Abstract

Rapid technological developments have penetrated various aspects of human life, including data and information security. Amidst the threat of data leaks and misuse, information protection has become crucial. One solution to maintain data confidentiality is to implement cryptography technology. Cryptography is the study of techniques to secure messages so they cannot be read by unauthorized parties. This process is carried out by encoding the original message (plain text) into an unreadable form (cipher text), which can only be understood by those who possess the key to decrypt it. This study used the Caesar Cipher algorithm, a form of classical cryptography. This algorithm uses a substitution method, where each letter in the message is shifted by a certain amount based on a predetermined key. Caesar Cipher is a symmetric algorithm, meaning the key used for encryption is also used for decryption. The security of this algorithm lies in the secrecy of the key, which is known only to the sender and recipient of the message. This method is relatively simple, but still relevant for securing data with low to medium sensitivity levels. This study used WhatsApp messages as the object to be encrypted using the Caesar Cipher algorithm. The results show that encrypted messages become unintelligible without prior decryption. This demonstrates that the Caesar Cipher can protect messages from unauthorized parties. Therefore, implementing this algorithm can be an initial solution for maintaining data confidentiality in digital communications, especially on platforms vulnerable to eavesdropping or unauthorized access. Its primary benefit is maintaining message integrity and confidentiality to prevent misuse.

Abstract

Motorcycle engine performance is highly dependent on the air intake system, which plays a crucial role in the combustion process. One common method for improving engine performance is modifying the intake system, either by installing additional devices or adjusting the quantity of incoming air. One innovation that is starting to be widely used is the Jet Ranger, an additional device on the intake duct that is claimed to be able to increase air flow into the combustion chamber. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Jet Ranger and variations in the quantity of incoming air on the maximum power of a 150 cc motorcycle engine, as well as to analyze the interaction between the two variables. The study was conducted using an experimental method with a two-way factorial approach. The independent variables in this study consisted of two factors, namely the use of Jet Ranger (without Jet Ranger and with Jet Ranger) and variations in the quantity of incoming air divided into four levels (0.008; 0.012; 0.016; and 0.020 kg/s). Maximum power testing was conducted using a Leads dynotest, while the mass of incoming air was calculated based on air velocity measured using a digital anemometer. The test data were statistically analyzed using a two-way ANOVA to identify the effect of each factor and the interaction between them on engine power. The results of the study indicate that the use of Jet Ranger significantly increases engine power. Variations in the quantity of intake air also significantly affect the power generated. In addition, the interaction between the use of Jet Ranger and the quantity of intake air is proven to have a significant impact on increasing the maximum engine power. These results are in line with the theory of intake systems which states that increasing optimal air flow can increase the volumetric efficiency of the engine, and are supported by findings from previous studies. Therefore, these findings can be used as a reference in the development of air intake systems on motorcycles to achieve more optimal engine performance.

Abstract

The development of electric motor vehicles drives the need for efficient, stable, and reliable energy storage systems. This study aims to compare the performance of three types of batteries commonly used in electric motorcycles, namely LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate), Li-Ion (Lithium Ion), and Lead Acid (Lead Battery). The parameters tested include energy efficiency, capacity, and performance during the starting process. The test method was carried out for 60 minutes through a charging and discharging process (charge-discharge), using a pzem-015 measuring instrument and a multimeter to monitor the current, voltage, input/output power, and battery capacity. The test results show that the LiFePO4 battery provides the best performance. This battery has the highest efficiency and capacity, reaching 1430 mAh, with a stable average efficiency in the range of 50–60%. In addition, LiFePO4 also produces the highest current and voltage when used for starting, making it very reliable for the initial needs of electric motorcycle operation. Meanwhile, the Li-Ion battery recorded a high initial efficiency of up to 87.27%, but this efficiency decreased and then stabilized at 72%, with a recorded capacity of 1360 mAh. Although its efficiency is quite good, its long-term stability is still below that of LiFePO4. Meanwhile, the Lead Acid battery showed the lowest performance. Its efficiency continued to decline to only 26.3% at the end of the test. Its capacity is 1380 mAh, but the increase is unstable, indicating inconsistencies in power storage and discharge. Based on these results, LiFePO4 batteries are recommended as the main choice for electric motorcycles because they excel in aspects of energy efficiency, performance stability, and long-term durability.

Abstract

Dependence on fossil fuels, such as gasoline and diesel, has become a global issue that affects environmental sustainability and energy security. Increasing greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing natural resource reserves, and instability of global energy prices encourage the need for innovation in motor vehicle fuel systems. This study aims to assess fuel efficiency and engine performance on a 110 CC motorcycle with a standard compression of 10.7:1, by utilizing a mixture of RON 90 gasoline and alcohol. The main focus of the study is to compare the effect of varying alcohol content on engine power output, with mixtures of E12.5, E17.5, and E22.5. The method used is an experimental method with three variables, namely the independent variable (type and content of fuel mixture), the dependent variable (engine power), and the control variables (engine condition, temperature, and testing method). Testing was carried out using a combination of iridium spark plugs and standard spark plugs, as well as variations in Pilot Jet sizes 34 and 35 on aftermarket carburetors. Each combination was tested to determine its effect on the maximum engine power. The results showed that a blend of E12.5 fuel with Pilot Jet 35 and iridium spark plugs produced the highest power output compared to other tested combinations. This combination was proven to optimize combustion in the combustion chamber, thereby improving engine efficiency and performance. Conversely, increasing the alcohol content above E12.5 did not provide a significant increase and even tended to decrease power due to alcohol's lower calorific value than gasoline. The conclusion of this study is that the use of an aftermarket carburetor with Pilot Jet 35 and iridium spark plugs, combined with an E12.5 fuel blend, can be an effective alternative for improving the performance of a 110cc motorcycle. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly blended fuel technology.

Abstract

Asynchronous motors, commonly known as induction motors, are widely utilized due to their robustness, reliability, and efficiency in both industrial and household applications. These motors typically operate by converting electrical energy into mechanical energy through the interaction between a rotating magnetic field and the rotor. Under normal operating conditions, the rotor speed is always slightly less than the speed of the magnetic field, which is known as "slip." However, when the slip becomes negative, meaning that the rotor speed exceeds the speed of the rotating magnetic field, the motor begins to function as a generator. This condition occurs when the motor is driven above its synchronous speed by an external mechanical force, causing the rotor to generate electrical power. Using an asynchronous motor as a generator offers several notable advantages. One of the key benefits is its ability to produce a pure sine wave voltage, which is crucial for various applications that require stable and high-quality electrical power. Since these motors do not use brushes, they are free from the problems associated with brush wear and maintenance. Moreover, they do not generate radio frequency interference (RFI), making them suitable for environments sensitive to electromagnetic disturbances. The use of an asynchronous motor as a generator also provides the ability to function as a rotary phase converter. This is especially beneficial in applications where three-phase power is unavailable, but the load requires it. To facilitate this process, a capacitive voltage is required to induce excitation in the rotor. The capacitive current is supplied by an additional capacitor, which is installed in parallel with the motor output. This capacitor helps maintain the necessary phase shift and enables the motor to generate the required three-phase power.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence students' learning motivation in the Lathe Engineering subject in class XI of the Department of Machining Engineering at SMK Negeri 1 Padang. Several variables studied include learning interest, ideals, friendship environment, and family environment, each of which acts as an independent variable, while learning motivation functions as a dependent variable. The method used in this study is quantitative with a correlational approach, where the research sample consisted of 51 students selected using a saturated sampling technique, namely sampling that covers the entire population in the class. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire with a Likert scale that has been tested for validity and reliability to ensure that the measuring instrument used is able to extract accurate and consistent data. The data obtained were then analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques with the help of SPSS version 26 to determine the effect of each variable on student learning motivation. The results of the study indicate that partially, learning interest and friendship environment have a significant influence on student learning motivation. Students who have a high interest in the Lathe Engineering subject tend to have better learning motivation, and positive relationships with their friends also increase their enthusiasm for learning. In contrast, the variables of ideals and family environment did not show a significant influence on students' learning motivation in the context of this study. Although ideals and family support are often considered important factors in education, the results of this study indicate that external factors such as friendships are more dominant in influencing students' learning motivation. Simultaneously, all four variables significantly influenced students' learning motivation, with the friendship environment being the most dominant factor.

Abstract

The manual credit application process often takes a long time and is prone to various problems, such as recording errors, data redundancy, and the risk of losing important documents. These conditions not only hamper service effectiveness but can also reduce customer satisfaction and the performance of the officers involved. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop a Progressive Web App (PWA)-based credit application system using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method. This system is expected to be a more efficient, faster, and more accurate solution than the current manual mechanism. PWA was selected based on its ability to provide universal access through a browser without the need for additional application installation, making it more practical for both customers and officers. Meanwhile, the RAD approach allows for an iterative and flexible system development process, with direct user involvement from the design stage through implementation. This aims to ensure the system is truly aligned with real-world needs. The development results indicate that the designed PWA system is capable of supporting the tasks of Account Officers (AO) and Division Heads in managing credit application data. The process includes the pipeline stage, submission, field survey, and credit realization, which is well-documented and accessible in real time. Functional testing using the Black Box Testing method proved that all features functioned according to established specifications. Furthermore, usability testing using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method yielded satisfactory scores, indicating the system's high usability and positive user experience. Therefore, this PWA-based credit application system not only improves process effectiveness and efficiency but also supports transparency, data accuracy, and user satisfaction.

Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a strategic role in improving organizational competitiveness through proper management of employee placement, training, and performance evaluation. To support the achievement of these goals, a predictive model is needed that can provide an accurate picture of employee performance. This study utilizes a Human Resource Management (HRM) dataset of 1,200 data and applies several classification algorithms to compare their effectiveness, namely J48 or C4.5, Random Forest, Naive Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Logistic Regression, and Support Vector Machine (SVM). To obtain more optimal results, this study uses resampling techniques and attribute selection methods with a correlation attribute eval approach, so that class distribution can be more balanced and model accuracy increases. From the test results, the Decision Tree J48 algorithm showed the best performance with an accuracy level reaching 95.41%, a kappa value of 0.8925, a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.0432, a precision of 0.955, a recall of 0.954, and an area under the ROC curve of 0.964. These findings indicate that J48 has excellent predictive capabilities compared to other algorithms. Furthermore, this study also found that the most influential variables in determining employee performance include the percentage of the last salary increase (EmpLast Salary Hike Percent), the level of work environment satisfaction (Emp Environment Satisfaction), the length of time since the last promotion (Years Since Last Promotion), and experience in the current role (Experience Years in Current Role). Overall, the results of the study indicate that the C4.5 algorithm with the application of the resampling technique can be an optimal solution in building an employee performance prediction system. Thus, this model has the potential to be a strong basis for managerial decision-making, particularly in designing HR development strategies and policies to improve organizational performance.

Abstract

The maintenance of non-aviation defense equipment (main weapon system) is a critical aspect in maintaining operational readiness. However, the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) system in Indonesia still faces limitations due to manual reporting, inefficiency in spare parts management, and the lack of integration of the Life Cycle Cost (LCC) approach. This study aims to design and develop the Integrated Cavalry Monitoring and Maintenance System (ICMMS) based on a web application that integrates sensors, real-time data analytics, and LCC calculation. The prototyping method was used, involving design, development, integration, and testing phases on the Maung Tactical Vehicle and Anoa Armoured Personnel Carrier at PT Pindad. The results of the prototype implementation showed a significant increase in maintenance efficiency: damage reporting time decreased from ±3 hours to ±1 minute, critical component identification became 95% faster, and maintenance scheduling shifted from reactive to predictive. Additionally, the integration of the LCC algorithm allows for more accurate maintenance cost estimation, supporting technical and strategic decision-making. This study demonstrates that ICMMS based on LCC can be an innovative digital solution to enhance MRO effectiveness and operational readiness of non-aviation defense vehicles in Indonesia. It is expected that this system will improve the resilience and cost-effectiveness of managing Indonesia’s military vehicle fleet.
