Many studies have linked knowledge management and human resource development to create standardized services. However, the relationship between the two in the hospitality industry is still lacking as an object of research. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of knowledge management on the development of hospitality HR in South Sulawesi. This research uses a quantitative approach with inferential statistical analysis. This research was conducted in three selected districts, namely, Bone Regency, Soppeng Regency, and Wajo Regency, which were the research locus. The population in this study were all-star and non-star hotel employees in the three districts. The total sample is 200 hotel employees and respondents are selected using the accidental method. Data collection using a questionnaire that was built based on previous research. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Modeling, which is processed in Linear Structural Relation software (LISREL 8.5). The results indicated that there was a significant influence on the development of human resources in hospitality. This means that to improve the outcome of hospitality HR including education, training and the development of the hospitality industry is required to be able to maintain and maintain knowledge management through the implementation of job procedures, able to transfer personal knowledge and technological mastery. Knowledge management directly has a little positive and significant impact on employee performance, but simultaneously Knowledge Management has a very positive and significant effect on employee performance through HR development. This research implies that performance-based training and development and application of knowledge management should be carried out simultaneously in the hospitality industry to produce standardized services in each district. Keywords: Employee Performance; Human Resource Development; Knowledge Management; Linear; Structural Equation Modeling; and Structural Relation software.

This study discusses the praxis of human equality among mountains farming communities inPetungkriyono Subdistrict, Pekalongan, Central Java, through long-term historical-ethnographic observations on local political and economic activities in village head election and livestock raising. Village communities are always divided by hierarchical social structures between ordinary citizens and the elite. From time to time the elite and the rich continue to face social-economic guerrilla from ordinary citizens and social-economic competition from their peers. The interest of villagers is not to erase hierarchical structures but rather to stem elite pressure, while at the same time maintaining hopes, ideals and striving to experience increased social mobility, becoming residents of the upper social layers in society. In more straight forward language, they do not move to erase the differences between rich and poor but aspire and work to become rich. These ideals are built on the ideology of human equality that humans have the same right to live regardless of poor or rich, elite or villagers.

Manggarai, a community in Flores, Eastern Indonesia is known for its rich culture of folk songs with unique rhythm and lyrics. There are various types of folk songs for different purposes such as traditional chants, harvest celebrations, lamentation of the dead, war anthems, children songs, and other profane functions. When European missionaries started Catholic vangelization in Manggarai in the beginning of the 20th century, many of these folk songs were prohibited due to their use in rituals deemed idolatry. However, some missionaries saw the potential of folk songs for evangelization and empowered local artists to arrange Catholic liturgical songs based on these traditional songs. Eventually, many folk songs were adapted and transformed into Catholic hymns. This paper explores this irony through socio-historical research to understand the relationship dynamics between the Catholic Church and the Manggaraianculture. This research has discovered that there is a dialectical encounter between Catholicism and the Manggaraian culture which has shaped a unique identity of the Catholic Church in Manggarai.

This research investigates the considerably high tourist visit in public space of Titik Nol Kilometer Yogyakarta as an urban tourism phonemenon using a multidimensional concept of sense of place which explains relationship between the tourist (people) and the public area (place). The analysis is focused on the place making components that creates sense of place. The sense of place concept is explored through qualitative analysis, with data collected from physical and behavioural mapping, and online interviews with tourists. Overlay and interactive analytical model is performed to identify the sense of place and its component. Sense of place in Titik Nol Kilometer is identified as emotional relationship between tourist and public space setting which becomes not only a place for recreational or creative events performed by the citizen or local people, but also an attractive destination for tourist that brings personal experience of the unique life of Yogyakarta city. Sense of place is created by the connectedness of various elements based on physical setting, activity, and meaning parameters which coherently combined and complement each other’s existence. The process involved the collaboration of planned place making and organic place making, which enable the coexistence of ‘old and new’, and ‘local and tourist’ contrast.
