Core Subject : Education,
Journal of Action Research in Education (JARE) is concerned with exploring the dialogue between research and practice in educational settings. The considerable increase in interest in action research in recent years has been accompanied by the development of a number of different approaches: for example, to promote reflective practice; professional development; empowerment; understanding of tacit professional knowledge; curriculum development; individual, institutional and community change; and development of democratic management and administration. Proponents of all these share the common aim of ending the dislocation of research from practice, an aim which links them with those involved in participatory research and action inquiry. This journal publishes accounts of a range of action research and related studies, in education and across the professions, with the aim of making their outcomes widely available and exemplifying the variety of possible styles of reporting. It aims to establish and maintain a review of the literature of action research. It also provides a forum for dialogue on the methodological and epistemological issues, enabling different approaches to be subjected to critical reflection and analysis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes on social studies content, especially on the material of human needs by utilizing the school environment as a learning resource. This research uses the type of Classroom Action Research with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and tests which will then be analyzed using quantitative analysis techniques. This research was conducted on fourth grade students of SD Negeri Gili Anyar, Bangkalan, East Java with a total of 27 students as respondents. The criteria for the success of this class action research (PTK) action is as many as 75% of students have completeness of learning outcomes with a score of 75 as the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). In the pre-cycle the percentage of students who passed was only 7.407%. Researchers used the school environment as a learning resource which then increased learning outcomes with a percentage of 40.740% in cycle I and in cycle II with a percentage of 85.185%. The percentage results above show that the use of the school environment as a source of student learning in social studies content, especially the material of human needs can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to see the effectiveness of the inquiry learning model on student learning outcomes in mathematics learning about plane figures. This research was conducted on class IV students at SDN Keleyan 1, Bangkalan. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research, which is a form of practical research that aims to improve learning in the classroom. This research is one of the teacher's efforts in the form of various activities carried out to improve and increase the quality of learning in the classroom. There are several data collection techniques used, namely observation, interviews, and giving questions or tests. In the first cycle of implementing mathematics learning using the inquiry learning model, there were 16 students whose learning results met the KKM or 70 and above and there were 15 students whose learning results did not meet the KKM or 70 or below. In cycle II, there were 25 students whose learning results met the KKM or 70 and above and there were 6 students whose learning results did not meet the KKM or 70 or below. In this classroom action research it can be shown that the application of the inquiry model is effective in improving student learning outcomes. Through this model, in the learning process students are encouraged to be actively involved in understanding concepts and principles. The teacher's role is to help students gain direct experience and carry out experiments to discover these principles independently, so that students' understanding of the material will increase which will have an impact on improving the quality of their learning outcomes. With this increase in learning outcomes, the research results show an increase in the percentage of student learning outcomes in cycle I and cycle II as well as student achievement in achieving the KKM in cycle II.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out what factors cause students to be less interested in learning literacy and to find out whether there is an increase in student literacy when learning Indonesian using the storytelling method. This research was carried out in class 5 at SDN Nyormanis 2 using the classroom action research method. This method is implemented through cycle I and cycle II. Cycle I was carried out by giving a test without any action, in cycle II before being given the test the researcher carried out an action where the researcher told a short story, explained the material using the storytelling method, then the researcher gave the test. In the first cycle, it was discovered that there were still students who got lower grades. In cycle II, it is known that students get increased grades. Based on field conditions, the internal factor causing the low literacy interest of students at SDN Nyormanis 02 class V is the students' low reading ability. Lack of parental awareness of the importance of education for children. It can be concluded that the storytelling method is effective in improving students' literacy skills in Indonesian language subjects.

Abstract

This research is motivated by observational data that shows students' learning activity in IPAS material is very low. To respond to that, the researcher conducted a classroom action research aimed at improving students' learning activity. The objectives to be achieved in this research include: (1) To determine the improvement of students' engagement in learning through the use of lecture method, (2) To determine the improvement of students' engagement in the learning process through the use of cooperative learning model, specifically Teams Games Tournament (TGT). This research is a classroom action research. This research was conducted in class IVB with a total of 32 students, consisting of 17 male students and 15 female students. The research was conducted in 2 cycles, and the results showed an improvement in effectiveness in the second cycle. The change occurred because in the second cycle, students were more engaged in working together with their group, so there was less opportunity to discuss with other groups. This research measures several student learning skills, namely: questioning skills, answering skills, discussing skills, and group learning skills. The research findings show improvement in each domain in each cycle. The selection of this learning model is highly suitable and can enhance students' engagement in learning because in this learning model, students are not just passive listeners during the lesson, but they actively participate, think, learn, and compete among groups. This makes students challenged to win the competition and become active in learning.
