Abstract

This study aims to determine litter production, decomposition rate and diversity of soil macrofauna in secondary forests and candlenut stands. This research was carried out by collecting litter on the littertrap for 30 days then put it on the litterbag, then observed in secondary forests and candlenut stands in Uwemanje Village, Kinovaro District, Sigi Regency, Gawalise Mountains Slope, Central Sulawesi. Macrofauna identification was carried out at the Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University, Palu, from October to December 2019. Parameters observed were litter production, decomposition rate and soil macrofauna. The results showed that secondary forest litter production (2.20 tons / ha / month) was higher than candlenut stands (2.14 tons / ha / month). The rate of litter decomposition in secondary forests is classified as moderate with a percentage of 17% -19% and the decomposition rate of candlenut stands is relatively slow with a percentage of 10-12%. The diversity of soil macrofauna species in secondary forests is similar to candlenut stands. Similarity index or similarity of soil macrofauna types in secondary forests and candlenut stands is worth 75.67%.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe correlation between: (1) learning style and critical thinking skill; (2) learning style and cognitive ability in chemistry subject; and (3) critical thinking skill and cognitive ability of students in chemistry subject at Class X of SMKN I Bungku Tengah. The population of the research was 48 students at Class X of SMKN I Bungku Tengah registered in 2013/2014 academic year. The sample of the research was the overall of the population member (saturated sample). The collecting data used questionnaire and multiple choice test. Data of the research were analyzed by using correlation and regression analyses. Based on the data analyses, it could be concluded that there were positive correlations between: (1) the learning style and the critical thinking skill; (2) the learning style and the cognitive ability; and (3) the critical thinking skill and the cognitive ability in chemistry subject of the students at Class X of SMKN IBungku Tengah.

Abstract

The research aims were to analyze the incomes of wetland rice farming system under FEATI program and non-FEATI program in Malonas Village Damsol Sub District of Donggala District and to analyze the disparity of incomes betwen the farmers under the FEATI program and non-FEATI program in Malonas Village Damsol Sub District of Donggala District. The method used was survey in which samples were proportionally sampled. The research results showed that the average income generated from the wetland rice farming system in Malonas village Damsol Sub District of Donggala Distric were IDR 18.742.102,94 ha-1 planting season (PS)-1 and IDR 7.010.794,49 ha-1 PS-1 under the FEATI program and the non-FEATI program, respectively. The differences was IDR 11.731.308,45 ha-1PS-1 with the probability value of 0.001 <0.05 or tcounted = 8,16 > 1.98 at 95% confidence level. The production of wetland rice farming system under the FEATI program was 1767,47 kg ha-1PS-1 greater than that under the non-FEATI program with the probability value was 0.001 <0.05 or tcounted = 11,82 > 1.98 at 95% confidence level.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the profile of conceptual knowledge of seventh grade students Al-Azhar Palu of junior high school in solving linear equation-one variable (LEOV) problem. Subjects of the research were students from mathematics high ability. Data collection used mathematics achievement test, conceptual knowledge test, and interview protocol. Data of the research were analyzed by applying qualitative analysis. The result of data analysis in this research is: (1) there are by mistake in comprehending concept in classifying LEOV and non-LEOV;(2) can making a generalization by constructing a mathematical model from a story problem type; and (3)can determining equivalent equation forms, and remembering definition of order-1of LEOV and properties of LEOV.

Abstract

This research applied qualitative research which used descriptive method in order to describe the general epistemological beliefs of middle school students in two schools with different academic levels. The subjects of this research were the eleventh graders of SMA Al-azhar Palu and six the ninth graders of SMP Al-azhar Palu. The selection of respondents and the collection data of epistemological beliefs using EBAPS (Epistemological Beliefs Assessment for Physics Science). Interviews were carried out to elicit students' epistemological beliefs information. Analysis showed that the two academic levels have the same beliefs on dimensional Structure of Scientific Knowledge (SSK), Nature of Knowing and Learning (NKL) and Real-Life Applicability (RLA), and have different beliefs on Evolving dimensions of Knowledge (EK) and Source of Ability to Learn (SAL).

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: (1) know out the effect of production variable factors; raw materials (m³), labor, and production tools of wood processing. (2) to calculate the production income, and (3) to state the feasibility level of PT. Tatehe Nusa Jaya in relation to Timber Product Business Industry License in Palu City. This research was carried out for five months, from February to June 2014. The population was the duration of sawn timber processing activities at PT. Tatehe Nusa Jaya (36 months). The sample was taken monthly. Then sawn timber processing revenue was affected by the fixed costs, variable costs and revenues. Cobb-Douglass analysis production function was used to answer the problem statement of this research. This research uses qualitative descriptive design. The results of production function showed that coefficient determination was 0.828. It means that the model was effective to be applied since the ability to explain the Y factor in the changes of Xi variables (X1, X2, and X3) was 82.8% or high. Meanwhile, the remaining 17.2% was caused by external factors which was not observed in this research. The operating timber product business industry revenues of PT. Tatehe Nusa Jaya was profitable. The company's revenue was Rp. 31.772.648.018,-. Variable production factors influence the increase in operating revenues IUIPHHK PT. Tatehe Nusa Jaya. This high revenues was taken from the small ratio of total production cost in comparison to the total income. Thus economically good to run because the value of the level of feasibility is Rp. 13.74 and because the value of the RC ratio> 1. It means that the feasibility of company was 1: 13,74.

Abstract

The research objective is to estimate and study the genaral picture of dwarf buffalo (Bubalus sp) in oder that their presence around can still be recorded and better managed in Sulawesi. Descriptive research method was used by applying line transect to observe population quadrat transect was used to analyze habitat composition. Based on footprints found, there were estimated that were about less that 12 adult, 8 teenagers and 5 young dwarf buffaloes around within 13 obrvation points with density of 1.23 dwarf buffaloes/km2 or around 1 – 2 per square kilometres. For habitat vegetaton, there were about 85 species function as supporting habitat and about 33 species as food sources. Laboratory analysis noted that soil texture on the sites are clay with salinity level of 0.72 µS/cm. In addition, it was recorded that the temperature during the morning time were about 140 C – 180 C, 180 C – 200 C during the noon time, and arond 200 C – 150 C during the evening time. To summarize, the population sze of dwarf buffalo can be conculded as low leading to extinction if illegal hunting and habitat destruction continuously occur.

Abstract

This research aimed at determining the process of germination and growth of nutmeg seeds to obtain superior nutmeg seeds in Baolan Sub District of Tolitoli District. The research was conducted in two stages of experiments. The first stage involved soaking the seeds under different periods including with no soaking (A0), two hour soaking period (A1) and three hour soaking period (A2). This experiment used a Completely Randomized Design where each treatment had seven replicates. Greatest germination rate of 34.29% was found in the three hour soaking period after the seeds were allowed to sproud for six weeks. This was significantly different from the other two treatments under which treatments the germination rate was only 26.43%. At the second stage, the soaking period treatments were combined with various growing media including T1 (soil:sand:cow manure bokashi; v/v/v), T2 (soil:sand:cow manure bokashi; v/v/2v), and T3 (soil:sand:cow manure bokashi; v/v/3v) . The experiment was arranged in a Two Factorial Randomized Block Design where each treatments had four replicates. The average seedling height of 18.85 cm found in the A2T3 treatment 12 weeks after planting (WAP) was significantly higher than in the A1T2 and A0T1 under which treatments the heights were only 14.45 cm and 12.77 cm, respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to be improve activity and science achievement at fifth grade SD Inpres 2 Kayumalue Ngapa by application of guided inquiry learning model. This study is classroom action research that refers to the Kemmis and Taggart model which consists of four stages namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The Learning was done for 3 cycles, each cycle conducted in three meetings. The data was analyse by used qualitative analysis techniques for learning process and quantitative analysis for learning outcomes. Based on classical completeness and absorption, it could be said the achievement of each end of the cycle of 20 students always increasing. Based on the percentage of achieved of students and teacher activity from the first cycle until third cycle the achievement were increased. Achievement of completeness criteria and absorption by way classical, influenced by the optimal activity of students and teachers during the learning takes place.

Abstract

The research aimed to describe the influence of instruction model and self-efficacy to the student’s mathematics learning achievements. The research used quasi-experiment method with 2 x 2 factorial designs. Population of this research was students at grade XP.Mia SMA Negeri 1 Parigi in District of South Parigi. Sample of this research was students at Grade XE (28 students) and students at grade XF (30 students). Data was collcted by simple random sampling technique. Variable of this research was namely: independent variable was instruction model and self-efficacy and dependent variable was mathematics learning achievements. The data was collected by documentation, questionnaire, and learning achievement test. The result of the research was shown: (1) There was a significant different of student’s mathematics achievements between students were learning by PBL instruction model and studens were learning by STAD type of cooperative learning; (2) There was a significant different of student’s mathematic learning achievements with high self-efficacy and student’s achievements with low self-efficacy; (3) There was an interaction between teacher instruction model and student self-efficacy; (4) student’s mathematics achievements with high self-efficacy, who was learning with PBL instruction model don’t be better than student, who was learning with STAD type of cooperative learning model; (5) Student’s mathematics learning achievements with low self-efficacy, who was learning with PBL instruction model were better than student who learning by STAD type of cooperative learning model; (6) Student’s mathematics learning achievements who were learning with PBL instruction model, between student with high self-efficacy better than student’s with low self-efficacy; (7) Student’s mathematics learning achievements who learning with STAD type of cooperative learning model, between student with high self-efficacy better than student’s with low self-efficacy
