Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve the ability of first-grade students to sequence objects/pictures based on size through the “buka tutup caping berangka” (numbered cone opening-closing) game at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Ngrambe. The study followed the Kemmis and McTaggart model across two cycles, involving 22 students and one classroom teacher as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and tests, then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative techniques. Results showed that the pre-action average score was 67.27 with 31.8% of students reaching the completion criterion. This increased to an average of 75.45 (50% completion) in Cycle I, and further improved to 78.63 for individual assessment (77.3% completion) and 84.8 for group assessment (100% completion) in Cycle II. These findings indicate that the caping berangka game effectively improves students’ size-sequencing ability while fostering active and enjoyable learning.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is one of the essential competencies that elementary school students need to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics learning. However, various assessment results indicate that Indonesian students' numeracy literacy skills still need improvement. This study aims to analyze the numeracy literacy skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in solving mathematics problems through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Articles were identified using the Publish or Perish application through the Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar databases, covering publications from 2020 to 2026. Based on the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten relevant articles were selected and analyzed using content analysis. The findings reveal that the numeracy literacy skills of fourth-grade students are generally at a low to moderate level. Most students experience difficulties in understanding problem contexts, identifying relevant information, selecting appropriate solution strategies, and interpreting the results of mathematical problem-solving. These skills are influenced by several factors, including reading comprehension, learning motivation, teachers' instructional strategies, and the availability of learning resources. Therefore, contextual and problem-based mathematics instruction is necessary to enhance elementary school students' numeracy literacy skills.

Abstract

Product assessment is an authentic assessment technique that measures both the process and the final quality of the work produced by learners, going beyond what a written test alone can capture. This article presents a conceptual review of product assessment, drawing on a library-based synthesis of textbooks and recent journal articles. The discussion covers the meaning of product assessment, its three developmental stages (preparation, production, and appraisal), its purposes, its two scoring techniques (holistic and analytic), and its advantages and limitations. An illustrative application in a science lesson on the water cycle is presented, including a scoring rubric and the scoring formula used to convert raw scores into a final grade. The review shows that product assessment gives a more complete picture of learners' cognitive, psychomotor, and affective competencies than conventional testing, and is increasingly relevant under competency-based curricula, although it demands more time, clearer rubrics, and adequate facilities to be implemented effectively.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the contribution of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) at the elementary school level in internalizing Pancasila values, strengthening nationalistic commitment, and constructing students' accountability. The methodological approach applied is a literature review through a descriptive qualitative design, utilizing secondary data from reputable scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025, which were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The research findings confirm that civic instruction plays a crucial role in students' moral reconstruction by instilling ideological principles, patriotism, and personal responsibility. The efficacy of these learning outcomes heavily relies on the integration of active and contextual pedagogical strategies, although practical implementation is still hindered by challenges such as the hegemony of conventional expository methods, a shortage of interactive media, and a lack of synergistic partnership between educational institutions and the family ecosystem. Therefore, the implementation of innovative reforms in civic education is an absolute prerequisite to optimize the holistic acceleration of student character building.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of the essential competencies that students should develop in mathematics learning. However, many students still experience difficulties in solving problems that require reasoning and the application of various solution strategies. This study aimed to analyze elementary school students' problem-solving abilities in solving open-ended word problems based on Polya's theory. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving four sixth-grade students of SDN Sogo 01 as the research subjects. Data were collected through a written test consisting of one open-ended word problem, and the results were analyzed based on Polya's four stages of problem solving: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. The findings revealed that all participants were able to understand the problem and successfully implement their solution plans. At the devising a plan stage, three participants were able to develop systematic solution strategies and apply more than one solution method, while one participant was less accurate in selecting an appropriate strategy. At the looking-back stage, three participants verified their solutions, whereas one participant did not complete the verification process. Therefore, the students' problem-solving abilities based on Polya's theory were generally categorized as good. Nevertheless, students still require further practice in developing systematic solution strategies and verifying both the problem-solving process and the final solutions, particularly when solving open-ended word problems

Abstract

The formation of students' character demands the instillation of tolerance from the elementary school level. Based on this, the study aims to examine the role of teachers in developing tolerance through PPKn (Citizenship Education). The research locus is the second-grade students of SDN Glonggong 2. A descriptive qualitative approach is used. Semi-structured interviews with second-grade teachers become the primary data source. The analysis includes three stages: reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Field findings identify various efforts by teachers. Exemplary behavior, positive habituation, dialogical conflict guidance, and the integration of Pancasila values in learning activities are the strategies implemented to instill tolerance. This process is supported by the application of various strategies, including lectures, providing examples, role-playing, group work, and outdoor learning. The implementation of these strategies has a positive impact on developing mutual respect, cooperation skills, and respect for differences among students. Nevertheless, the process of instilling tolerance still faces challenges such as the limited understanding of students regarding the concept of tolerance and the influence of the family environment on character formation. Therefore, synergy between school and family becomes an important factor in supporting the successful instillation of tolerance attitudes in students.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize dominant issues in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum from the perspective of educational management and to propose a curriculum management framework for strengthening deep learning in schools. This study used a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA 2020. Literature was collected from Google Scholar, Garuda, SINTA, DOAJ, ERIC, Scopus, and Crossref using Indonesian and English keywords. From 312 initial records, 30 articles published between 2021 and 2026 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic synthesis. The findings show that Merdeka Curriculum implementation is shaped by seven major themes: curriculum leadership, teacher readiness, professional development, assessment management, resource support, monitoring and evaluation, and deep learning integration. The synthesis indicates that curriculum implementation is not merely a pedagogical issue, but an educational management issue involving leadership, coordination, teacher capacity, supervision, assessment, and continuous improvement. This study proposes an input–process–output–outcome curriculum management framework to strengthen curriculum enactment and meaningful learning. The study contributes to educational management literature by integrating curriculum implementation issues into a systematic management framework.
