Abstract

This study aims to analyze speech act in promotional content for skin care products on TikTok based on John R. Searle’s speech act theory. It uses a qualitative approach with a pragmatic analysis design. The research data consist of utterance units found in captions, visual video text, voice-over narration, and spoken utterances in TikTok content uploaded by brand accounts. Data were collected through documentation techniques, while the data were selected purposively based on content suitability, the presence of promotional utterances, contextual clarity, and the feasibility of pragmatic analysis. From 389 initial utterance units, 205 units were selected as core data after the data-cleaning process. The findings show that representative/assertive speech acts are the most dominant category, with 131 units or 63.9%, followed by directive speech acts with 48 units or 23.4%, commissive speech acts with 16 units or 7.8%, and expressive speech acts with 10 units or 4.9%. Declarative speech acts were not found in the data. These findings indicate that promotional content for skin care products on TikTok is constructed primarily through benefit claims, product information, usage experiences, and solution statements, which are then reinforced by invitations, recommendations, warnings, offers, and evaluative expressions.

Abstract

This study maps the language learning beliefs profile of novice learners who successfully mastered speaking skills at the Muslim Cendekia Institute (IMC). Using an explanatory case study approach, data were gathered through BALLI questionnaires from 64 new female students, oral exam scores, and in-depth interviews with 9 informants. The questionnaire analysis shows that the students' language belief scores fall into the high category (3.91–4.68). This aligns with oral exam documents confirming mass success, where 71.9% of the students achieved high performance at the end of the semester. The key factors for this accelerative success include: 1) Incubation Period (Silent Period): The language-free policy during the first two months effectively reduced affective filters. This policy shifted rigid perfectionism into a risk-taking strategy. 2) Spiritual Motivation: The integration of spiritual-theocentric motivation achieved the highest score (4.82). This value transformed the mandatory language regulation in the third month into a religious moral need rather than an institutional burden. This study implies the importance of providing a language regulation grace period and addressing internal affective factors for novice learners in a full immersion environment.

Abstract

The increasing gap between academic competencies and labor market demands has encouraged higher education institutions to strengthen internship programs as a means of enhancing students’ work readiness. This study aims to analyze the implementation of mentorship, its contribution to improving the quality of internship students, and the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting mentorship effectiveness at PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Jasindo). This research employed a qualitative case study approach conducted from September to December 2025. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving internship students in the Retail Underwriting Unit and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model with the assistance of NVivo 14. The findings reveal that mentorship was implemented through onboarding activities, task guidance, monitoring, work discussions, experience sharing, and performance evaluations involving both internal company mentors and external mentors from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The mentorship program significantly improved students’ hard skills, soft skills, professional adaptability, and career readiness. Supporting factors included mentor support, direct project involvement, conducive work environments, communication, rewards, and field visits, while limited mentoring time, workload pressures, communication barriers, and scheduling uncertainties emerged as major challenges.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has had a significant impact on copyright protection, particularly in terms of the distribution and infringement of copyrighted works online. This study aims to analyze the regulation of copyright law in Indonesia, the forms of protection in the digital era, and the obstacles in its enforcement. The method used is normative juridical with a statutory and conceptual approach. The results of the study indicate that although Indonesia has strong regulations through Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright, its implementation still faces various challenges, such as low public legal awareness, limited surveillance technology, and the cross-border nature of the internet. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen technology-based regulations and increase international cooperation to increase the effectiveness of copyright protection

Abstract

The hospitality industry contributes significantly to the global economy, but its operational activities generate environmental impacts, such as energy consumption, water use, waste, and carbon emissions. This study aims to map research trends related to green practices, green hotels, and sustainable hotels, and to identify dominant themes and literature gaps through a combination of bibliometric and content analysis. This research method uses a qualitative approach through a literature review, with bibliometric data obtained from 959 documents indexed by Scopus, analyzed using VOSviewer through network visualization, overlay, and density visualization. Next, content analysis was conducted on 40 selected articles based on topic relevance and abstract clarity. The bibliometric results show significant growth in publications in the 2020–2025 period, with key clusters related to employee behavior, consumer behavior, green human resource management (GHRM), corporate social responsibility (CSR), organizational performance, and post-pandemic sustainability. The content analysis identified three main categories in the implementation of green practices: human factors, organizational factors, and technology and innovation factors. This study confirms that the implementation of green practices is a multidimensional phenomenon that requires an integrative approach. These findings provide theoretical, practical, and methodological contributions, and offer a future research agenda that emphasizes the integration of people, organizations, and technology, digitalization, and the implementation of smart hospitality.

Abstract

In the era of modern information systems, improving database efficiency and performance is one of the critical factors to ensure smooth operations and real-time transaction processing. This study aims to evaluate the application of in-memory databases in academic information systems. The research method uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The importance of this research lies in the central role of database efficiency in supporting the performance, speed of service, and reliability of academic information systems. The analysis was performed using the TPC-C benchmark scenario to compare the performance between disk-based and in-memory databases under various test conditions. The results show that the use of in-memory databases provides faster response times and higher transaction throughput compared to disk-based databases, especially in online transaction processing (OLTP) transactions. In addition, the test results also highlight the importance of index optimization strategies and parallelism settings in supporting system performance. This study provides strategic recommendations related to the migration of academic information systems to in-memory architecture to improve overall operational efficiency.
