Abstract

This study examines the challenges faced by teacher in teaching English to very young children (TEVYL) in Indonesia, emphasizing the unique characteristics of this age group. To effectively engage young learners, educators must use interactive methods such as games, storytelling, and songs, which align with Vygotsky and Piaget's theories of language acquisition through play and environmental interactions. However, teachers often struggle with choosing the right teaching method, as significant challenges arise, including inadequate training, lack of resources, and classroom density. This research used qualitative research, the number and type of approaches, and the design used a phenomenology, so the researcher describes an individual's life experiences of a phenomenon as described by the teacher as a participant. This study underscores the importance of accommodating a variety of learning styles, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic, to create a multisensory learning environment that suits each child's unique preferences. The research also highlights the urgent need for improved curricula and better teacher training to build teaching effectiveness in early English education. In addition, teachers should foster an atmosphere that supports and encourages self-confidence and participation among very young learners, as their natural tendency to engage and experiment with language is essential for effective learning. The findings suggest a critical need for collaboration between teachers and governments to develop optimal teaching strategies and resources, in order to ensure that early childhood children receive a strong foundation in English language skills during their developmental years.

Abstract

Short-form video platforms, particularly TikTok, have emerged as significant informal English language learning environments, yet the instructional quality and pragmatic competence coverage of creator-produced ELT content remain largely unexamined. This study conducts a qualitative comparative content analysis of twenty TikTok videos (ten produced by an Indonesian local creator, @gurukumrd, and ten by a native speaker creator, @englishwithlucy to evaluate and compare their instructional approaches across two analytical dimensions: instructional quality and pragmatic competence coverage. Drawing on Mayer's (2009) cognitive theory of multimedia learning, Searle's (1969) speech act theory, and Brown and Levinson's (1987) politeness theory, the analysis reveals two pedagogically distinct but complementary content profiles. @gurukumrd demonstrates consistent contrastive pragmatic scaffolding, dialogic scenario construction, and explicit orientation toward the L1 interference patterns of Indonesian learners. @englishwithlucy demonstrates high production clarity, lexical depth, and authentic cultural modeling, delivered through a monologic format that prioritizes definitional accuracy over social contextualization. Neither approach is pedagogically superior; rather, the findings suggest that local and native speaker ELT creators offer complementary instructional affordances that, when considered together, more comprehensively address the pragmatic competence needs of Indonesian EFL learners. Implications are discussed for EFL educators, content creators, and researchers in digital language learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mathematical concepts contained in the design of traditional fishing boats and fishing gear used by the coastal community of Bengkulu through an ethnomathematical approach. The study employed a qualitative descriptive research method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving traditional fishermen and community members who understand the process of making and using traditional boats and fishing gear. The results showed that various mathematical concepts are embedded in the design of traditional boats and fishing gear. Traditional boats demonstrate mathematical concepts such as three-dimensional geometry, symmetry, measurement, proportional relationships, and angles, which contribute to balance and efficiency when operating at sea. Meanwhile, traditional fishing gear, particularly fish traps (bubu), reflects concepts of three-dimensional geometry, weaving patterns, symmetry, and proportional measurements that support their functionality. These findings indicate that the coastal community of Bengkulu has applied mathematical concepts in cultural practices and daily activities, even without formally recognizing them as mathematics. This study is expected to contribute to the preservation of local culture and provide contextual mathematics learning resources that are closely related to students' environments.

Abstract

Changes in the international world order brought about by globalization have had a direct impact on various nations. Therefore, the noble values of Pancasila must be upheld considering the challenges and threats that exist today and have an impact on the life of society, nation and state. Therefore, because Pancasila is the ideology of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian people use it as a guide in the implementation of national and state life. This is one way to actualize Pancasila in the era of globalization by examining the noble values of Pancasila and considering how rational and applicable these values are in solving contemporary problem. The manifestation of the formulation of social norms is the actualization of Pancasila values. Pancasila is used as a rule in the state and express, the true type of execution in the public eye determines the extent to which these Pancasila values exist in everyone. The ideology of the Indonesian state and nation can survive amidst the rapid advancement of technology, which has had various positive and negative impacts for all generations in Indonesia. The younger generation is the main actor and future successor of the State. The form of application and practice of Pancasila values can illustrate this. In this case there are still obstacles in the application of Pancasila values which are still not implemented properly among the younger generation in the field of technology, especially information technology. However, we can overcome this through several efforts, both through extensive learning on a formal basis and open discourse spaces as joint conversations.

Abstract

The integration of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) power plants into power systems has become one of the main strategies to support Indonesia’s energy transition targets as outlined in the 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL). One of the planned projects is a 126 MW PV power plant that will be connected to the 150 kV Central Kalimantan transmission system. Although it increases the utilization of renewable energy, high PV penetration may affect system frequency response due to the reduced contribution of synchronous generator inertia. This study aims to analyze the impact of PV integration on system frequency response using Root Mean Square (RMS) simulations in DIgSILENT PowerFactory. The evaluation was conducted through PV disconnection scenarios at penetration levels of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, as well as the outage of the largest generating unit. The results show that increasing PV penetration decreases the frequency nadir from 49.944 Hz to 49.778 Hz and increases the Rate of Change of Frequency (RoCoF) from 0.530 Hz/s to 2.154 Hz/s. In the largest generator outage scenario, RoCoF increases from 1.199 Hz/s to 1.257 Hz/s without significant changes in the other frequency response parameters. The results indicate that the integration of the 126 MW PV power plant can still be accommodated by the 150 kV Central Kalimantan system without significant degradation of frequency response performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Bank Indonesia in maintaining the stability of the Indonesian Rupiah amid the strengthening of the United States Dollar (USD) in 2026. The appreciation of the USD, driven by the Federal Reserve's interest rate policy, global economic uncertainty, and increased demand for safe-haven assets, has put pressure on the currencies of developing countries, including the Rupiah. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a literature review and policy analysis approach. The study utilizes secondary data obtained from publications of Bank Indonesia, Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Finance, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, as well as various scientific journals and economic articles. The findings indicate that the strengthening of the USD contributed to the depreciation of the Rupiah, increased inflationary pressures, and affected trade and investment activities in Indonesia. To maintain Rupiah stability, Bank Indonesia implemented various policies, including foreign exchange market intervention, adjustments to the policy interest rate, optimization of monetary instruments, strengthening foreign exchange reserves, and stabilizing the domestic financial market. These policies were considered relatively effective in reducing exchange rate volatility and maintaining economic confidence. Therefore, strong coordination between Bank Indonesia and the government is essential to strengthen national economic resilience in response to evolving global economic dynamics.
