Abstract

This study aims to develop effective Islamic Religious Education (IRE) strategies to enhance students’ learning motivation in the digital era through a qualitative case study across Indonesia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. The research focuses on understanding how different educational contexts implement learning strategies and how these strategies influence student motivation. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving students, teachers, and educational experts. The findings reveal that students’ learning motivation is significantly influenced by four key factors: digital integration, student-centered learning approaches, the strategic role of teachers, and the contextualization of religious values. Turkey demonstrates the most effective model by integrating interactive digital tools with student-centered pedagogy, resulting in high intrinsic motivation. Saudi Arabia shows strong technological support and structured learning environments, although motivation tends to be more extrinsically driven. Meanwhile, Indonesia reflects a transitional stage, where digital tools are utilized but not yet optimally integrated into pedagogical practices. The study concludes that effective IRE strategies in the digital era require a holistic approach that combines technological innovation, active learning, teacher facilitation, and meaningful content. These findings contribute to the development of more adaptive and engaging IRE practices and provide practical implications for educators and policymakers. Future research is recommended to explore experimental designs and long-term impacts of digital-based IRE strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the reorientation of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in the post-truth era by grounding the value of rahmah as a core value in multicultural Islamic education. The background of this research is based on the increasing phenomenon of religious disinformation, social polarization, and the low critical literacy of students, which indicates that the role of the PAI curriculum in responding to contemporary dynamics is not yet optimal. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design on Islamic educational institutions that have multicultural characteristics. Data collection techniques were carried out thru in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, which were then analyzed using an interactive model thru the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and verification. The research results show that the internalization of the value of rahmah in the PAI curriculum is capable of shifting the learning paradigm from normative-doctrinal to contextual-transformative. The value of rahmah is implemented thru the integration of teaching materials based on contemporary issues, the use of dialogic methods, and an emphasis on fostering attitudes of empathy and inclusivity. These findings affirm that the value of rahmah plays a strategic role in enhancing critical awareness and religious digital literacy among students. Thus, the reorientation of the PAI curriculum based on the value of rahmah becomes a relevant solution in building an adaptive, humanistic, and responsive Islamic education to the challenges of the post-truth era. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Learning Management Systems (LMS) in strengthening interaction in Islamic education learning within the digital era. The research focuses on how digital learning platforms facilitate communication, collaboration, and engagement between teachers and students in the learning process. This study employed a qualitative literature review, examining relevant studies, academic articles, and educational practices related to LMS implementation in Islamic education. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis to identify patterns, opportunities, and challenges in digital learning interaction. The findings indicate that the use of LMS significantly improves learning interaction through discussion forums, online assignments, feedback mechanisms, and flexible access to learning materials. In addition, LMS supports student-centered learning and encourages active participation in Islamic education classes. However, several challenges remain, including digital literacy gaps, limitations in technological infrastructure, and varying levels of teacher readiness. The study concludes that LMSs serve as effective digital learning platforms for enhancing interaction in Islamic education and recommends strengthening technological competence and institutional support to maximize learning outcomes in the digital era

Abstract

This study examines the dialectic between the habitus of baraka (blessing) and competency rationality in the practice of religious knowledge transmission at Indonesian pesantren and Pakistani madrasah, and their contribution to social transformation. Employing a multi-site comparative qualitative approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis at four institutions: two pesantren in Indonesia (Pasuruan, East Java, and Gontor, East Java) and two madrasahs in Pakistan (Lahore and Karachi), selected on the basis of a traditional-integrative typology. Integrating Pierre Bourdieu's capital-habitus framework and Jürgen Habermas's communicative rationality, the study identifies three principal findings. First, the habitus of baraka functions as a dispositional system that simultaneously reproduces and impels the transformation of cultural, social, and symbolic capital. Second, spaces for communicative action in Indonesian pesantren are comparatively more open than in Pakistani madrasah, which remain dominated by unilateral textual authority. Third, differences in field dynamics between the two contexts generate distinct yet complementary patterns of social transformation. The study proposes a new analytical modelthe Habitus-Competency Dialectic (HCD)that offers a more moderate, inclusive, and competency-oriented framework for Islamic educational policy and curriculum design. These findings contribute to the development of comparative Islamic educational sociology and extend the Bourdieu-Habermas theoretical dialogue into non-Western religious educational settings.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of political freedom from the perspective of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s social contract theory and its relevance in Islam. This study is motivated by the importance of understanding the relationship between political freedom, popular sovereignty, and moral values in the life of a nation. This study aims to analyze the concept of political freedom according to Rousseau, understand the relationship between humanity and political freedom within social contract theory, and examine its relevance from an Islamic perspective. The research method employed is qualitative research using a literature review approach. The primary data source is Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s book titled “The Social Contract,” while secondary data is obtained from relevant scholarly articles. All collected data is analyzed through descriptive and thematic analysis. The research findings indicate that political freedom according to Rousseau is a freedom based on compliance with laws formed through the general will. From an Islamic perspective, this concept is relevant to the principles of shura, justice, equality of rights, and public participation in political life. The implications of this research indicate that political freedom must be exercised responsibly, grounded in moral values, justice, and the common good in the life of the state.
