Abstract

The increasing use of digital platforms among Gen Z has contributed to the emergence of consumptive behaviors driven by various digital stimuli, including limited-time notifications, reward systems, and game-based features designed to enhance user engagement. This study aims to analyze the influence of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and marketplace gamification features on impulsive financial behavior among Generation Z, with self-control acting as a moderating variable. Unlike previous studies that examined FOMO and gamification separately, this research integrates both variables into a single model to provide a more comprehensive explanation of Generation Z’s financial behavior by combining psychological factors and digital design elements. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 Generation Z respondents who actively use marketplaces, selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Multiple Linear Regression Analysis with SMART PLS 3. The findings reveal that Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) does not significantly affect financial behavior, whereas gamification has a significant influence on financial behavior. Furthermore, self-control strengthens the relationship between gamification and financial behavior but does not moderate the relationship between FOMO and financial behavior. This study is limited to Generation Z marketplace users, which restricts the generalization of findings to other age groups or digital platform users. Nevertheless, the results provide valuable insights for marketplace practitioners, policymakers, and academics in developing strategies to enhance digital financial literacy, design more responsible gamification features, and strengthen self-control mechanisms to promote healthier financial behavior in the digital era.

Abstract

Hydroelectric Power Plants (PLTA) are often categorized as clean energy, but scientific literature shows that hydroelectric power plants, especially reservoir based ones in tropical regions have the potential to produce significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through submerged biomass decomposition, infrastructure construction, and long-term operation and maintenance. This study aims to calculate carbon emissions based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) at five hydroelectric power plants in the Sumatra region (Singkarak, Maninjau, Koto Panjang, Asahan 1, and Batang Agam), assess the existing condition of Carbon Emission Disclosure (CED) practices, and design an integrated CED implementation model with a Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) framework. The approach used is quantitative-descriptive with cradle-to-grave system limits according to ISO 14040/14044, using a functional unit of 1 kWh of electricity generated. The results show that the life cycle emission intensity of the five hydropower plants ranges from 33.7 to 85.3 g CO₂e/kWh with a weighted average of 52.4 g CO₂e/kWh more than double the global median of 24 g CO₂e/kWh for hydropower plants. Reservoir emissions (CH₄ and CO₂ decomposition) account for 38–67% of total emissions at reservoir-type hydropower plants, making them a hotspot for underreported emissions. The existing CED assessment showed an average CED Index of 0.32 (scale 0–1), well below the “adequate” threshold (≥0.70), indicating that none of the sampled hydropower plants have an integrated and verified emissions disclosure system. The developed CED-MRV model was successfully validated on 4 out of 5 hydropower plants (80%), exceeding the 70% target, and is recommended as a standard for replication for other hydropower plants in Sumatra.

Abstract

The increasingly dynamic, complex, and competitive business environment requires companies to manage resources effectively and develop sustainable competitive advantages. In the financial services industry, particularly futures brokerage firms, business performance is influenced not only by financial outcomes but also by the effectiveness of management control systems and the organization’s innovation capabilities. PT Menara Mas Futures faces challenges related to operational risks, regulatory compliance, service quality, and customer trust, making these factors essential for maintaining business performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of Management Control Systems and Innovation Capability on Business Performance at PT Menara Mas Futures. A quantitative research method with descriptive and verificative approaches was employed. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 33 employees selected using probability sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that Management Control Systems have a positive and significant effect on Business Performance, with a path coefficient of 0.995, a t-statistic of 24.408, and a p-value of 0.000. Conversely, Innovation Capability has a negative and significant effect on Business Performance, with a path coefficient of -0.164, a t-statistic of 3.000, and a p-value of 0.003. The R-Square value of 0.930 demonstrates that both variables explain 93% of the variance in Business Performance. The study concludes that Management Control Systems are the primary driver of business performance, while innovation initiatives should be implemented cautiously and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Abstract

The proliferation of social media has created new avenues for the unauthorized dissemination of personal data. Such conduct not only infringes on individual privacy but may also produce serious harms ranging from reputational damage to threats against victims' safety. This study examines how Indonesian criminal law particularly Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (UU PDP) and Law Number 11 of 2008 as amended by Law Number 19 of 2016 on Electronic Information and Transactions (UU ITE) constructs criminal liability for perpetrators who disseminate personal data through social media. A normative juridical method is employed, drawing on statutory and conceptual approaches. The study also analyzes the criminal elements that must be established, the penal sanctions prescribed, and the evidentiary challenges encountered in practice. The findings indicate that the regulatory framework has become more comprehensive following the enactment of UU PDP; however, its implementation remains hampered by significant obstacles particularly in identifying anonymous perpetrators, establishing mens rea, and ensuring inter-agency coordination. The study concludes that the effectiveness of criminal accountability in personal data dissemination cases requires strengthened digital forensics capacity among law enforcement actors and clearer technical guidance on UU PDP implementation.

Abstract

Domestic violence (KDRT) constitutes a distinctive category of crime in that it unfolds within private spaces yet produces serious consequences for victims, families, and broader society. Law Number 23 of 2004 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence (UU PKDRT) was enacted as a legislative response to the limitations of the Criminal Code (KUHP) in addressing offenses committed within domestic settings. This paper examines how UU PKDRT constructs the criminal qualification of domestic violence, analyzes the penal sanctions it prescribes, and evaluates the extent to which this legal instrument provides meaningful protection to victims. A normative juridical method is employed, drawing on statutory and conceptual approaches. The analysis reveals that UU PKDRT introduces a significant expansion of the KDRT definition beyond mere physical violence to encompass psychological, sexual, and neglect-based harm. Nevertheless, its implementation continues to face considerable obstacles, including social stigma that discourages victim reporting, inconsistent interpretation among law enforcement actors, and the inherent tension between punitive criminal sanctions and the victim's restorative needs. The paper concludes that the effectiveness of UU PKDRT depends heavily on the coherent interplay of consistent law enforcement, sustained victim support, and broader public legal literacy.

Abstract

The accumulation of minor criminal offense (tipiring) cases represents a persistent structural problem within Indonesia's criminal justice system. This study examines the mechanisms by which restorative justice (RJ) is applied to tipiring cases at Grobogan District Police (Polres Grobogan), the challenges encountered by investigators, and a comparative evaluation of RJ's effectiveness against formal prosecution. An empirical juridical approach with a qualitatively dominant mixed-method design was employed. Data were gathered from 45 purposively selected case files (out of 180 cases handled in 2022-2024), eight key informant interviews, field observations, and focus group discussions. Findings reveal that 71.1% of tipiring cases were resolved via RJ in an average of 14.3 days, compared to 127.8 days through formal channels. Victim satisfaction averaged 4.2 out of 5 under the RJ track versus 3.1 for formal procedures, and one-year recidivism rates were markedly lower (8.3% vs. 22.7%). Core challenges include the absence of standardized internal SOPs, insufficient formal RJ training among active investigators, residual retributive orientations among some victims, and inadequate post-agreement monitoring. The study concludes that RJ implementation at Polres Grobogan is comparatively effective, though it requires systematic strengthening through internal regulatory development, investigator capacity-building, and more robust oversight mechanisms.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has created new avenues for fraudulent conduct that far exceeds the reach of conventional criminal law. Digital-based fraud encompassing phishing, social engineering, online shopping scams, and fraudulent investment schemes disguised as digital platforms shows a consistently rising trend and inflicts enormous financial losses on Indonesian society. This study examines how Indonesian criminal law constructs liability for digital fraud, particularly through the Criminal Code (KUHP), Law Number 11 of 2008 as amended by Law Number 19 of 2016 on Electronic Information and Transactions (UU ITE), and Law Number 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection. A normative juridical method is employed, using statutory and conceptual approaches. The analysis reveals that conventional fraud provisions in the Criminal Code are insufficient to capture the unique characteristics of digital fraud, while UU ITE offers more relevant penal provisions yet leaves interpretive uncertainties regarding key elements of the offense. Key challenges identified include difficulties in proving elements of deception and criminal intent in digital contexts, perpetrator anonymity, and insufficient inter-agency coordination in handling cross-border cases. The study recommends strengthened digital investigative capacity, uniform juridical interpretation of digital fraud offense elements, and enhanced technical implementation regulations.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of dance studio management in Public Senior High Schools (SMAN) and Islamic Senior High Schools (MAN) in Pekanbaru City. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and the CIPPO evaluation model, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation in five schools: SMAN 10, SMAN 6, SMAN 4, MAN 2, and MAN 3 Pekanbaru. Informants included principals, advisors, instructors, and student members. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, conclusion drawing, and triangulation. The findings show that dance studio management is generally moderately effective. Stronger effectiveness appears in schools with clear goals, stable trainers, written planning, regular practice, adequate facilities, and systematic evaluation. Weaknesses are found in event-based programs with limited funding, inadequate facilities, unstable schedules, and poor documentation. The study concludes that managerial commitment, policy support, resource stability, and schedule coordination are key to strengthening dance studios as spaces for talent development, cultural preservation, achievement, and character building.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a significant role in promoting economic growth, employment generation, and regional development, particularly in border areas that serve as strategic gateways for cross-border economic activities. However, MSMEs in border regions often face challenges related to limited infrastructure, restricted market access, low technological adoption, and increasing competition within integrated regional markets. This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening the competitiveness of MSMEs in driving economic growth in border areas within the context of the digital era and regional market integration. The research employs a literature review approach by examining relevant scholarly articles, books, institutional reports, and conference proceedings published between 2015 and 2025. The findings indicate that digital transformation is a critical factor in enhancing MSME competitiveness through improved market access, operational efficiency, innovation, and customer engagement. Furthermore, regional market integration provides opportunities for MSMEs to participate in broader markets and regional value chains, thereby increasing their growth potential. However, realizing these benefits requires supportive policies, digital infrastructure development, financial inclusion, entrepreneurial capacity building, and collaborative governance involving multiple stakeholders. The study concludes that strengthening MSME competitiveness through digitalization and regional integration is essential for fostering sustainable economic growth, improving regional connectivity, and enhancing the economic resilience of border communities
