Abstract

This paper aims to examine the Thinker Fazlur Rahman Malik, a contemporary Islamic intellectual figure, with a focus on his educational background, intellectual experience, as well as his contribution to the modernization of Islamic thought. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive analysis of the relevant text sources, by tracing how the context of traditional and modern education forms its perspective. In addition, this study also examines the double movement theory developed by Fazlur Rahman as an interpretative methodology to understand the Qur'an contextually. The findings show that Fazlur Rahman is a contemporary thinker who successfully presents a neo-modernism approach that integrates the traditions of classical Islamic thought and modern critical methods, thus becoming a relevant reference in contemporary Islamic studies today.

Abstract

Yāsin is the 36th chapter of the Qur’an, comprising 83 verses; it was revealed after Sūrat al-Jinn and is classified as a Makkan surah. Fadīlah denotes merit or virtue, typically associated with devotional acts. This study aims to describe the practice of reciting Yāsin Fadīlah, a rendition the researcher translated from Arabic into Indonesian. The research employs a descriptive qualitative methodology with a sociological approach, treating the phenomenon as an expression of social relations among individuals and groups. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the Yāsin Fadīlah ritual differs from ordinary Yāsin recitation in that it is interspersed with dhikr, salawāt, and various supplications. The text of Yāsin Fadīlah used in the practice is attributed to Muḥammad alFaqīh al-Muqaddam. The ritual typically begins with a tawassul, followed by the recitation of Yāsin Fadīlah, and concludes with a communal meal. Reported benefits associated with the practice include receiving Allah’s forgiveness, experiencing daily wellbeing, and the fulfillment of personal prayers, among others.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic relevance of Islamic Wasathiyah (Moderation) Character Education and to identify the substantive challenges of its implementation in confronting information disruption within the Society 5.0 Era. The Society 5.0 concept, which demands a human-centered society, necessitates a strong ethical and moral foundation. This study employs a qualitative methodologi  utilizing a Systematic Literature Review  , collecting and synthesizing data from recent scholarly journals. The findings reveal that the relevance of Wasathiyah is highly functional, where its main pillars act as digital ethical regulators. The principle of Tawazun (balance) ensures that the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is directed toward the common good, not dehumanization. Meanwhile, I'tidal (justice) and Tasamuh (tolerance) serve as the foundation for critical literacy and Tabayyun (verification) to counteract extremist narratives and digital disinformation. However, the implementation of Wasathiyah faces dual challenges: 1) Ideological Challenges in the form of narrative competition with extremism in the cyberspace; and 2) Methodological-Technical Challenges caused by the digital competence gap among educators and the digital divide which exacerbates inequality in character education access. The study concludes by emphasizing the urgency of curriculum transformation and enhancing educator competence to ensure Wasathiyah moves beyond a theoretical value to become an effective digital soft skill in guiding the Society 5.0 generation.

Abstract

Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) digital financial services have become a global phenomenon, offering ease of transaction by deferring payment. In the context of Islamic economics, this practice has sparked legal (fiqh) debate regarding its compatibility with Islamic principles, particularly the prohibition of riba (usury), gharar (uncertainty), and maysir (gambling). This article aims to analyze conventional BNPL schemes from an Islamic Sharia perspective, identify elements that potentially violate Islamic law, and offer alternative models based on Sharia contracts, such as Murabahah or Bai' Muajjal (deferred sale). The results of the study show that conventional BNPL that charges interest, percentage fees, or late fees that are ribawi in nature are generally contrary to Sharia. The implementation of Sharia-compliant BNPL must be based on a transparent sale and purchase contract, free from usury, and upholding the value of justice ('adl) and avoiding excessive consumption (israf).

Abstract

This study examines various methods and approaches to learning outcome assessment applied to measure the achievement of learning objectives. The learning outcome evaluation process plays a critical role in detecting the level of competency mastery achieved by students. Various assessment formats, such as written tests (both objective and descriptive), oral exams, attitude observations, student work collections (portfolios), project assignments, and presentations, are used comprehensively to assess students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Methodologically, evaluation techniques can be classified into two main approaches: quantitative and qualitative, each with its own advantages and limitations. The development of innovative assessment systems, including the use of technology through online exams and digital portfolios, has significantly increased the efficiency and accuracy of the evaluation process. This study aims to map the variety of evaluation forms and techniques while emphasizing the urgency of selecting contextual methods that consider learning objectives and the unique characteristics of each student.

Abstract

The increasing wealth inequality, structural poverty, and environmental degradation indicate the need for an economic paradigm that emphasizes not only growth but also justice and sustainability. Islamic economics offers an alternative framework through the concept of Maqāṣid Sharī'ah, which serves as the normative foundation for all economic activities. This study aims to analyze the integration of Maqāṣid Sharī'ah into the Islamic economic cycle, encompassing production, distribution, and consumption, in order to achieve Falāḥ (holistic well-being). This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. Data were collected from classical and contemporary literature on Maqāṣid Sharī'ah, Islamic economics, and relevant scholarly publications. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis to identify the relationship between the objectives of Islamic law and economic activities. The findings reveal that Maqāṣid Sharī'ah functions as an ethical framework that guides production toward maslahah and sustainability, distribution toward economic justice through ZISWAF instruments, and consumption toward balanced and responsible behavior. The integration of these three pillars plays a crucial role in ensuring the fulfillment of essential human needs (ḍarūriyyāt) and in achieving Falāḥ as the ultimate objective of Islamic economics. This study highlights that the comprehensive implementation of Maqāṣid Sharī'ah can contribute to the development of a more just, inclusive, and sustainable economic system.

Abstract

Religious activities play an important role in shaping the social and moral character of Muslim adolescents. Amid the rapid development of digital technology and the growing tendency toward individualism, religious activities serve as an effective medium for fostering social solidarity and social awareness. This study aims to analyze the influence of religious activities on the development of social solidarity and social concern among Muslim adolescents and to examine their relevance in contemporary social life. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a library research method. Data were collected from books, scholarly journals, and previous studies relevant to the topic. The findings indicate that active participation in religious activities, such as congregational prayers, Islamic study circles, mosque youth organizations, and community-based religious programs, contributes significantly to strengthening ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), enhancing empathy, and fostering social responsibility among adolescents. Furthermore, religious activities help reduce individualistic behavior and promote social cohesion in the face of challenges posed by the digital era. Therefore, religious activities function not only as a means of spiritual development but also as an effective instrument for cultivating social solidarity and social awareness among Muslim adolescents.

Abstract

The integration of Islamic values into Indonesian educational, political, and judicial institutions is a strategic effort to build a civilized and just social order. Islam, as areligion of rahmatan lil 'alamin (blessing for the universe), provides universal principles not only for the vertical relationship between humans and God but alsofor social and institutional interactions. In the realm of education, Islamic values contribute to the formation of character, morality, and spiritual competence. Inpolitics, the principles of justice, trustworthiness, and deliberation serve as the moral foundation for governance. Meanwhile, in the judiciary, honesty, accountability, andequality before the law are essential for realizing substantive justice. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach through library research to analyze the relevance of Islamic values in these three institutional domains. The findings indicate that the successful integration of Islamic values depends on the alignment between state regulations and a substantive understanding of Islamic teachings, which emphasize humanity, inclusivity, and contextual adaptation to Indonesia's socio-cultural realities

Abstract

The Economic inequality in Indonesia is caused by the unequal distribution of income and wealth, as measured by the Gini Index. In 2024, it was 0.37 and in 2025, it was 0.38, indicating that inequality is on the rise, with a wide gap between the rich and the poor. Indonesia is a Muslim country where zakat distribution plays a crucial role in economic equality. The implementation of professionally managed zakat in Indonesia has shown positive results in reducing poverty and narrowing income inequality (Gini Index), primarily through productive zakat programs. This success depends heavily on optimizing the national zakat potential and strengthening synergies between amil institutions, the government, and the community.
