This study investigates the perceived effects of the 2023 general elections on the orientation of undergraduate students in Imo State, Nigeria. Given the fundamental role of credible, free, and fair elections in a democracy, this research aims to gauge the opinions of young Nigerians, particularly those in higher education institutions, who are presumed to be more enlightened and actively involved in their Student Union Governments. Adopting a public opinion survey design, the study utilized a stratified sampling technique to distribute questionnaires among the respondents. The collected data, representing public opinion polls, were analyzed to discern prevailing sentiments. Results indicate a significant disillusionment among undergraduates, with many expressing a loss of confidence and interest in Nigeria's electoral system. The study reveals that the majority of students believe that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has failed the citizens, particularly in light of the high expectations set by the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), which promised transparency but ultimately did not fulfill its potential. This disillusionment has led to a widespread desire among young Nigerians to emigrate in search of better governance. The study recommends that electoral bodies prioritize restoring the integrity of democratic institutions by ensuring the conduct of credible elections in Nigeria.

Schistosoma haematobium infection is known to be endemic especially among residents along Rivers, This study was conducted to establish the preval_ence of urinary schistosomiasis in relation to some epidemiological factors among elementary pupils in Donga Local Government Area. Urine filtration technique using polycarbonate membrane filters was employed to check the presence of Schistosoma haematobium eggs in urine and questionnaires were administered. Overall preval_ence of 8.94% (21) was recorded out of the 235 urine examined. Chi square analysis showed insignificant association of the infection with the various schools (χ²= 6.192, P = 0.185). Similarly, ANOVA revealed no significant difference in the mean egg intensity (27.29 eggs/10ml of urine) among the schools (p = 0.293). Males were more infected 13.33%(16) than females 4.50%(5) with a significant difference (P=0.020). However, there was no statistical significant difference in their mean egg intensities (30.3 eggs/10ml of urine in male and 17.6 eggs/10ml of urine in female) (p = 0.27). The age-related preval_ence was higher 11.82% (13) in 10-15 years children while children aged 16-20 had the least preval_ence 0.01% (1). Chi square showed statistical significant association between infection and age (χ²=12.964, P=0.002). But there was a statistical insignificant difference between their mean egg intensities; 10-15, 4-9 and 16-20 (31.08, 23.4, 5 eggs/10ml of urine respectively) with p=0.462. Children who fish had the highest preval_ence 16.67% and children that do not partake in any of these activities had no case of infection 0%(64). Chi square revealed a statistical significant association between participant's water contact activities and infection (χ² =11.21; p = 0.024). However, ANOVA showed statistical insignificant difference in the mean egg intensity among these activities (p = 0.486). This findings indicates that urinary schistosomiasis has low endemicity in this area which could be due to the fact that It was concluded that the overall low preval_ence could be attributed to improved environmental hygiene among others.

Inflation and economic growth are two macroeconomic phenomena that are interrelated and have significant implications for the stability and economic welfare of a country. Inflation, which is measured as the general increase in the price of goods and services over time, can affect various aspects of the economy, including people's purchasing power, investment levels, and consumption decisions. This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data regression method to analyze the influence of inflation on economic growth in Indonesia using the Eviews 12 application. The results of this study indicate that the influence of inflation on economic growth is not strong enough to be considered statistically significant in the period analyzed. Although there was a small positive effect of inflation on economic growth, these results showed that inflation was not the main factor affecting economic growth in Indonesia during the period. Therefore, policymakers must consider other factors that may have a more significant influence in formulating effective economic strategies.

Agricultural subsidies have become a common instrument used by countries in the Southeast Asian Region to support farmers, increase food production, and control prices. However, the effectiveness and long-term impact of these subsidies are still a hot debate in the economic literature. The purpose of this study is to analyze how agricultural subsidies affect rice productivity and rice prices in three Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, during the period 2020-2023. The method used in this study is panel data analysis with a fixed effect to control the variation between countries that is not observed. Panel regression analysis was carried out to identify the relationship between agricultural subsidies and the two dependent variables. The F-test and Chi-square test are used to test for the existence of fixed effects, while the cross-section dependency test is used to check the residual correlation between countries. The results of this study show that the regression results of the panel show that agricultural subsidies have a significant negative impact on rice productivity (Y1), which may reflect inefficient resource allocation or the presence of market distortions that hinder productivity increase. In contrast, subsidies have a significant positive impact on rice prices (Y2), suggesting that subsidies can help maintain price stability and provide economic benefits for farmers. From the overall analysis, agricultural subsidies in Southeast Asia have a complex and diverse impact on rice productivity and prices. While subsidies help maintain price stability and support farmers' welfare, their impact on rice productivity still needs to be further eval_uated to ensure more efficient and sustainable allocations. Governments in the region need to continue to review and adjust their subsidy policies in order to strike a balance between supporting smallholders, increasing productivity, and maintaining rice price stability, while minimizing negative impacts on markets and the environment.

This comprehensive literature review explores the tools and techniques of SMA, bridging the gap between financial accounting and strategic decision-making. The study identifies and categorizes a wide range of SMA tools, including activity-based costing, balanced scorecard, value chain analysis, benchmarking, customer accounting and competitor accounting. The review highlights the significance of SMA in aligning financial and non-financial information with strategic objectives, facilitating informed decision-making, and improving organizational competitiveness and financial performance. Key findings emphasize the practical applications of SMA tools across various industries and sectors, as well as the challenges and ambiguities surrounding their impact assessment. The study also identifies gaps in the existing literature, particularly the need for more comprehensive insights into the contextual factors influencing the effectiveness of SMA tools. This review provides valuable insights for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers, offering a foundation for future research and practical guidance on leveraging SMA tools in today's dynamic business landscape.

Electoral violence is a critical challenge to democratic processes in Nigeria, undermining the credibility and integrity of elections. This paper explores the underlying causes of electoral violence and proposes strategies for its prevention to achieve credible elections. Drawing on Social Identity Theory (SIT), the study highlights how group dynamics and social identities shape behaviour and contribute to conflict during elections. Factors such as political exclusion, economic disparities, and historical grievances are identified as primary drivers of violence. The paper argues for a multifaceted approach to prevention, including fostering inclusive political representation, promoting intergroup dialogue, challenging harmful social norms, and supporting electoral education. Additionally, the role of responsible media, institutional legitimacy, and nonviolent conflict resolution are emphasized. By addressing the root causes and implementing these strategies, Nigeria can enhance the credibility of its elections and ensure a stable and democratic political environment. The study underscores the importance of understanding social dynamics and adopting comprehensive measures to mitigate electoral violence effectively.

Alongside the economic growth in various coastal regions, including Kien Giang, the area faces non-traditional security issues, most notably marine environmental pollution due to the impacts of climate change. This study surveyed 130 households in several coastal regions of Kien Giang. It employed a multivariate regression model to assess the implications and quantify climate change's effects on economic activities. The findings indicate that most factors harm the financial activities of households living in these coastal regions of Kien Giang. This paper underscores the significance of addressing the adverse impacts of climate change on local economies. It highlights the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to mitigate these effects, ensuring the sustainable development of coastal communities in Kien Giang.
