Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is a type of freshwater fish that people often consume because of its high nutritional value, deliciousness, and affordability. However, catfish products are often damaged due to high water content. Production of catfish flour is an alternative to make catfish products more durable and easier to diversify. The objective of this study is to determine the proximate and nutritional content of catfish flour produced using different drying times (duration) and temperatures. This study used an experimental laboratory method with two treatment factors, namely drying temperature consisting of 2 levels (60°C and 150°C) and drying time (duration) consisting of 2 levels (36 hours and 3 hours). The result showed the proximate and nutrition content of catfish flour with a drying temperature of 60°C and duration of 36 hours was fat 17.3402%, protein 83.9166%, water 9.8682%, ash 4.7125%, Fe 0.0157%, Ca 0.0602%, Zn 0.0029%. While the proximate and nutrition content of catfish flour with a drying temperature of 150°C and duration of 3 hours was fat 22.0204%, protein 85.9741%, water 6.1044%, ash 4.2682%, Fe 0.0022%, Ca 0.1073%, Zn 0.0032%. This finding reveals that drying temperature and time affected catfish flour's proximate and nutrition content.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a transporter robot as a learning tool for elementary and secondary school students to introduce them to robotics. The robot features a differential drive system and a lifting arm akin to a forklift system. The robot is controlled using an ESP32 microcontroller and connected to an Android application through a Firebase cloud database. Utilizing an IoT platform, the training can be conducted online, allowing students to control the robot remotely while it remains at the training location. The transporter robot is designed to provide an interactive and hands-on learning experience in robotics, enabling students to grasp fundamental concepts in robotics, programming, and control systems. The differential drive system offers excellent maneuverability, while the lifting arm allows the robot to perform tasks such as lifting and moving objects, adding functional aspects to the learning process. Test results indicate that the robot performs well under online control, with fast and accurate responses to commands from the Android application. The use of Firebase ensures stable and real-time communication between the robot and the application. This implementation not only enhances the accessibility of robotics training but also enables the development of students' STEM skills in a more flexible and affordable manner. The study concludes that an ESP32-based transporter robot with online control via an Android application and Firebase cloud database can be an effective and innovative learning tool. This tool aims to enhance students’ STEM skills -especially in programming, control systems, and mechanical design- through interactive, real-world applications.

Abstract

PT Sehat Sejahtera Bersama is a business that produces soy beverages. There are currently no established guidelines for equipment arrangement at the PT Sehat Sejahtera Bersama facility. The flow of industrial processes is not considered by the machines used in it. As a result, there is less space for employees to move around, and time is wasted doing repetitive tasks, making the industrial process less effective and lowering output. The blocplan technique is the approach taken to overcome this problem. The facility layout problem at PT Sehat Sejahtera Bersama can be solved using this approach by considering the final layout, material transportation distance, degree of relationship closeness, and area requirements. The area at PT Sehat Sejahtera Bersama is 244.33 m², and the total space required is 647,1 m². In the suggested layout, which is the 17th layout out of 20 possible layouts, the choice of the blocplan method is based on the R-Score value, which is almost the same or close to 1.

Abstract

The cigar industry in Jember Regency is recognized as one of Indonesia’s major tobacco production centers, contributing significantly to the regional economy. However, its production process generates substantial waste, including rejected leaves, stems, tobacco dust, and packaging waste, which may pose environmental challenges. This study aims to apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and control cigar waste as part of efforts to promote circular economy practices and sustainable industry. A descriptive quantitative method was employed, with data collected through direct observation, structured interviews, and statistical analysis using X-bar, R, and I-MR control charts. Results indicate that most production processes remain within control limits, although special variations were detected in wrapper leaf quality and tobacco moisture content. Process capability analysis revealed that leaf scraps (Cpk = 1.69) met the required standards, whereas defective cigars (Cpk = 0.28) required corrective actions through workforce training and SOP standardization. The cause-and-effect (Ishikawa) diagram identified key contributing factors including manpower, machines, materials, methods, and environment. Findings highlight that implementing SPC not only reduces production costs and improves efficiency but also creates opportunities for utilizing waste into derivative products such as hand-rolled kretek cigarettes (SKT), thereby supporting green industry practices. Thus, SPC can serve as a practical and strategic model for sustainable quality control in Jember’s cigar industry.

Abstract

Milk is a nutrient-rich product produced by dairy cattle and plays an important role in preventing stunting in children under five years of age. In the production of milk-based products for toddlers, the quality of raw materials is a critical factor, particularly in terms of standardization and consumer acceptance. East Java Province is one of the largest milk-producing regions in Indonesia, with potential fresh milk sources originating from Jember, Probolinggo, and Banyuwangi Regencies. This study aimed to determine the best fresh milk raw material from these local sources by integrating chemical quality evaluation and hedonic analysis. A quantitative descriptive method was applied using Lactoscan analysis to assess the chemical composition of fresh milk samples. The results showed that all samples met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements for fresh milk, indicating comparable chemical quality across regions. Although minor variations in nutritional components were observed, these differences were not decisive in determining overall quality. Based on hedonic analysis, fresh milk from Banyuwangi Regency was identified as the most preferred sample. This finding highlights the novelty of the study, demonstrating that when chemical quality among milk samples is relatively similar, sensory preference becomes the determining factor in selecting the best raw material for toddler-oriented milk products.
