Abstract

and minimizing the impact of storms and waves that occur every year. This effort is carried out in a soft structure through mangrove planting. Apart from that, this activity also aims to strengthen the capacity of the Tahoa Village community regarding the importance of the mangrove ecosystem in protecting the coastal environment from storms and waves. The mangrove seeds selected were of the Rhizophora mucronata type. The choice of this type is based on the nature of this type of mangrove which is quite tolerant and adaptive to changes in environmental conditions. Apart from that, the selected mangrove seeds also have criteria that are ready for planting, including having a number of leaves ?4, being fertile, not diseased and not deformed/broken. The mangrove planting activity involved the Tahoa Village community and the Tahoa Village Mangrove Activist Group. Apart from that, this mangrove planting activity also involved the entire USN Kolaka Academic Community. The evaluation activity on the results of mangrove planting was carried out 2 months after the planting activity by taking into account several factors, including seedlings that might have broken roots during the transportation process from Kendari to Kolaka, as well as uncontrolled sea wave conditions. For this reason, mangrove replanting was carried out on several dead mangrove seedlings.

Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, boasts extensive and diverse coastal resources. Sustainable management of coastal areas is crucial to ensure long-term benefits for communities. One recently opened tourist destination is Karang Empat Beach, located in Ranokomea Village, West Poleang District, Bombana Regency. Despite its high tourism potential, the beach faces serious issues related to waste accumulation, particularly plastic waste, caused by a lack of visitor awareness and inadequate disposal facilities. To address this problem, a dedicated team conducted a series of activities, including the provision of trash bins, beach clean-up efforts, and the installation of informational boards to raise public awareness. The positive response from local authorities further supported these efforts. The results of these activities demonstrated a reduction in waste on the beach and an increase in public awareness about proper waste disposal. This study highlights the importance of collaboration between communities and management in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring the sustainability of tourist areas.

Abstract

The implementation of the 2013 Curriculum (K-13) in elementary schools (SD) has brought significant changes to teachers' administrative activities, especially in filling out student report cards, which are now more complex compared to the previous curriculum. To facilitate the process of entering report card grades, teachers were provided with a report card application based on Microsoft Excel. However, at SDN 105 Kendari, most teachers encountered difficulties using the application due to limited technological knowledge, resulting in the report card process often being assisted by the school operator. To address this issue, the Faculty of Information Technology at Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka organized training on the use of the K-13 report card application based on Microsoft Excel for the teachers at SDN 105 Kendari. The training was conducted in person, actively involving participants in each stage. The training covered an introduction to basic Microsoft Excel formulas and detailed use of the K-13 report card application. The results showed that the program ran smoothly and received positive feedback from the participants. It is hoped that the teachers will become more independent and efficient in filling out student report cards.

Abstract

Technological developments can no longer be avoided, including in the field of school education. One of the subjects that can be integrated with the use of technology is English. However, in reality, not all teachers are able to implement technology-based English learning. Limited teacher references on learning technology and inadequate facilities are the main problems faced. Through Community Service (PkM) activities, the service team introduced the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English learning at a school in Palu City, Central Sulawesi. The method used in this community was the literature review method, where the service team reviewed related references, applied them to students, then draw conclusion from the community service activity that had been carried out. Relying on the great benefits and ease of implementation, the use of AI can be a leading technology for teachers to promote modern language learning. The result of the community service indicated that the integration of AI in English learning showed positive results for students, such as increasing their enthusiasm and motivation for learning English.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This community service activity aims to increase teachers' understanding of environmental conditions that have the potential to become breeding habitats for the Aedes aigypti mosquito in the school environment and improve teachers' abilities and skills in designing and installing ovitrap and larvitrap equipment appropriately which can be taught to their students. Community service activities in the form of training in making Ovitrap and larvitrap to break the life cycle of the Aedes mosquito for elementary school teachers in Poasia District, Kendari City were carried out on October 19, 2024 involving five lecturers and six students from FMIPA UHO. The activity continued with installation assistance in each school environment. The evaluation results show that the training has improved the ability to recognize various factors that cause cases of dengue fever and skills in making ovitraps and larvitraps as appropriate means of reducing the population of dengue vector mosquitoes. Key words: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), Aedes aegypti, Larvi trap
