Abstract

Character education management based on the personality quantum approach with the Quran in early life is one of the most important predictors of human character formation. The goal of raising well-rounded, intelligent children will never be achieved without strict and practical guidance. This study used a qualitative case study method through field observations and in-depth interviews with leaders, teachers, and parents of students, with field analysis techniques to understand the strategy and management of early childhood character education with the quantum personality method. The result showed that neuroscience-based character education was structured through the curriculum, the preparation of educators, and the availability of adequate infrastructure, which was focused on the formation of cognition and morality of early childhood students. The quantum personality method through management following the Quran could shape students to think more logically and behave positively. The study concludes that the management of early childhood character education with the quantum personality method at Raudhatul Athfal Bait Qur'ani based on neuroscience turns out to have convergence in the learning process in aqliyah (logical thinking) and nafsiyah. This research contributes to a growing body of literature on the potential of neuroscience in the context of character education for young people. Furthermore, it is hoped that it will eventually be recognized as its field of study inside science rather than being dismissed as pseudoscience.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the tahsin method as an effort of Islamic religious education teachers have made at public elementary schools (Sekolah Dasar Negeri, SDN) in Palangka Raya City to deal with learning loss by reciting the Quran post-online learning. The research method was qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection techniques used interviews, observation, and documentation. The study results showed that the efforts made by Islamic religious education (Pendidikan Agama Islam, PAI) teachers were to provide intensive guidance to students to improve makharijul letters and tajwid from memorizing short surahs that should have been mastered. During online learning, the students were only asked to give memorization via video, and then the teacher gave comments regarding their reading. However, it was less effective in improving their memorization reading of makharijul letters and tajwid. This ability was missing in the PAI subject. So the effort in the form of intensive guidance by using the Quran tahsin method was carried out to repair learning loss or lost abilities in students.

Abstract

This article investigates the students' and teachers' perceptions of English debating and how English debating could foster religious moderation. This study employed a qualitative method with a narrative inquiry design in collecting the data in the form of stories from the members and the coach of an English debating club at a Tahfizul Quran boarding school senior high school. The data of this study were collected through semi-structured interviews with the English teacher, who also performed as the coach, and three former members of the club who had experienced one-year membership and had joined English debating competitions. The data were then analyzed using thematic coding to identify the themes from the data groups that correspond to the research questions and become the study's findings. The findings revealed that English debating had improved all students' English skills. As they were always triggered to build convincing arguments from different perspectives, they promoted their confidence to speak in public, critical and systematic thinking ability, and teamwork. English debating sometimes presented controversial issues against Islamic values and was troublesome for the students. Through English debating, they recognized that diversity and plurality existed, and at the same time, they could explore the universal values of Islam. English debating is beyond arguing pros and cons; it was a sequence that built many skills linguistically and non-linguistically.

Abstract

The existence of reading the Quran learning in school is one of the Muslim student's parent's wishes. However, the existing phenomenon shows that many schools cannot allocate sufficient time for this learning. This study seeks to reveal the management of learning tahsin and tahfizul Quran in public schools. This study used a qualitative method, in-depth interview techniques, field observations, and document reviews. Participants consisted of school principals, deputy principals, ustaz, tahfiz, and tahsin program coordinators, and 11 students. Results of the study showed that the management of tahsin and tahfiz learning was carried out by optimizing management functions that were supported by the leadership of competent principals and ustaz so that most Muslim students are finally able to read the Quran well. Some of them are even able to memorize the thirtieth juz. The results of this study indicate the importance of consistent management in tahsin learning, the lack of seriousness in management results in low learning effectiveness.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of loneliness-related online learning on students during emergency remote teaching. Specifically, this study aims to: (1) evaluate the consistency between times of loneliness, burnout, and social self-efficacy, (2) examine the differences in the three measurements based on gender, and (3) examine the detrimental effects of loneliness on burnout and social self-efficacy of students at two Islamic state universities. Using a short-term longitudinal study design involving 237 students from two state Islamic universities. Data were analyzed using descriptive, comparative, correlation, and regression to test the proposed model. The results showed that loneliness and burnout at one point in time could consistently predict loneliness and burnout in the future. The comparative test results found differences in loneliness, burnout, and social self-efficacy based on gender, giving mixed results: significant differences were only found in loneliness (T2) and burnout (T2). Finally, there was no significant difference in social self-efficacy between male and female students at the two-time points.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the academic fraud students committed to doing assignments during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. Data collection was done by randomly distributing Google Forms to high school students in West Java Province. There were about 540 samples that were successfully captured in this study. The data analysis technique was carried out employing descriptive statistics. The results showed that as many as 88.3% of students stated that they committed academic fraud in doing the assignments given to them by the teacher. The fraud was done by copying and pasting a friend's assignment from the internet and doing things without obligation. It was done because there was no particular action from the teacher against cheating students. Particular policies need to be made by schools; namely, the teacher instills the values of Honesty and other anti-corruption values in the learning process. Besides that, the use of technology is to determine whether there is an element of plagiarism in student assignments. Parents at home also need to instill anti-corruption values in their children from an early age so that they are familiar with these things.

Abstract

Pesantren prioritizes spiritual improvement and good character for students based on the five souls (panca jiwa). When the soul or mind is stable, it can automatically reveal good character and qualities. The value of the five souls is a combination of various crystallizations of pesantren values, which must be integrated and taught in all santri (Islamic Students) activities. Five souls are enthusiastically assimilated in doing all activities to awaken other positive characters. The discussion aims to find out the form of internalization of character education based on the five souls at the Tahfizul Quran Boarding School in West Sumatra. This research approach is the descriptive-qualitative approach. The discussion results showed that the five young souls are honest, independent, brotherly, and free spirits to prepare the concluding virtuous, noble, and meaningful individuals in better directions in life. Values were instilled by the following methods: the exemplary method, the habitual method, giving advice, methods of motivation and threats, methods of persuasion, and the story method. Supporting factors for implementing character education have good management performance, the active role of the kiai as the pesantren leader and the ustaz with high discipline. The obstacles are students' lack of awareness and willingness to follow the pesantren education system, the difficulty of adjusting to pesantren activities, and not all students being able to comply.
