Abstract

Abstract

One who learns and reads Western Philosophy is familiar with theDecartes' proposition 'cogito ergo sum'. This proposition becomesontological and epistemological reason of our existence.Nevertheless, one can also explore another reason of existence, notonly this Cartesian proposition considered the universal. A nuanceof affirmation implied within a local tradition of wisdom can be theother ontological and epistemological reason. Therefore, anexploration the nuance of affirmation in Asian tradition of wisdomis necessarily discovered this alternative reason of existence (1).One can discover such alternative reason from a local worldviewand philosophical narration in a local tradition of wisdom (2). Thisarticle observes the worldview and philosophical narration ofSundanese people. The observation offers a further interpretationto the Sundanese worldview and philosophical narration. Thepurpose of this interpretation is to formulate the nuance ofaffirmation as it is implied in the local system of knowledge. Aprinciple of affirmation is derived from the interpretation of thesystem of knowledge (3). The interpretation also becomes a furtherinvitation to explore and to find out an intercultural understandingand dialogues of various systems of knowledge (4).

Abstract

With regard to the connectedness of the political subject and its community, Rawls’s theory of justice has often been criticised by the thinkers whose thoughts are oriented towards community. Rawls was considered to have impoverished the political subject by treating it as floating individual, rooted out of its foundation in community. In the middle of the debate that was still going on around this matter, an edited version of the young Rawls’s thesis was published. Despite the fact that this did not help much in saving this philosopher from the criticism by the communitarian thinkers because of his final preference that leaned towards political conception, the ethical theological work at least showed that communitarian position was once chosen by Rawls. By reading and comparing and juxtaposing this work with his later works, we can see that Rawls, the proposer of justice as fairness, did not completely drop his younger thought on person and community. In other words, between the theological ethics of the Young Rawls and the justice theory of Rawls there is a continuity of thought. This can be sensed among other in his basic assumptions on the individual and the society, those he implies in his argument on the ‘difference principle’ and the ‘principle of equal opportunity’. Keywords :*person *personality *individual *community *society *difference principle *principle of equal opportunity *fairness *equality *equality in community *civic friendship *interpersonal*relationship *comprehensive doctrine

Abstract

Abstract

The prophetical offices are always started with prophetic call narrative. There are several unique elements in this prophetic call narrative, which can be found in prophetic call moments of the prophets, namely the role of God’s Words, the appearance of God (theophany) in its variety, and the delegation mission task. What is interesting to analyze is the variety of God’s appearances (theophany), since the varieties depend on the context of each prophet and the delegation mission tasks given to them. This article discusses the prophetic call narrative of Jeremiah. At first sight, the calling and delegation moments of Jeremiah resembles Isaiah and Ezekiel’s, especially in God’s hands and the prophet’s mouth activity. Nevertheless, in Jeremiah’s prophetic call narrative, God’s activities have a special meaning related to his context. In Jeremiah’s case, the act of God touching his mouth and putting His words into it is the emphasis of the authenticity of God’s Words that comes out of Jeremiah’s mouth. The authenticity is needed by Jeremiah because he has to face false prophets.

Abstract

The article seeks to elicit some current tendencies that have made science, philosophy and religion in the third millennium change their self-perception, hence a paradigm shift. The hermeneutic point of view, the bias of gender, the negative impacts, the critique of the ideological presupposition behind each field, along with their respective internal evolution, have all put science, philosophy and religion into a redefinition and recontextualization. By now science has recognized the limits of its own logic and language, and seems to see the possibility of different kinds of ‘logic’ used by other types of knowledge. Philosophy, after Heideggerian phenomenology, has seemed to lose the possibility of creating an ‘all encompassing’ system of thought, and instead has to be more modest in simply identifying hermeneutically various modes of knowledge and their interconnection with pre-reflective modes of being, as well as in uncovering the root of today’s problems of life and humanity. As for religion, to revitalize itself today it has to shift its basic orientation, from doctrine and its propositional truth-claim to the complexity of religious experience, from ‘what one believes’ to ‘what one does’. Keywords :*Flux, *Web, *Relasional, *Ideologis, *Logika, *Lebenswelt, *hermeneutik, *narasi besar, *pra-reflektif, *doktrin, *pengalaman, *religion without religion
