Abstract

Mandarin Chinese is considered one of the most influential languages in the world due to its significant role across various do-mains, including education, business, and culture. However, learners, particularly university students, often face challenges in mastering pronunciation, tones, and the complex Hanzi characters. Direct interaction with native-speaking instructors has proven to be an effective method for enhancing students' speaking abilities. This study aims to examine the impact of student interactions with native Mandarin-speaking lecturers on their speaking proficiency. Employing a quantitative approach, the study utilized Pearson correlation analysis and simple linear regression. The findings revealed a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.943 and a significance level of <0.05 in the regression analysis, indicating a strong, positive, and significant relationship between the two variables. The more frequent and intensive the interaction, the greater the improvement observed in students' vocabulary mastery, pronunciation accuracy, intonation, and confidence. Furthermore, native-speaking instructors offer authentic learning experiences and broader cultural insights. Therefore, the involvement of native Mandarin-speaking lecturers is crucial in enhancing students’ Mandarin speaking skills.

Abstract

The research on the novel 'Benang Merah' by Unu Ruben Paineon tells the story of the life journey of the character Kolo during his childhood, who always remembers the shadow of his father's death until he grows up. Therefore, this study utilizes literary psychology theory, specifically Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis, to examine Kolo's personality structure and defense mechanisms. The aim of the research is to describe the personality structure and defense mechanisms of the character Kolo. The research method used is qualitative descriptive method because this study is more inclined towards description based on the research object presented through words or sentences in the novel 'Benang Merah' according to the problem formulation. The analysis of the personality structure of the main character revealed the presence of id, ego, and superego, with each structure consisting of 3 data points discovered. The defense mechanisms show the existence of repression, sublimation, projection, displacement, rationalization, reaction formation, regression, aggression, and fantasy, with each mechanism consisting of 1 data point.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the application of Team Games Tournament (TGT) method with Kahoot application to train the mastery of German vocabulary of 11th grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Malang and to describe students' responses to the application of the method. The research used descriptive qualitative approach with observation instrument, Kahoot quiz, and student questionnaire. The results showed that TGT method based on Kahoot application made students participate and motivated in learning German vocabulary. Students are more active, enthusiastic, and helped in remembering vocabulary. The findings of this study are time constraints and differences in understanding sentence structure during learning with TGT and Kahoot.This TGT method with Kahoot application is proven to be applicable in learning German language interactively.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi efektivitas Pop-Up Book sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran Märchen di Self Access Center (SAC) Sastra Jerman bagi mahasiswa S1 Pendidikan Bahasa Jerman. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran Märchen yang cenderung bersifat konvensional, kurang interaktif, serta sulit memvisualisasikan cerita, sehingga menurunkan minat dan pemahaman mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 20 mahasiswa yang telah menempuh mata kuliah Deutsch Literatur dan Literaturgeschichte. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket pra-penelitian dan wawancara pasca-penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pop-Up Book terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan interaktivitas, memfasilitasi visualisasi, mengurangi kebosanan, serta membantu pemahaman budaya dan kosakata bahasa Jerman, meskipun terdapat kekhawatiran terkait daya tahan media dan relevansinya di era digital. Sebagai simpulan, Pop-Up Book direkomendasikan sebagai media pembelajaran kreatif, dengan saran untuk memperkaya konten visual-interaktif, menyesuaikan tingkat kesulitan, menambahkan fitur audio atau kuis, serta meningkatkan ketahanan media.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of academic pressure on college students’ emotional well-being and academic performance, with particular attention to the role of negative emotions. Academic pressure often arises from multiple sources, including heavy academic workloads, high parental expectations, strong self-imposed expectations, and limited peer support. These pressures may create challenging learning conditions that affect students’ emotional states and their ability to perform academically. Drawing on students’ narratives as the primary data source, this study examines how academic pressure contributes to stress, anxiety, fear of failure, and tendencies toward social withdrawal. The study aims to examine seven key aspects related to academic pressure, including negative emotional experiences, sources of academic stress, and the relationships between parental expectations, self-expectations, workload demands, and peer support in shaping students’ stress levels. Participants were selected using proportional stratified random sampling to represent diverse student groups. The findings indicate that high parental expectations often encourage perfectionism and fear of failure, while high self-expectations are associated with feelings of inadequacy and frustration. Heavy workloads contribute to academic burnout, reflected in emotional exhaustion, and reduced motivation. Limited peer support further intensifies negative emotions and weakens students’ sense of belonging.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji seberapa efektif model pembelajaran berbasis literasi digital dalam meningkatkan Keterampilan dalam menganalisis dan mengevaluasi informasi secara logis siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri Kota Baru. Dasar pemikiran dilakukannya penelitian ini didasari oleh kurangnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa akibat pembelajaran konvensional yang jarang mengintegrasikan literasi digital. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui desain pre-eksperimental tipe satu kelompok dengan pretest dan posttest. Partisipan Penelitian ini melibatkan 20 orang siswa dari satu kelas VII C. Penelitian eksperimen merupakan jenis penelitian yang bermaksud guna mengamati efek maupun pengaruh yang muncul akibat pemberian perlakuan tertentu. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes pemahaman dan angket respon siswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas, dan pengujian hipotesis, disertai penggunaan uji N-Gain. Temuan penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan, dibuktikan dengan skor uji N-Gain meencapai 0,7091dan nilai presentase N-Gain sebesar 70,9088%yang masuk dalam kategori efektivitas tinggi. Selain itu, respon siswa juga positif ditandai dengan meningkatnya motivasi, ketertarikan, dan sikap kritis melalui pembelajaran video berbasis YouTube. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran literasi digital terbukti efektif dalam menumbuhkembangkan daya pikir kritis siswa
