Abstract

The 95th National Situation Report revealed that The Gambia has 61 confirmed cases, 27 recoveries, and 3 died as of July 5, 2020. Cases are mostly imported with few local transfers. COVID-19 has now gone beyond health crisis which required a holistic coordination approach to curb the virus lessons learned from countries. The fight is an all-inclusive networking approach to curb the spread. The research objective is to map out government social networking and teamwork preparedness and responding to COVID-19. The methodology of the research is a qualitative approach through online literature reviewing newspapers, reports, and articles. The secondary source of data was also harvested from the Gambia National COVID-19 Response Plan 2020. This mapping aims to identify and know partnership collaboration and interaction as a team working towards the objectives and goal for preparedness and response to prevent repetition of efforts. Social Networking Analysis (SNA) becomes a tool for social network limelight showing the connection for coordination, interaction, communication on common interests, shared values, financial exchanges, and standard operating procedures against the implementation of COVID-19 programs. There will be the maximisation of duplication of resources and efforts and informed decisions on who is doing what, where, when, and how.

Abstract

Globally, mathematics has always been perceived as a challenging subject, thus students across schooling levels have disliked mathematics leading to the feeling of anxiety towards the subject. This study investigated students’ mathematics anxiety levels across gender and grade (Grade 6 of elementary school and 4th Year of High School) in the south central part of the Philippines. The Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Anxiety Scale (FSMAS) was employed to examine the levels of mathematics anxiety of 6,672 elementary and secondary students from the seven school divisions in Region XII. The data were analysed by independent-sample t-test using SPSS 20. The results showed that there was a significant gender difference in terms of their anxiety towards mathematics. The results also indicated a significant difference on the anxiety levels between grade 6 and 4th Year of High School students, with grade 6 having the higher anxiety level compared to 4th year high school students. It is recommended to extend the study to different groups of students in different school levels using a more complex modelling and statistical methods.

Abstract

Poverty is a condition in which someone is unable to fulfill his primary needs. Poverty is caused by low human resources, lack of access to capital, and low levels of productivity of goods and services. One indicator of reducing the poverty rate can be done by optimizing zakat funds. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the existence of zakat funds can reduce poverty. This is quantitative research that used secondary data, and the data was analyzed by using the panel data regression technique. The results showed that zakat has a significant negative effect on the poverty rate. The result implies that zakat can be used as an instrument of fiscal policy by district/city governments in combating poverty rate.

Abstract

Islamic Insurance agents as sharia human resources are the spearhead of the insurance industry. The improvement of the quality from sharia insurance agent which consist of: physical and health qualities, intellectual quality and spiritual quality must be maintained in order to have the ability to compete. Therefore, an analysis of the agent’s self-quality needs to be known more deeply to improve the competitiveness of human resources in order to be able to compete in the international arena. This study uses a qualitative method using Analysis Networking Process (ANP). Primary research data were obtained through interviews with agency branch leaders, Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and Indonesia Islamic Insurance Association (AASI), secondary data were obtained from literature studies. The result show that quality as a solution to increasing the competitiveness of Islamic insurance agents are: simultaneously there is an agreement among respondents regarding the priority order of Islamic insurance agents as much as 77 percent with the highest priority, it is spiritual quality; simultaneously there was an agreement among respondents regarding the priority order of alternative strategies for sharia insurance agents as much as 68 percent with the highest priority, it is training and education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test both direct and indirect hypotheses related to the determinants of environmentally responsible behavior and place attachment as a mediating variable in the ecotourism industry. Apart from local communities who must support eco-tourism activities in order to create sustainable ecotourism development, tourists must also give appreciation for environmental conservation activities in natural tourist destinations through various pro-environmental behaviors, collectively known as environmentally responsible behavior (ERB). 180 tourists visiting Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) in Sumatera, Indonesia were surveyed using convenience sampling technique. Structural Equation Modelling is used to determine the relationship between variables, encompassing analyses of direct and mediating effects. Of the three direct influence hypotheses, all of them are proven to have a significant effect. Meanwhile, the indirect effect of destination attractiveness on ERB through place attachments is proven to be insignificant. These findings suggest that the impact of place attachment to ERB is bigger than destination attractiveness, so ERB is better to be improved through place attachment than destination attractiveness.

Abstract

Cooperative learning has a long history in higher education, dating back thousands of years. Small groups are used in particular so that students can maximize their own and each other's learning. Cooperative learning, on the other hand, is more than just putting students in groups; it also involves adding fairness engagement into the group learning process. At Universitas Syiah Kuala, this study sought to determine the impact of free riding and social loafing on group conversation. Using genuine experimental design, a total of N=70 people were separated into one experimental class and one control class. The results revealed between the experimental group and the control group that in the experimental group, the subjects tended to rate and be judged by their group peers as optimum contributors (SCI = 1). This SCI of 1 means that group members contribute as they should, nothing more and nothing less. This indicates the absence of social loafing and free riding. Keywords: Cooperative learning, free riding, social loafing, group work.

Abstract

This qualitative research is aimed at analyzing taboo words spoken in one of the famous Acehnese comedy series, Eumpang Breuh. The data were taken from the episode Rumeh, from series one to series three, in which they are available on YouTube. The framework used was the one proposed by Gao (2013) who categorized taboo words into seven types: (1) bodily excretion, (2) death and diseases, (3) sex, (4) four-letter words, (5) swear words, (6) privacy, and (7) discriminatory language. The results revealed that there were 17 taboo words or phrases used and they are all categorized into the swear words type. Some utterances of swear words include “bangai troh u gue” (extremely stupid), “jak let bui‟ (chase after a pig), and “jeurawat ubee boh u” (a pimple as big as a coconut). Those examples reflect that the swear words used in the movies consist of insult, blasphemy, satire, threat, and judgment. Despite they are presented in an amusing way (i.e., jokes) in the movie series, taboo words should be avoided in social interactions in the Acehnese society because these words generate bad effects on the cultural norms. Keywords: Acehnese, taboo words, cultural norms, movie series.

Abstract

Information and advertisement of tourism places is essential so that visitors around the world know the lovely place to visit. This study aimed to map the distribution of tourism objects by using a Geographic Information System in Aceh Besar district. To reach this objective, a mapping of the distribution of tourism objects based on their type was carried out; the mapping of natural, cultural, and special interest attractions in Aceh Besar District. A qualitative descriptive method was employed in this study to determine the distribution of natural, cultural, and special interest tourism in Aceh Besar District. The map is used as a media presenter to describe and display the distribution of tourism attraction locations. Tourism object location data is obtained by taking the coordinates of the tourist attraction location using google maps or plotting to tourist sites using a tool in the form of a Global Positioning System (GPS) then superimposing the data onto a base map. From the results of taking coordinates using google maps, 63 coordinate points for tourist attraction locations and the remaining four tourism objects cannot be found on google maps. So direct plotting is carried out to take coordinates to tourist attraction locations. Based on the results of the map analysis, it can be concluded that 67 tourism objects were found in Aceh Besar District. The tourism objects are grouped by type; 51 natural attractions, six cultural attractions, and 10 special interest attractions spread over 18 of sub-districts in Aceh Besar district. Keywords: Mapping, Tourism objects, Geographic Information System , Aceh Besar District

Abstract

Dribbling is one type of skill that must be possessed by a football player. One indicator of the quality of a good football player is being able to show good dribbling skills when playing football. Based on theoretical studies, to be able to dribble well, a football player must have a good mentality; one of the mentalities needed when dribbling is to have good self-confidence. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between variables, namely self-confidence and dribbling skills. This research approach is quantitative with the type of correlational research. The population in this study was young players from the "Talenta Aceh" football academy, totaling 36 players. The measurement instruments used for the two variables are (1) the self-confidence instrument using a questionnaire developed by the author and (2) dribbling using the "Dribbling Test". The analysis of research data used the product-moment correlation formula which aimed to determine the correlation coefficient between the two variables. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between self-confidence and dribbling skills, with a correlation coefficient value (r = 0.56); based on the value of the correlation coefficient, self-confidence contributes 42.25% to dribbling skills. Keywords: Young player, football, self-confidence, dribbling.
