Similarly, the UMP variable also has a positive effect, showing that wage increases without corresponding labor productivity may lead to higher unemployment. This study recommends policy strategies that enhance education quality, ICT-based workforce training, and inclusive economic development to effectively reduce unemployment rates.

Abstract

This study aims to design a business development strategy for Coffee Shop Blok18, a creative coffee shop in Tegal City that carries the concept of creative urban by combining elements of art, community, and customer experience in one space. This study uses a comprehensive analysis approach that includes SWOT, Value Proposition Canvas, Business Model Canvas, and Marketing Mix (7P) to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and to develop strategies that are relevant to market needs and business uniqueness. The results of the analysis show that Coffee Shop Blok18 has strengths in its unique creative concept, loyal customer community, and distinctive coffee shop atmosphere. However, there are weaknesses in aspects of similar competition in the coffee shop industry, service efficiency and product diversification. Great opportunities are open through the trend of drinking coffee among young people, the growth of local creative communities, and the potential for digitalization of services. Threats that need to be anticipated include tight competition in the coffee shop industry and fluctuations in raw material prices. The resulting strategy recommendations include strengthening the value proposition through trend-based product innovation, increasing service efficiency with a pre-order system and digitalization of ordering, and strengthening marketing channels through social media and community collaboration. In addition, business expansion strategies and development of customer experience-oriented business models are also formulated to ensure sustainability and long-term growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of citizen journalism in strengthening journalistic practices on the Instagram account @lampuung. Citizen journalism allows the public to actively participate in the collection, dissemination, and verification of information. The @lampuung account, as an example of a social media platform applying the concept of citizen journalism, serves as a channel for distributing information involving direct contributions from the public, such as photos, videos, and narrative reports on various issues. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, collecting data through in- depth interviews with citizen journalists who contribute to @lampuung. The results of the study indicates that citizen journalism on the @lampuung account enhances journalistic practices through three key contributions : accelerating the dissemination of local information, enriching the diversity of perspectives in reporting, and increasing public engagement in the information sharing process. In addition, the role of admin is crucial in maintaining the credibility and validity of the content through layered verification processes. Despite challenges such as low media literacy, technical limitations, and the risk of spreading hoaxes, @lampuung has managed to effectively manage public participation, creating a participatory, adaptive, and responsible digital information ecosystem. This research contributes to the understanding of how social media particularly Instagram can serve as a collaborative space between the public and the media in strengthening local journalistic practices in the era of new media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of tax planning on earnings management and examine the role of tax rate reductions as a moderating variable. Secondary data were obtained from the annual reports of manufacturing companies in the Consumer Non-Cyclical subsector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2018–2023 period. Using a purposive sampling technique, 62 companies were selected out of a total of 67 that met the criteria, resulting in 372 observations. This research applies a quantitative approach using documentation methods and moderation regression analysis processed with SPSS version 27. The results show that tax planning has a significant and positive effect on earnings management, indicating that companies tend to engage in earnings management as tax efficiency increases through tax-saving strategies. However, when tax rate reduction is used as a moderating variable, the effect of tax planning on earnings management weakens. The tax rate reduction acts as a pure moderator that reduces the intensity of earnings management practices, as the incentive to manipulate earnings becomes lower. Thus, fiscal policies in the form of tax rate reductions can serve as an effective instrument to curb non-transparent financial reporting practices.

Abstract

The problem of food waste in urban areas is becoming an increasingly pressing issue due to increasing public consumption, population growth, and low awareness of waste management. This study aims to analyze the influence of various socio-economic factors on household food waste generation in Imopuro Subdistrict, Metro City. The method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression techniques. The independent variables studied include years of education, number of family members, household expenditure on food, proportion of food expenditure, knowledge of waste management, and involvement in waste management. The results show that the number of family members, household expenditure on food, and proportion of food expenditure have a positive effect on food waste generation, while years of education, knowledge of waste management, and community involvement in waste management have a negative effect. These findings indicate the need for community education and empowerment in sustainable consumption practices as well as strengthening community-based policies for food waste management. This study is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers in designing effective and participatory waste management strategies.
