Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that contributes significantly to the global health burden, with a rising prevalence globally. Understanding nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) is crucial because knowledge provides essential insights into how diet affects blood glucose levels, a positive attitude encourages support for patient adherence, and efficient practices ensure the consistent application of dietary management strategies. This study aimed to assess the KAP among nurses about the nutritional management of Diabetes. This descriptive study involved 100 nurses working in medical and surgical wards of a hospital, with 99 respondents included in the analysis following the dropping out of one respondent. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire designed to evaluate the KAP of nurses concerning diabetes nutritional management. The study found disparities in the levels of knowledge among nurses: 14.1% demonstrated high knowledge, 49.5% demonstrated intermediate knowledge, and 36.4% demonstrated poor knowledge. Despite these variations, none demonstrated a bad attitude, a lousy 11.1% demonstrated an intermediate attitude, and the majority of nurses (88.9%) exhibited high attitudes towards Diabetes nutritional management. Additionally, 0% engaged in harmful practices, 4% demonstrated intermediate practices, and nearly all respondents (96%) reported engaging in good practices. These results underscore the need for targeted educational interventions to bridge knowledge gaps. Enhancing nurses' knowledge in Diabetes nutritional management is essential to improve the quality of care and health outcomes for patients with Diabetes.

Abstract

Body weight is a crucial aspect in martial arts sports, as it is directly related to determining the competition class that an athlete will participate in. To achieve their ideal target weight required for their respective classes, each athlete has their own perception of the body weight status they desire. This perception is often closely linked to their body image or view of their current physical form. This research was conducted with the aim of comprehensively describing nutritional perceptions, body image profiles, and the relationship between nutritional perceptions and body image among martial arts athletes at the West Java Student Sports Education and Training Center (PPLP). This research involved 45 martial arts athletes from the West Java PPLP institution, comprising 25 males and 20 females. The research design used was a cross-sectional survey with total sampling technique. Nutritional perception and body image assessments were conducted using the Nutritional Perception Screening Questionnaire (NPSQ9) and Figure Rating Scale (FRS) instruments. The findings showed that on average, the athletes' nutritional perceptions were in the good category. However, the obtained body image profile yielded negative results, meaning that their current body shape did not match the desired body shape of the athletes. The bivariate correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between nutritional perceptions and body image among martial arts athletes at the West Java PPLP, with a significance value of 0.164 (p>0.05). Although the body image profiles of males were negative and females positive, there was no difference in perception between them. This was because the athletes were more focused on meeting the requirements for their competition class rather than attaining their desired body image.

Abstract

Sumedang Regency in West Java has a high level of disaster vulnerability such as landslides, floods, and tornadoes. To improve the rapid response of Disaster Management, BPBD Sumedang developed the SITABAH application as a digital platform for Disaster Information Reporting and management. However, the effectiveness of its use by the community of Desa Tangguh Bencana (DESTANA) has not been known thoroughly. This study aims to evaluate the level of use of the SITABAH application by DESTANA members in Tanjungkerta district with a descriptive quantitative approach on 85 subjects selected through convenience sampling. Research instruments referring to The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) include aspects of knowledge, application use, social support, and technical capabilities. The results showed that most subjects had a low level of use of SITABAH, both in frequency, feature understanding, and reporting participation. Knowledge and technical skills are also low, while social support and accessibility are in the medium category. This finding shows that SITABAH has not been optimally utilized by DESTANA members. Capacity building, continuous socialization, and technical assistance are needed to strengthen the implementation of community-based disaster systems in Sumedang Regency.
