Abstract

The increase in mortality rates, caused by traffic accidents, usually occurs partly because Indonesians do not know how to provide proper first aid when victims are found (Ferianto, 2023). Injuries to the musculoskeletal system must be treated quickly and appropriately, because if it is too late, it will cause the condition of the injury to worsen and cause bleeding. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of education on emergency assistance for upper extremity injuries with splinting techniques on adolescent knowledge. This research method uses a quantitative design using pretest and posttest questionnaires. The administration of pre-test and post-test questionnaires is according to the number of participants who participated in the education. The number of samples obtained in this study was 40 people with the target of MA adolescents with an age range of 15-17 years. This study was conducted on July 25, 2025, at MA Al-Ittihadiyah Pangkalan Masyhur Medan. The results of this study showed a significant difference between the level of knowledge before (pre-test) and after (post-test). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of emergency aid education for upper extremity injuries using splinting techniques on the knowledge of adolescents at MA Al-Ittihadiyah Pangkalan Masyhur Medan.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the digital literacy of students at SMK Negeri 1 Pancur Batu through basic cybersecurity training. The background of this program stems from the students' low awareness of cyber risks such as phishing, data misuse, and weak digital account management. The method used was a participatory educational approach through training sessions, simulations, and group discussions. The results showed a 42% increase in students’ cybersecurity knowledge based on pre-test and post-test evaluations. Furthermore, behavioral changes were observed, including increased awareness of using strong passwords and the formation of a student cybersecurity group as change agents within the school environment. This activity demonstrates that participatory cybersecurity training can significantly enhance students’ awareness and digital skills.

Abstract

Nausea and vomiting are common complaints experienced by pregnant women in the first trimester. If left unmanaged, these symptoms may develop into hyperemesis gravidarum, which poses risks to both mother and fetus. One non-pharmacological alternative is the use of ginger (Zingiber officinale) as a complementary therapy. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding the benefits of ginger decoction in reducing nausea and vomiting. The method included health education, hands-on practice in preparing ginger decoction, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. The activity was conducted at Pratama Madina Clinic, involving 45 first-trimester pregnant women. Results indicated a significant increase in knowledge, with pre-test scores averaging 4.53 and post-test scores rising to 8.33. The activity also led to positive behavioral changes and increased awareness of the safe use of herbal therapies during pregnancy. Ginger education proved to be an effective initiative for fostering social transformation within the pregnant women's community.

Abstract

Breast cancer and cervical cancer are two leading causes of death among Indonesian women, yet they are preventable through early detection. Tanjung Anom Village in Pancur Batu Subdistrict is a rural area with low health literacy, particularly regarding cancer screening. This community service aimed to improve women's knowledge and awareness through SADARI (Breast Self-Examination) training and IVA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) examination. A community-based participatory approach was applied, involving health cadres, village leaders, and women of reproductive age as key participants. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge scores, from an average of 52.4 to 76.2 after the intervention. A total of 48 women voluntarily underwent the IVA test, and a Women's Health Working Group was established to sustain ongoing education. The emergence of local leaders and collective awareness reflects a successful health-based social transformation. This program has proven effective and can be replicated in other rural settings.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women in Indonesia, yet it is preventable through early detection such as VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid). Low health literacy and limited access to education remain key challenges in rural areas, including Tanjung Anom Village. This community service aimed to increase knowledge and participation of women of reproductive age in VIA screening through a clinic-based educational approach at Romana Clinic. A participatory method was applied by involving local communities, health cadres, and medical personnel. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge scores from an average of 54.6 to 78.9 after the training. A total of 39 women underwent VIA screening, and a women’s education group was established to ensure program sustainability. This activity also led to the emergence of local leadership and collective awareness as early signs of social transformation. The clinic-based education model has proven to be effective and suitable for replication in other rural settings.

Abstract

The coverage of complete basic immunization remains a serious public health concern, particularly in rural areas such as Suka Raya Village, Pancur Batu Subdistrict, where only 26.2% of infants have received full basic immunizations. Low maternal knowledge and negative attitudes are among the primary barriers contributing to this issue. This community service activity was designed to increase the knowledge and attitudes of mothers regarding the importance of complete basic immunization through structured health education. The activity involved 42 mothers with infants aged 9–12 months and was conducted in July 2025 at the Suka Raya Village Hall. The method consisted of interactive lectures, distribution of educational leaflets, and direct discussions facilitated by health educators. Pre- and post-intervention questionnaires were used to assess changes in knowledge and attitudes. The results showed a significant improvement: mothers with good knowledge increased from 47.6% to 85.7%, and those with positive attitudes increased from 42.9% to 83.3%. The findings support that community-based health education interventions can effectively enhance maternal understanding and behavioral intentions toward completing their children's immunization schedules. It is recommended that similar educational activities be regularly implemented and supported by local health institutions and cadres. This initiative demonstrates the importance of empowering mothers at the grassroots level to improve child health outcomes.

Abstract

Mental health among coastal communities remains a critical issue often overlooked by formal interventions. This community service activity aimed to enhance the psychological well-being of residents in Astapada Village, Gunungjati Subdistrict, Cirebon, using a positive psychology approach integrated with local cultural wisdom. The method used was a participatory community-based approach involving training in gratitude journaling, character strengths, and meaning therapy, combined with traditional arts practices such as mask dancing and batik making. Evaluation using the WHO-5 Wellbeing Index showed a significant increase in participants' psychological well-being scores, from an average of 43.77 to 66.40. Additionally, social initiatives emerged, including the formation of the “Rembug Jiwa” community and the rise of local leaders promoting program sustainability. These findings indicate that culturally contextualized positive psychology interventions can serve as effective strategies for improving mental health at the community level.
