Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease that is included in the chronic disease category and is expected to increase, so a method is needed to carry out the control recommended by the Ministry of Health in the form of intelligent management of diabetes mellitus. The management given to people with diabetes is developed based on the theory of the Health Promotion Model and the form of Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) intervention. The aim was to analyze the simulation of interprofessional collaboration on self-awareness of diabetes mellitus patients. Quasi Experiment Pre-Post Test with Control Group Design for 4 weeks consisting of 8 sessions and each session + 30 minutes. The samples were taken using simple random sampling technique, namely type 2 diabetes mellitus as many as 58 respondents in each intervention and control group. The instrument used a diabetes mellitus self-awareness questionnaire with 51 statement items that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis used a paired t-test. There was a significant difference in the self-awareness of people with type 2 diabetes before and after being given the Interprofessional Collaboration Simulation (IPC-S) which had a significant p-value of 0.001 <0.05. In the control group, there was no significant difference in the self-awareness of people with type 2 diabetes before and after being given Interprofessional Collaborative Simulation (IPC-S) with a significant p-value of 0.569 > 0.05. There was a difference in self-awareness in the intervention group because the method provided was complete which was adapted to the needs of the patient so far, to still be able to manage the disease so that blood sugar levels can be controlled. This activity directly has also made the respondents in the intervention group have more self-awareness, higher than the control group.

Abstract

Postpartum contraception prevents about 30% of maternal deaths and 10% of infant deaths within two years. As many as 62% of women who gave birth did not use contraception immediately after delivery. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the correlation between maternal knowledge and husband's support for postpartum family planning use. This study was a cross-sectional study. The data was collected by interview and filling out questionnaires. The sample included mothers with no history of chronic and infectious diseases who were 42 days postpartum. Bivariate analysis was performed using chi-squared to evaluate the correlation between independent variables and dependent variables. A total of 42 women who gave birth were identified in this study, 21.4% were using postpartum family planning and 78.6% were not using postpartum family planning. Factors associated with postpartum family planning use were husband's support (p=0.038), while maternal knowledge was not associated with postpartum family planning use (p=0.480). Husband's support is associated with postpartum family planning use. Husband's support for family planning will have a significant impact on the family's decision to use a particular family planning tool or method.

Abstract

There are two therapeutic methods for treating insomnia in perimenopause, namely chemical and complementary treatment methods. One of the complementary therapies for reducing the problem of insomnia in perimenopause is acupressure. The design of the research used a pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest. A pretest was conducted before the treatment of giving acupressure. The population was 32 perimenopause women registered at the Jatinom elderly posyandu in Kecamatan Kanigoro Kabupaten Blitar area. The researchers calculated the sample size using the Slovin formula at a 5% confidence level resulting in a sample size of 30 people. Purposive sampling was used as the sampling technique. The analysis was carried out to see the effect of acupressure massage therapy on insomnia in perimenopause women, using the paired sample t-test. The result of this research revealed that there was a significant difference in insomnia scores before and after acupressure treatment in reducing insomnia in perimenopause women. The treatment of Acupressure was effective in reducing the insomnia disorders of perimenopause. It is suggested that perimenopause women to apply this method to reduce their insomnia since it can be done independently.

Abstract

High outpatient revisit interest reflects good health services that meet patient expectations. However, in Lumajang, 25 health centers experienced a decline in outpatient revisit numbers. This study aimed to examine the relationship between patient satisfaction and dimensions of service quality with outpatient revisit interest at Lumajang Health Center. Using a cross-sectional design, the study involved 386 outpatients selected through purposive sampling. Inclusion criteria included health centers with a decline of over 200 visits, patients aged 15-50 years, literate, spiritually healthy, and visiting for the first time between December 2023 and February 2024. Exclusion criteria were severe illness or mental disorders hindering questionnaire completion. Data were collected through direct questionnaires and analyzed using chi-square tests. Results showed that 90.4% of patients were satisfied with health services. Service quality dimensions scored as follows: tangibility (91.2%), reliability (60%), responsiveness (93.8%), health insurance (95.6%), and empathy (87.8%). The chi-square analysis revealed a significant relationship between responsiveness and revisit interest (p=0.034). However, no significant relationship was found between revisit interest and satisfaction, tangibility, reliability, health insurance, or empathy (p>0.05). In conclusion, while most patients expressed satisfaction with the services provided, the key factor influencing revisit interest was the responsiveness of health workers. This highlights the importance of responsive healthcare in fostering patient loyalty and improving outpatient revisit rates.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a health problem throughout the world, and its prevalence continues to increase every year. Diabetes mellitus is often not realized by diabetics because it does not produce typical symptoms in the early period. Diabetes is a non-communicable disease (NCD) because of 80% unhealthy behavior. The problem in this research is that the diabetes risk group cannot yet carry out independent early detection of diabetes; they are not aware of their health conditions related to the incidence of DM, so they have not made efforts to change behavior to prevent diabetes mellitus and reduce risk factors that can be changed. This research aimed to determine the effect of early self-detection of diabetes mellitus on the health behavior of DM risk groups based on the Health Belief Model (HBM). This quantitative research used a quasi-experiment design with a one-group pre-post-test approach. The sample was 100 respondents by purposive sampling. The data collection used questionnaires based on HBM. The research intervention was by teaching the use of the SEDAB application and educating on healthy behavior to prevent DM; the interval between intervention and post-test was 4 weeks. Analysis of research data uses the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The research results show that the intervention has the effect of increasing perceived susceptibility (p-value=0.000), Perceived Severity (p-value=0.000), Perceived Barriers (p-value=0.000), Perceived Benefit Perceived (p-value=0.000), cues to action (p-value=0.017), Self-efficacy (p-value=0.000), and healthy behavior (p-value=0.000). Early detection of diabetes in diabetes risk groups is essential to prevent DM and improve healthier lifestyles.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that contributes significantly to the global health burden, with a rising prevalence globally. Understanding nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) is crucial because knowledge provides essential insights into how diet affects blood glucose levels, a positive attitude encourages support for patient adherence, and efficient practices ensure the consistent application of dietary management strategies. This study aimed to assess the KAP among nurses about the nutritional management of Diabetes. This descriptive study involved 100 nurses working in medical and surgical wards of a hospital, with 99 respondents included in the analysis following the dropping out of one respondent. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire designed to evaluate the KAP of nurses concerning diabetes nutritional management. The study found disparities in the levels of knowledge among nurses: 14.1% demonstrated high knowledge, 49.5% demonstrated intermediate knowledge, and 36.4% demonstrated poor knowledge. Despite these variations, none demonstrated a bad attitude, a lousy 11.1% demonstrated an intermediate attitude, and the majority of nurses (88.9%) exhibited high attitudes towards Diabetes nutritional management. Additionally, 0% engaged in harmful practices, 4% demonstrated intermediate practices, and nearly all respondents (96%) reported engaging in good practices. These results underscore the need for targeted educational interventions to bridge knowledge gaps. Enhancing nurses' knowledge in Diabetes nutritional management is essential to improve the quality of care and health outcomes for patients with Diabetes.

Abstract

Fitness for children is related to optimal physical condition. Fitness influences mental and social development, especially children's concentration and learning abilities. Fitness must be maintained to support activities. Diet is a supporting factor for children's physical fitness. Diet is the foundation for long-term health. The research aimed to determine factors related to eating patterns that influence children's physical fitness. The research design was cross-sectional. The research population was school children aged 10-12 years totaling 96 students in 2023 using the total sampling method. The independent variables were BMI (Body Massa Index), physical activity, and rest, and the dependent variable was the child's physical fitness. The instrument used the Physical Activity Questionnaire to measure activity, eating patterns using Food Frequency, rest using The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and physical fitness, calculated using the Technical Guidelines for Health Screening and Periodic Examination of School-Age Children and Adolescents in 2018. The analysis test used linear regression (P<0.05) to determine the relationship between factors related to eating patterns and influencing children's physical fitness. The results of the study showed that there was no relationship between BMI (p 0.661), physical activity (0.783), and rest (p 0.756) on eating patterns. An eating pattern is a significant mediator for physical activity and rest but not for BMI (p 0.733) on children's physical fitness. Rest (p 0.000) and physical activity (p 0.004) influence children's physical fitness. BMI does not measure the position and location of fat, so people with the same BMI have different fitness levels.

Abstract

The contraceptive injection method using medroxyprogesterone (a type of progestin) which is injected every 3 months has side effects, namely menstrual cycle disorders. The longer the injection is used, the more women do not menstruate and also experience irregular bleeding. This was a descriptive study that aimed to see the menstrual disorders of 3-month contraceptive injection acceptors at the Binangun Midwife Independent Practice, Blitar Regency. The population in this study were active contraceptive injection acceptors who visited the Binangun Midwife Independent Practice, Blitar Regency, with an average population of 87 people. The sample in this study was 3-month contraceptive injection acceptors who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of samples in this study was 66 people with a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis used frequency distribution to describe menstrual disorders experienced by 3-months Contraceptive Injection acceptors. The results of this study indicated that the menstrual disorders experienced by 3-months contraceptive injection acceptors were mostly amenorrhea, namely 53 people (80.3%). While bleeding outside of menstruation was 10 people (15.2%) and the rest, namely 3 people (4.5%) did not experience menstrual disorders. The 3-months contraceptive injection method has been proven effective in preventing pregnancy, the therapy needs to pay attention to the side effects caused so as not to interfere with the 3-months Contraceptive Injection acceptors.
