Abstract

Cross-border tourism is a sector that is increasingly being considered by the Indonesian and Malaysian governments, especially in the West Kalimantan-Sarawak border region through the Entikong State Border Post. Due to its strategic location, this region has great potential for developing cultural tourism, ecotourism, and trade that can benefit both countries. This study uses an ecotourism political economy approach as a critical analytical tool to analyze the potential for cross-border ecotourism development in Entikong using ecotourism political economy theory as an analytical tool. The method used to analyze this study is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected and analyzed using a narrative literature review method. This study found that the potential for cross-border ecotourism development in Entikong from an ecotourism political economy perspective is a novelty, and it can be seen from four aspects: environmental ecological potential, capital economic potential, sociocultural potential, and political potential of power relations. Therefore, the Indonesian and Malaysian governments need to develop a technical cooperation framework and cross-border tourism policies that are not only economically oriented but also consider social and ecological sustainability. Involving local governments and communities in cross-border policy negotiations is crucial.

Abstract

Food SMEs still encounter multiple challenges in managing their raw materials, exemplified by ABC Cireng Factory, a small and medium-sized enteprise in the frozen processed street food sector located in Depok City, dealing with issues such as recurring supruses of tapioca flour raw materials, causing cost inefficiencies and irregularities in order frequencies and quantities monthly. This study aims to assess the inventory management of tapioca flour raw materials at the ABC Cireng Factory by utilizing the company's approach alongside the Just in Time (JIT) and Material Requirement Planning (MRP) methods; to compare all these methods, and ultimately, to suggest a more effective inventory control approach suitable to be implemented. The study reveals that the company's approach results in a total cost of tapioca flour raw material inventory amounting to IDR 11,197,514,500, with an annual raw material purchase of 525,400 kg and an order frequency of 200 times. Using the JIT approach, the overall inventory expense reaches IDR 35,667,065, with a single order size of 1,035 kg and an order frequency of 502 occurrences. In the MIDR approach utilizing the Lot for Lot (LFL) method, the overall inventory cost amounts to IDR 10,067,554,320, featuring a total raw material inventory of 474,950 kg annually and an order frequency of 44 times. With the MIDR method utilizing the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) approach, the overall inventory cost amounts to IDR 10,790,524,400 for an order quantity of 50,976 kg and an order frequency of 10 occurrences. The MIDR approach utilizing the LFL technique is the most appropriate method for implementation at the ABC Cireng Factory.

Abstract

The high demand for healthier food is contributing to the innovation in pasta formulations, traditionally based on durum wheat semolina. In this context, recent reformulation has focused on the addition of plant-based and protein-rich ingredients, such as legumes, pseudocereals, fish protein, and dietary fiber, to enhance nutritional value and functional properties of pasta product. The reformulations cause an increase in protein, fiber content, amino acid, antioxidant capacity, glycemic control, and prebiotic activity. However, ingredient substitutions pose technological challenges, including changes in texture and high losses during the cooking process. Therefore, this study aims to optimize functional pasta product and address technological challenges by applying different processing methods such as fermentation, extrusion, and enzymatic treatments. The results showed that pasta fortification provided substantial nutritional benefits, although the impact on sensory characteristics posed a significant concern. This was because physicochemical properties of functional ingredients could alter the texture, color, and flavor of product, directly impacting consumer acceptance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and optimize the termination process of the Government Credit Card (Kartu Kredit Pemerintah/KKP) at the Salary Based Loan (SBL) Department of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI). The research was motivated by existing administrative challenges, such as prolonged document waiting times and the absence of effective monitoring systems, which resulted in inefficiencies. The methods applied were process mapping and process flow analysis, which were used to visualize workflows, identify bottlenecks, and measure time efficiency. The findings reveal that the existing process required 10,203 minutes (±7 working days) with 16 activities, while the proposed process only required 1,867 minutes (±1 working day) with 10 activities. This reflects a time efficiency improvement of 81.7%, equivalent to saving more than six working days. Strategic changes proposed include workflow simplification, the introduction of a document register system, strengthened inter-unit coordination, and the implementation of a Service Level Agreement (SLA) at each process stage. The redesigned process is expected to provide faster, more transparent, and accountable services, enhance stakeholder satisfaction, and support the objectives of the KKP policy in achieving efficient state budget management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of corn farming in Ruguk Village, Ketapang District, South Lampung Regency. As an agricultural country, Indonesia has an agricultural sector that plays an important role in the economy, where corn is one of the strategic commodities. This study was conducted using a non-discounted business feasibility analysis method, which includes analysis of income, costs, and profits from corn farming. The results of the study showed that the income from corn farming in Ruguk Village was positive and had the potential to be developed. From the feasibility analysis, the Benefit Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio) value was 2.54, which indicates that every Rp 1 of costs incurred produces a net benefit of Rp 2.54. In addition, the Break Even Point (BEP) in terms of quantity was 4,506.7 kg, and the Return On Investment (ROI) reached 153.3%, which indicates that corn farming in this village is feasible to be further developed. This study is expected to provide information and input for farmers and the government in developing corn farming businesses, as well as improving the welfare of the community in Ruguk Village.

Abstract

The support of economic models to a country’s economic agenda and vice versa is not well defined in most developing economies. However, some empirical findings suggest that with commercially viable avenues and practical economic models, sector-led economic and social development could be stimulated by adopted economic models. This study identifies the impact of bottoms up economic models on the Kenyan development trajectory. The five pillar industries: agriculture, industry, housing, healthcare and MSME are used as variables of results. Discussions on the bottoms up and top down models are employed. The period (2023-2025) is used for analytical discussion. With a response rate of 60% from the targeted 28275 households, the results show that although resources distributed through BETA model were stimulants to the five pillars, sectoral specific initiatives incorporating aspects of top down approaches were vital. The study further shows that resource and output of the BETA agenda were affected by time lags. The study recommends that the government could adopt a blended model specific for the different sectors and industry within the pillars and promote effective management of STIIR as this had a positive multiplier effect on all the pillars
