Abstract

The study aims to analyze the impact of product quality and price on consumer purchasing decisions at Toko Gopek Medan. A quantitative method using multiple linear regression was employed. The findings reveal that product quality significantly influences purchasing decisions, with a positive regression coefficient indicating that improvements in product quality can enhance consumer purchasing decisions. Conversely, price does not show a significant effect on purchasing decisions, as evidenced by a p-value greater than 0.05. The adjusted R-squared value of 0.868 indicates that approximately 86.8% of the variation in purchasing decisions can be explained by product quality and price. These results suggest that Toko Gopek Medan should focus its marketing efforts on enhancing product quality to attract more consumers and increase sales. This research provides strategic insights for the future development of Toko Gopek's business.

Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of halal literacy on consumer interest in purchasing halal-labeled sunscreen products in Medan. Utilizing data from 250 potential consumers and 15 business respondents, the study employed deep interviews and training sessions to assess how increased halal literacy influences consumer behavior. The findings reveal that consumers with a better understanding of halal principles exhibit a heightened interest in buying sunscreen with a halal logo, driven by perceived quality and religious compliance. The research highlights that while the halal logo alone may not suffice to boost consumer confidence, improved halal literacy significantly enhances trust and purchasing intentions. This increased literacy not only fosters consumer loyalty but also supports business sustainability by reinforcing the market position of halal products. The study concludes that ongoing education on halal standards is essential for manufacturers to effectively attract and retain consumers, emphasizing the need for clear communication about the benefits of halal certification. The implications suggest that businesses should invest in educational campaigns to bridge information gaps and leverage halal literacy to drive product sales.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and develop effective price perception optimization strategies to increase consumer satisfaction of Gacoan Noodles, especially among students of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. In the face of intense competition in the culinary industry, appropriate pricing is an important factor in maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty. This article uses Focus Group Discussion (FGD), training, and participatory methods to explore students' perceptions of the price and value of Mie Gacoan products. The results show that although the price of Mie Gacoan has been affordable, there is still a need to improve consumer perceptions related to product value. Therefore, additional education is needed through counseling and training related to price communication strategies. The training conducted succeeded in strengthening Mie Gacoan managers' understanding of how to maintain and improve consumers' positive perceptions of price, as well as managing consumer expectations to match the quality of the products offered. In addition, loyalty programs were also identified as an effective tool for building long-term relationships with consumers. Through the implementation of these strategies, Mie Gacoan is expected to significantly increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Abstract

This study investigates the economic dynamics of farmers and the role of middlemen within the agricultural system of Serdang Bedagai, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through unstructured in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis to explore the structural, economic, and institutional conditions shaping farmer livelihoods. The findings reveal that farmers experience multidimensional constraints, including dependency on middlemen for credit and market access, significant price asymmetry along the value chain, rising production costs due to limited access to subsidized inputs, unequal adoption of modern agricultural technologies, and persistent challenges in irrigation and local governance. These interconnected factors reinforce a cycle of vulnerability that limits farmers' bargaining power and economic mobility. The study highlights that farmers' dependency is not merely relational but structurally embedded within an environment of market failures and weak institutional support. The results contribute to agrarian political economy studies by demonstrating how market structure, infrastructure, and credit systems jointly reproduce dependency. Practically, the study offers insights for policymakers to strengthen agricultural infrastructure, expand access to formal credit, improve subsidy distribution, and promote inclusive technological transformation. The research concludes that comprehensive, multi-sectoral interventions are required to enhance farmer welfare and reduce structural dependency within rural agricultural systems

Abstract

The urgency to revisit the intellectual foundations of modern economics is growing amidst institutional instability, economic inequality, and the challenges of sustainable development, making Ibn Khaldun's thought relevant again as a comprehensive conceptual alternative. This article aims to analyze the contribution of Ibn Khaldun's economic thought to the modern economic model through a historical-sociological approach, by examining how the 14th-century social, political, and cultural context shaped his theoretical framework and assessing its relevance to contemporary economic theory and practice. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study design, utilizing primary data from Al-Muqaddimah and secondary data from various academic studies, which are analyzed through data reduction, thematic categorization, and comparative interpretation techniques. The results show that Ibn Khaldun's concepts-such as 'asabiyyah, the work-based theory of value, market mechanisms, the role of the state, distributive justice, and the cycle of civilization-have strong correspondences with modern institutional economics, behavioral economics, and fiscal theory, including the Laffer curve principle and the institution-based growth model. These findings enrich the study of the history of economic thought and offer a more integrative analytical framework for understanding the relationship between social stability, institutional quality, and economic performance. The study's conclusions confirm that Ibn Khaldun's thoughts possess not only historical value but also practical relevance for developing equitable and sustainable economic policies. Further studies are recommended to empirically test the key variables in Ibn Khaldun's model using quantitative or mixed-method approaches to expand the validity and applicability of the findings.
