Abstract

The digital space is currently overwhelmed by misinformation, echo chambers, and hoaxes that threaten the moral fabric of the Muslim community. This library research aims to reconstruct the concept of tabayyun as a modern verification instrument to counter information pathology on social media, as well as to examine its implications instrument for Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Utilizing a qualitative approach and content scientific journals and religious texts were critically analyzed. The findings indicate that tabayyun rooted in prophetic traditions goes beyond mere technical skills; it instills the value of al-anaat (prudence) and spiritual moral responsibility in cyber communication. Furthermore, this study reveals that modern digital logic often prioritizes speed and virality over content authenticity, thereby dulling the netizen’s critical thinking. This curation step is crucial top protect public cognition from the manipulation of negative content, including AI-generated information on timelines. This study concludes that there is an urgent need for Islamic educational institutions to reconstruct the digital literacy curriculum, integrating technical proficiency with prophetic moral ethical values to foster a reflective and non impulsive generation of netizens.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology in the 21st century has fundamentally altered the ways in which humans communicate and access knowledge. While digital connectivity offers numerous benefits, it simultaneously fosters the unchecked proliferation of hoaxes and misinformation. This study aims to conduct a critical analysis of the false information phenomenon through the lens of Islamic jurisprudence and ethics. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach through library research, examining primary sources such as the Quran and Hadith, as well as secondary sources comprising scholarly journals, books, and institutional reports. The findings reveal that Islam maintains a firm and unambiguous prohibition against lying and disseminating false information. The concept of Tabayyun (verification) constitutes a methodological obligation incumbent upon every Muslim prior to believing or sharing any information. Spreading hoaxes is legally categorized as haram (forbidden) and falls within the category of major sins, as it encompasses elements of slander (fitnah), mendacity (kidzib), and harm (mafsadah). Islam views truth as the cornerstone of all virtue, while falsehood is the root of all corruption. Accordingly, digital literacy and religious literacy represent two essential pillars that Muslims must cultivate to navigate the challenges of modernity without transgressing Islamic norms.

Abstract

Diversity is an inherent aspect of social life, particularly in a multicultural society like Indonesia, which comprises various ethnicities, races, cultures, and religions. Differences in belief should not lead to conflict but instead foster mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. Islam, as a religion of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a blessing for all creation), upholds tolerance as a fundamental social value. However, the Qur'an outlines certain limits to ensure tolerance does not compromise core principles of faith. This study aims to explore the concept and boundaries of religious tolerance from the perspectives of three prominent Nusantara exegetes: Shaikh Nawawi al-Bantani, Muhammad Hasbi al-Shiddieqy, and Buya Hamka, while identifying similarities and differences in their views. Using a library research method with a comparative descriptive analysis, the study examines their interpretations. The findings reveal that all three scholars share a consistent understanding of tolerance as an attitude of mutual respect, understanding, and acceptance of differences to achieve a peaceful and harmonious society. Nevertheless, they differ in defining its limits. Nawawi al-Bantani includes aspects of faith and politics, Hasbi emphasizes moral-based social interactions, and Hamka confines tolerance to social relations not related to faith.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) in education presents challenges for Islamic education within local cultural contexts, particularly regarding how data-driven technologies can be adopted without diminishing the moral values and local epistemic structures that support the social legitimacy of Islamic education. This conceptual paper examines this issue through the context of Madura, an Indonesian island society whose Islamic education system is closely connected to local wisdom through pesantren traditions, the epistemic authority of kyai, communal practices such as kompolan, and moral values expressed in bâburughân beccè'. Through a qualitative synthesis of recent studies on Madurese local wisdom and AI integration in Islamic education, this paper develops a conceptual framework that views AI and local wisdom as a negotiation space. Three key aspects require careful management: knowledge authority, character development and moderation, and access and equity. The paper argues that future-oriented Islamic education in Madura should implement a value-based AI adoption model with teachers acting as mediators, ensuring that technology strengthens rather than replaces the relational and communal dimensions of pesantren pedagogy.

Abstract

Good governance in Indonesia's public sector continues to face serious challenges in the form of corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN), despite the existence of comprehensive legal frameworks such as the General Principles of Good Governance (AUPB) and the Government Internal Control System (SPIP). This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic value-based spiritual accountability as an internal control mechanism that can strengthen the realization of good governance. Using a library research method through an integrative content analysis and conceptual synthesis approach, this study examines literature on good governance and AUPB in Indonesian administrative law, public sector accountability and internal control, as well as the concept of spiritual accountability from an Islamic perspective. The synthesis results indicate that spiritual accountability grounded in taqwa, amanah, muhasabah, and ihsan functions as an effective "soft control" that complements the formal internal control components (COSO/SPIP). These values strengthen the tone at the top, encourage honest reporting, and create a continuous monitoring mechanism based on divine awareness. This study proposes a conceptual framework called the Model of Internal Control Based on Islamic Spiritual Accountability (PIBSAI) or Islamic Spiritual Internal Control for Public Governance (ISIC-PG) Framework, which has theoretical implications for the development of public sector accounting and practical implications for strengthening AUPB and bureaucratic reform in Indonesia. Spiritual accountability does not replace the positive legal framework but serves as an internal reinforcer that enables the principles of good governance to be not only formally complied with but deeply internalized.

Abstract

Decision-makers in educational administration face increasingly complex challenges along with the need for accountability, honesty, and quality education services. Based on the book "Statistics of Management and Administration" by Dr. Cucu Supriyatna (2020), the purpose of this article is to examine the application of management statistics as a decision-making tool in educational administration. A literature review using a descriptive-analytical approach was used to collect data from 2020 to 2025. The results indicate that management statistics are crucial in four main aspects: (1) data-driven strategic planning of educational institutions; (2) descriptive analysis for organizing resources; (3) statistical control for monitoring quality; and (4) inferential-based performance evaluation. This study concludes that incorporating management statistics into the educational administration cycle can improve decision-making fairness, reduce personal bias, and enhance the accountability of educational institutions. This study concludes that the integration of management statistics into the educational administration cycle can improve the quality of decision-making, strengthen institutional accountability, reduce reliance on individual subjectivity, and create a more transparent and data-driven culture of educational management.

Abstract

Reputation is a strategic asset that determines the level of public trust in educational institutions. In the digital era, information spreads rapidly through mass media and social media, allowing emerging issues to develop into reputational crises if they are not managed appropriately. This article aims to analyze the role of issue management and public opinion in addressing reputational crises in educational institutions. The study employs a library research method by reviewing relevant scholarly journals and literature on public relations management, crisis communication, organizational reputation, and public opinion. The findings indicate that issue management serves as an early detection mechanism for identifying potential problems that may threaten the reputation of educational institutions. Meanwhile, public opinion management plays a crucial role in shaping public perceptions of an institution’s credibility. Communication strategies that are transparent, responsive, and based on two-way communication have proven effective in helping educational institutions manage and recover from reputational crises. Therefore, the integration of issue management and public opinion into the governance of educational institutions is essential for maintaining sustainable public trust.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of rationality in Mu’tazilah thought, explain its relevance to information-related issues in the digital era, and outline its application in fostering a critical mindset within society. The research employs a qualitative approach, specifically library research utilizing a descriptive-analytical method. Data were gathered from academic books, journal articles, and research findings discussing Mu’tazilah thought, the role of reason, al-uṣūl al-khamsah (the Five Principles), hoaxes, disinformation, digital literacy, tabayyun (verification/clarification), and critical thinking. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative content analysis, involving repeated reading, coding of key ideas, categorization, cross-source comparison, and the interpretation of conceptual relationships. The findings indicate that the Mu’tazilah school positions reason as a crucial instrument for comprehending truth, distinguishing between good and evil, and establishing accountability for human choices. These principles of rationality, freedom, and moral responsibility are relevant in addressing hoaxes, misinformation, disinformation, group fanaticism, social polarization, and the lack of a verification culture in the digital sphere. The values of Mu’tazilah rationality can be actualized through strengthening digital literacy, cultivating the habit of tabayyun, verifying sources, evaluating evidence, engaging in scholarly discussion, and fostering critical thinking education. The study concludes that Mu’tazilah rationality possesses not only historical-theological value but can also be contextualized as an epistemic and ethical foundation for a digital society that is objective, selective, open-minded, and responsible. The implication is that educational institutions can serve as a foundation for developing Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning based on information verification, argumentative dialogue, and digital communication ethics.
