Abstract

This study delves into the challenges of translating culturally nuanced elements in literature, with a focus on untranslatable terms and concepts. Drawing from Indian drama, it explores how cultural idioms, metaphors, and philosophical constructs like rasa and dharma resist direct translation, necessitating innovative strategies to preserve their essence. Employing theories by eminent theorists and translators such as Lawrence Venuti and Sujit Mukherjee, the paper examines the effectiveness of domestication and foreignization in addressing these challenges. It highlights how translators navigate the delicate balance between retaining the cultural integrity of the source text and ensuring accessibility for the target audience. By analyzing case studies and existing translations, this research emphasizes the translator’s role as both an artist and a cultural mediator. The findings underline the significance of cultural sensitivity in translation, advocating for adaptive strategies that respect the original work's aesthetic and cultural dimensions while engaging global readers. This paper contributes to the broader discourse on translation studies, offering insights into the complexities and possibilities of translating culturally rich texts

Abstract

The protection of patients’ personal data constitutes a fundamental privacy right guaranteed under the rule of law. The digital transformation in healthcare services, particularly through electronic medical records in teaching hospitals, increases the risk of improper use of personal data. Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection provides a comprehensive legal framework regulating the classification of health data, principles of data processing, data subject rights, and the obligations of data controllers. This study analyzes the legal regulation, factors influencing the use of patients’ personal data, and the legal certainty of its implementation at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Hospital, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Employing a normative–empirical approach, data were collected through statutory review, relevant legal literature, and interviews with the Head of Medical Records, physicians, and nurses, and were analyzed qualitatively. Findings indicate that while the normative framework is clear, implementation is affected by structural, technical, and cultural factors, rendering legal certainty still at the normative-administrative stage. Strengthening institutional governance, updating internal policies, implementing granular access controls, and enhancing legal literacy among healthcare staff are necessary to ensure effective protection of patients’ rights.

Abstract

This study examines the mental resilience of Indonesian career women in responding to marriage-related social pressure, particularly the recurring question “When will you get married?”. Previous studies have discussed social stigma and psychological pressure toward unmarried women; however, limited studies specifically analyze this phenomenon through the perspective of resilience theory among career women in Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative literature review method using journal articles indexed in Google Scholar, SINTA, and Scopus published between 2018 and 2026. Data were collected using keywords related to career women, marriage pressure, mental resilience, and social stigma. A total of 47 relevant articles were analyzed through thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that marriage-related social pressure contributes to anxiety, stress, loneliness, decreased psychological well-being, and reduced interest in marriage among career women. Furthermore, mental resilience plays a significant role in helping women manage emotional pressure, maintain self-confidence, and develop adaptive coping strategies. This study contributes to the development of resilience psychology discourse, particularly in understanding the relationship between gender expectations, social pressure, and mental well-being among career women in Indonesia.

Abstract

Fine motor skills are essential for early childhood development because they support children's ability to perform activities requiring finger coordination, hand flexibility, and hand-eye coordination. Preliminary observations at UPTD TK Negeri Cut Meutia revealed that the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years had not yet reached the expected developmental level, with only 42% of children achieving the predetermined mastery criteria. Therefore, an effective learning strategy was needed to improve children's fine motor development. This study aimed to improve the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years through hand puppet-assisted role-play activities. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of two cycles. The participants were 10 children in Group B at UPTD TK Negeri Cut Meutia. Data were collected through observation sheets, field notes, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively using percentage calculations. The findings showed a significant improvement in children's fine motor skills throughout the research cycles. Learning mastery increased from 42% in the pre-cycle stage to 65% in Cycle I and reached 80% in Cycle II. Children demonstrated better finger coordination, improved hand flexibility, and greater participation in learning activities involving storytelling and role-play. The study concludes that hand puppet-assisted role-play activities effectively improve the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years. The use of hand puppet media provides meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences that support children's motor development and active engagement in classroom activities.

Abstract

This study analyzes the development of philosophy of education research at the primary education level through a bibliometric approach. Data were obtained from the Scopus database using systematic search criteria, resulting in 573 articles published between 2016 and 2025. The analysis was conducted using R software through the bibliometrix package and the Biblioshiny interface to identify trends in scientific production, conceptual structure, and thematic evolution. The results indicate a significant increase in the number of publications, with an annual growth rate of 31.3%, reflecting growing academic interest in this field. However, the findings also reveal disparities in scientific production across countries, low levels of international collaboration, and fragmentation in the conceptual structure. Conceptual analysis highlights the dominance of core themes such as epistemology, ethics, and phenomenology, as well as the emergence of contemporary themes such as critical thinking and sustainability. Thematic evolution indicates a shift from classical philosophical approaches toward more contextual and applied orientations in education. This study contributes by providing an integrated mapping and diagnosis of the field’s development and emphasizes the importance of strengthening conceptual coherence, global collaboration, and more systematic research directions to support the advancement of philosophy of education in primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model improves fifth-grade students' mathematics learning outcomes in adding fractions with different denominators. This study used a classroom action research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, involving 19 students of SDN 03 Pulai Anak Air, Bukittinggi. Data were collected through learning achievement tests and structured observations of student activities. The results showed a measurable increase in student learning outcomes. The percentage of students achieving mastery increased from 60.87% in Cycle I to 78.26% in Cycle II, while the average score increased from 71.39 to 77.13. In addition, student learning activities showed an increase from 51.33% to 58.5% in both cycles. These findings indicate that the implementation of the STAD model positively contributes to both cognitive achievement and student engagement in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Digital technology-based educational innovation has become an important strategy for improving learning quality in the era of digital transformation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital technology-based educational innovation at Percut Sei Tuan State Junior High School 1, with a focus on the optimization of technology use, teacher and school readiness, and the role of school leadership in supporting digital-based learning. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving school principals, teachers, administrative staff, and students who were directly engaged in digital learning practices. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that digital technology has been used in learning and school administration through laptops, projectors, smart TVs/interactive flat panels, Canva, Google Forms, digital attendance systems, and digital report card systems. These technologies support more interactive, effective, and student-centered learning. However, implementation remains constrained by limited facilities, unequal teacher digital competence, and the need for continuous training. The study concludes that successful digital technology-based educational innovation depends on the integration of adequate infrastructure, teacher readiness, institutional support, and adaptive school leadership.
