Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the erosion of cultural identity of Igbo society as a result of British colonization. It also looks at the colonial hegemony enforced by institutions of the church, judiciary, medical system, and education in Igbo society. The peaceful Igbo village descends into chaos as the protagonist's son disobeys his father and mocks the idea of brotherhood by converting himself into Christianity. The impact of colonialism and the supremacy of European culture destroys the social harmony of Igbo society. As a result, despite the struggle and sacrifice of true lover of original culture, the rich cultural legacy continues to collapse. A post-colonial social narrative raises questions to the aboriginal Igbo culture that was originally shaped by a variety of cultural ethos. The community experiences a significant transformation while the true followers original culture struggle with the shifting dynamics of relationships. The traditional lifestyle of the Igbo people is disrupted and challenged by European civilization. As they resist the changes imposed by the colonizers, the indigenous people's identity changes.

Abstract

This article explores empirical insights into the role of women in Lombok society. The increasing responsibility of meeting family needs is examined through various analyses, notably sociological analysis. In many cases, Lombok women balance dual roles: as homemakers and as contributors to the family's everyday needs. This research employs a qualitative descriptive methodology with a phenomenological approach to comprehend the nuanced experiences and meanings attached to specific situations. Participants’ insights provide invaluable perspectives, facilitating a deeper exploration of the subjects under study. Data analysis utilizes sociological frameworks to elucidate the evolving social status of women in Lombok societies. The findings illustrate a dynamic socio-economic transformation among Lombok women, reflecting the growing significance of their contributions to family welfare. This transformation is driven by heightened daily living expenses, prompting a shift from traditional homemaker roles to becoming pivotal economic pillars within their families. Moreover, instances where wives possess higher educational attainment than their husbands underscore significant shifts in life dynamics and socio-economic structures.

Abstract

In this article, we investigate how the distribution of community participation impacts biodiversity conservation in national parks. This study analyzes factors that influence the distribution of community participation in biodiversity conservation. We hypothesize that employment in tourism increases the likelihood of community participation in biodiversity conservation. Additionally, we hypothesize that financial benefits derived by local people uniquely influence their likelihood of engaging in conservation activities. Furthermore, we hypothesize that infrastructure development affects household likelihood to engage in biodiversity conservation. Data were collected from households using questionnaires. Using logistic regression analysis, we find support for our hypotheses. The results suggest that local community participation in biodiversity conservation is significant. This study contributes to the growing empirical evidence on the effects of local community participation on biodiversity conservation in national parks and its implications for park managers and policymakers. Our study makes significant contributions to the existing literature and has practical implications for park management and policy formulation.
