Abstract

Background: The growth phase is an important period for a baby's life. One of the most important factors in the growth phase is nutritional needs. Nutrition is needed since the baby is in the womb until birth. Nutrition When the baby is born, it is obtained from giving exclusive breastfeeding to the growth of babies aged 7-12 months in the Balla Parang Health Center work area. Method: This study uses a quantitative research type with a retrospective research design. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The number of samples is 30 respondents. Results: The results of the study obtained a p value = 0.0004 (p <0.05) this identifies that there is a relationship between giving exclusive breastfeeding to the growth of babies aged 7-12 months in the Balla Parang Health Center work area, Makassar. Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding affects the growth of babies aged <6 months and mothers should avoid giving complementary foods/formula milk to meet the baby's nutrition so that growth can be achieved optimally

Abstract

Introduction: Pulmonary tuberculosis is an infectious disease that requires long-term treatment with high compliance. Compliance in taking medication is a key factor that affects the recovery of tuberculosis patients. In the Passo Health Center work area, it is important to understand the factors that influence this compliance in order to improve treatment outcomes. Method: This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional analytical survey design conducted in November 2023. The study population consisted of 40 pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing OAT treatment. The total sampling technique was used to collect samples, with a purposive sampling approach based on certain criteria. Results: The results showed that 75% of patients had good knowledge about their disease. As many as 87.5% of patients received good family support, and 75% of patients were always supervised in taking medication. However, only 62.5% of patients were compliant in taking medication as recommended. Factors such as lack of knowledge (25%), inadequate family support (12.5%), and lack of supervision in taking medication (25%) contribute to non-compliance, which in turn can lead to therapy failure and drug resistance. Conclusion: Compliance of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in treatment is greatly influenced by knowledge, family support, and supervision of taking medication. Interventions that focus on improving education, strengthening family support, and stricter supervision in treatment are needed to improve healing and prevent drug resistance.

Abstract

Background: Social media has become an important platform for disseminating health information, including immunization. However, misinformation is also easily spread, causing doubts about vaccination. This study aims to evaluate the role of social media in increasing public awareness of immunization, especially at the Bontobahari Health Center. Methods: This study used an analytical survey design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected in October 2024 from 25 mothers with toddlers in the Bontobahari Health Center area. Respondents were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the data were analyzed using statistical tests to determine the relationship between social media use and immunization awareness. Results: Of the 25 respondents, 56% used social media, with 60% supporting immunization. The results of the statistical test showed a ρ value = 0.000, indicating a significant relationship between social media use and increasing public awareness of immunization. Platforms such as Facebook are the main source of information for most mothers. Conclusion: Social media has been shown to contribute positively to increasing public awareness of immunization. Effective use of social media, through education and involvement of community leaders, can expand immunization coverage. This study recommends that health workers use social media to disseminate accurate and interesting information.

Abstract

Background: Labor pain is an unpleasant sensation that occurs during the birth process. Physiologically, labor pain begins to appear in the latent phase of the first stage of labor and the active phase of labor. In the active phase, the size of the opening ranges from 4 to 10 cm. Uterine contractions and cervical dilation cause pain. Handling labor pain with non-pharmacological techniques such as squeezing is very important. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of squeezing techniques on the level of labor pain in the first stage of labor in mothers giving birth at the Borong Complex Health Center. Method: This type of research is a quantitative experiment with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. This study involves 15 people. The purposive sampling method was used. The SPSS program was used to process univariate and bivariate data. Results: The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielded a p-value of 0.000, thus α = 0.05. There is a significant effect on the level of pain in first-stage laboring mothers before and after the kneading technique. The average pain level of laboring mothers during the first stage before the kneading technique was 3.21 with a standard deviation of 0.378. The average pain level of laboring mothers during the first stage after the kneading technique was 2.15 with a standard deviation of 0.516, and the p-value was 0.000. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the kneading technique and the level of labor pain during the first stage. It is hoped that the findings of this study can improve the quality of ideal intranatal midwifery services and serve as a new method to help pregnant women cope with labor pain.

Abstract

Background: A quality young generation is an important asset for the future of the nation. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life is the main step to support optimal growth and development. However, the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia still faces various obstacles, including social traditions, lack of education, and challenges in breast milk production. This study aims to explore the experiences of breastfeeding mothers in the Batua Health Center work area related to the practice of exclusive breastfeeding and the factors that influence it. Methods: This study used a qualitative phenomenological approach with in-depth interviews and participatory observations of 15 breastfeeding mothers, 2 husbands, 4 family members, and 1 village shaman. Data were analyzed using triangulation to ensure validity. Results: The findings show that the practice of exclusive breastfeeding is constrained by traditions such as giving honey, sugar water, or porridge from an early age. Other factors include insufficient breast milk production, family pressure, and lack of understanding of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. Most mothers also provide formula milk as an alternative. In addition, postpartum food taboos and local traditions affect the quality of breastfeeding. Conclusion: Intensive education from health workers and changes in social traditions are needed to increase exclusive breastfeeding rates. The government and health community should be more active in providing support, especially for mothers with challenges in breast milk production and social pressures, to support optimal infant health and development.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of breast cancer increases with age; however, being young does not guarantee immunity from breast cancer. The highest incidence rate for women is breast cancer, at 42.1 per 100,000 population, with an average mortality rate of 17 per 100,000. Breast cancer symptoms can be detected early if women of reproductive age perform breast self-examinations (BSE) correctly. Method: This study employs a quantitative research design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of 40 respondents, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The study results show a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of health education on students' knowledge about BSE at Yaspim Patompo University. Conclusion: Health education on BSE can be conducted continuously among female students to prevent the rising incidence of breast cancer and improve the quality of life for adult women. Activities that enhance knowledge about breast self-examinations are recommended so that women of reproductive age can practice them as an early detection measure for breast cancer in their daily lives.

Enough breast milk. Results: Chi-square test results (X) with a p-value of 0.000, which means p < α (0.05), which means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, there is a relationship between the use of contraception in breastfeeding mothers and the adequacy of breast milk production at the Arungkeke Community Health Center in 2023.
