Abstract

This study explores the concept and management of organizational culture in fostering innovation within Private Islamic Senior High Schools in Riau Province, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis, supported by relevant reference instruments. The findings reveal two key insights. First, the strength of an organizational concept extends beyond its formal structure to include its responsiveness to both internal and external demands. In the context of Private Islamic Senior High Schools in Riau, this is demonstrated by the ability to align national education policies with the local needs of students and communities. The organization’s role as a facilitator of innovation is crucial to ensuring that learning programs are not only routine but also responsive to real-world educational challenges. Second, sustainable educational innovation requires an organizational culture rooted in creativity, risk-taking, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Such a culture can be cultivated through effective leadership, regular collective reflection, and strong collaboration among teachers. Furthermore, strategic management of organizational culture can help overcome structural and psychological barriers that often hinder meaningful change

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of pesantren management, kiai skills, and team development on change adaptation in Modern Islamic Boarding Schools in Riau Province. Change in pesantren is a necessity to adapt to the development of science and the demands of the times. The theory used in this study is the Work Team Effectiveness Model proposed by Danny Samson, Timothy Donnet, and Richard L. Daft, which emphasizes team effectiveness influenced by factors such as productive output, personal satisfaction, and the capacity to adapt and learn. This study proposes the hypothesis that there is an influence of pesantren management and kiai skills on team development and change adaptation partially, as well as a simultaneous influence between the three on change adaptation. This research method uses a quantitative approach with regression analysis to test the relationship between these variables. The results showed that pesantren management, kiai skills, and team development significantly influenced change adaptation in Modern Islamic Boarding Schools. This research is expected to contribute to the development of change management in Islamic educational institutions, especially pesantren, in facing the challenges of modernity.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is the ability of students to understand, explain scientific phenomena, and use scientific knowledge in decision making, however the scientific literacy of students in Indonesia is still relatively low. This development research aims to analyze the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of learning modules with a STEM approach to temperature and heat material to improve scientific literacy of grade VII junior high school students. This study uses the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The module product was tested on 10 students in a small group trial and 28 students in a large class trial at SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin. The data were analyzed descriptively with validity analysis techniques using the Aiken's V formula, practicality analysis based on the percentage of student response questionnaires, and effectiveness analysis using the N-Gain value from the pretest and posttest results. The results showed that the learning module obtained a validity score of 0.92 (very valid), practicality of 90.54% (very practical), and N-Gain of 0.84 (high category). Based on these results, the STEM-based learning module is feasible to use, practical and effective in improving students' scientific literacy

Abstract

Microteaching plays a crucial role in preparing pre-service teachers, but its implementation is hindered by inconsistent rubrics, the absence of standardized procedures, and concerns about student readiness. This study aimed to explore the implementation of microteaching and student readiness for teaching practice through a preliminary investigation. A descriptive method was employed, combining document analysis and a survey. Document analysis was conducted on three microteaching rubrics used by lecturers and one academic guideline, while the survey involved 20 students who had completed their teaching practice, using five Likert-scale statements. The findings revealed variations in weighting across assessment aspects such as lesson planning, teaching skills, media usage, and reflection. The review also indicated the absence of a specific standardized operational procedure for microteaching. Furthermore, 65% of students reported that microteaching did not adequately prepare them, 55% perceived inconsistency among lecturers’ assessments, and 70% expressed the need for standardized rubrics and a formal microteaching unit. These preliminary results emphasize urgency of conducting a more systematic evaluation of professional practice curricula in teacher education programs.

Abstract

Effective and efficient school administration is highly desired by all parties, including stakeholders and education customers. However, in reality, school principals still use their authority in decision-making, so that the decisions made do not reflect joint decisions in school administrative order. The purpose of this study is to determine how school principals make decisions in school administrative order. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach to examine and analyze previous studies relevant to the topic being researched, with the following steps: first, the researcher searches for or collects data sources and information; second, the researcher assessed the sources that had been found, third, the researcher analyzed the data and information to answer the research questions, and fourth, the researcher compiled a journal manuscript concept from all the results of the analysis of the data and information that had been collected. The results of the study show that, first, the principal's decision-making process is carried out through problem identification, analysis of the existing situation, development of alternatives, analysis of alternatives, and selection of the best alternative. Second, the factors that influence the principal in decision-making are position or status, problems that arise, situation, conditions, and objectives to be achieved in decision-making. Third, the styles used by principals in making decisions regarding school administrative order are the directive style, analytical style, conceptual style, and behavioral style. Fourth, the impact of decision making is greatly influenced by the principal's ability to make decisions appropriately and contextually in accordance with the stages of an effective decision-making process. Practical contributions can help improve the principal's capacity in decision-making by providing various information related to decision-making for school administrative order. Meanwhile, theoretical contributions can help develop better and more comprehensive decision-making theories in the effort to maintain school administrative order

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of religious moderation through tolerance values in Islamic Religious Education within the Muaro Jambi Temple Complex. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study analyzes how tolerance is practiced and interpreted by the local Muslim community, traditional leaders, and educators. The data were examined to identify patterns and relationships that reflect the integration of religious principles with the social and cultural context of the site. The findings reveal that tolerance is demonstrated through the community’s ability to maintain strong religious commitment while simultaneously respecting and preserving the cultural and historical heritage. 1) The temple environment is used as a living laboratory for learning, where teachers of Annisa Kindergarten and Itihadul Khoiriyah MTs integrate wasathiyah values through a contextual, historical, and experiential learning pedagogical approach that provides opportunities for students to understand cultural diversity; practice tolerance, and avoid extreme judgments of differences. 2) The community remains steadfast in the value of monotheism while interpreting the existence of historical sites as part of a cultural identity that needs to be maintained, so that their religious practices are inclusive, balanced, and harmonious, in line with the paradigm of Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin; 3) Socio-religious life, worship activities, and educational activities take place side by side with the flow of cultural tourism without conflict, indicating a strong internalization of religious moderation at the practical level
