Abstract

The development of the Trados application for tourists visiting the Bira Beach area in Bulukumba Regency aims to streamline the booking process for accommodations, food, and transportation services through an Android-based mobile platform. This research follows a Research and Development (R&D) methodology and utilizes the Waterfall model for systematic application development, encompassing stages such as requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, and maintenance. The study involved interviews and questionnaires with tourists and local service providers to gather data on user needs and preferences. The application was developed using Java programming in Visual Studio Code and tested for functionality, usability, performance efficiency, and portability. Results showed the app meets ISO 25010 standards, with excellent usability (90%), satisfactory performance efficiency, and portability across different Android devices. Despite its success, the study acknowledges limitations such as the small sample size and the lack of real-time booking updates or third-party service integrations. Future research should focus on enhancing the app's functionality and expanding its user base to improve service delivery and user experience in tourism-related applications.

Abstract

Beef consumption in Indonesia increases every year, but this high demand triggers traders to cheat by selling meat that is not fit for consumption, such as rotten meat. This endangers public health and raises concerns, such as the case of the discovery of rotten meat in Makassar. To help people recognise the quality of beef, this research develops a beef quality detection application using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method with Edge Impulse Studio. This application was developed using a prototype model and Research and Development (R&D) method at the Electrical Engineering Laboratory of Makassar State University. Tests showed a model accuracy rate of 99% and test accuracy of 99.17%. Evaluation based on ISO 25010 includes four aspects: functional suitability reached 100% according to the validator lecturer, usability with 97% response proportion, performance efficiency with ±85% CPU usage and 83.3 MB memory, and portability which shows the application runs well on various Android versions. Compatibility was tested by running the application simultaneously with other applications, and the results remained optimal. This application provides a practical solution to detect beef quality quickly and accurately, helping people prevent health risks due to consumption of unfit meat.

Abstract

Tempeh fermentation tool designed with a hybrid system that combines PLN electricity and solar panels successfully optimizes energy use with a relatively low sensor error value, an average of less than 10%. This system is able to switch energy sources from solar panels to PLN electricity automatically based on the measured voltage, thus minimizing the risk of fermentation process failure. Testing of electricity consumption shows a consistent increase in consumption per hour, with a total power consumption of 1,997 kWh for 22 hours when using PLN electricity. This shows the efficiency and reliability of the tool in supporting the tempeh fermentation process in a more controlled and energy-efficient manner.

Abstract

The Kedung Putri Dam Irrigation Area is situated in the Purworejo Regency, Central Java Province. It is an irrigation system employed for agricultural production, although it is significantly distant from grid electrical supplies. Photovoltaic (PV) power plants, utilizing renewable energy sources, exhibit an average solar energy potential of 5.041 kWh/m2/day. The PV system was designed in six steps, from data collecting to performance evaluation. The method started with location data, meteorological data (solar irradiation and temperature), and the Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) panel energy consumption. PVsyst 7.2 calculates daily load capacity, size, and number of solar panels depending on local irradiation. This simulation models system performance using environmental conditions and outputs technical specifications, estimated energy production, and solar fraction. Based on the calculations, PVSyst modelling, and this paper's analysis, the following conclusions were obtained to meet the objectives: RTU panels at B.Ks.1, B.Kd.1, B.Kd.3, and B.Kd.7.Tg must have a minimum PV capacity of 300 Wp and a maximum of 450 Wp with 375 Ah; 12 V battery operation. SCC unit with 20 A load current and 600 W nominal operational power (24 V battery) is installed. Preliminary PVsyst software simulations show that the four locations average 415.125 kWh/year. The four locations utilise 400.5 kWh/year and average 71.5% performance. Average solar fraction ratio of four places is 68.5%; energy lost is 184.23 kWh/year. A thorough review of the PV system's performance shows that 300 Wp has a higher PR value than 450 Wp. The PV capacity has an average annual SF value of 0.685 across the four locations, indicating that the solar power system can supply 68.5% of the RTU panels' power, while 31.5% requires other energy sources or more batteries.

Abstract

Air is one of the sources of human life that can be obtained freely. Good or bad air quality can affect human health and activities. The brown sugar production process often causes air pollution that endangers the surrounding environmental conditions. Based on this problem, in this study, an air quality monitoring system and early warning of air pollution were made. This study focuses on air quality monitoring, namely by detecting the level of harmful gases in the air, equipped with a DHT11 sensor to determine temperature and humidity values, and an MQ-135 sensor to determine the content of harmful gases in the air. Then the value of each sensor data is uploaded to the cloud and monitored in real-time using the IoT Platform. The methods used were to design and manufacture hardware and software for monitoring air temperature and humidity and gas content in the air, calibrating the DHT11 sensor, and testing the performance of the MQ-135 sensor as well as testing the overall system performance. The results showed that the calibration of the DHT-11 sensor had an accuracy rate of 99.7% and an error rate of 0.3%, and the MQ-135 sensor was able to detect the gas content in the air optimally. The results of air quality monitoring in the brown sugar production process obtained that the value of the hazardous gas content exposed to the air is 2300 ppm (CO, CO2, NOx, PM10), From the results of this air quality monitoring, the pollutant gases produced from the production of brown sugar are declared to be poor air quality.   This air quality monitoring and air pollution early warning system can provide information about the air conditions around the brown sugar production area in real-time.

Abstract

Accurate monitoring of appliance-level energy consumption plays a pivotal role in advancing smart grid operations and residential energy usage optimization. Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) offers a non-invasive means to infer individual device usage from aggregated household electricity measurements, eliminating the need for dedicated sensors on each appliance. This study implements Gradient Boosting, specifically LightGBM, for multi-label appliance classification within NILM systems utilizing the public ECO dataset from a selected residential unit. Five essential household appliances: TV, lamp, kettle, fridge, and freezer were chosen, with three months of data used for training and one month for testing to ensure temporal consistency and generalization. Feature extraction was performed on 60-second windows of aggregated smart meter data, capturing statistical characteristics to enhance model learning. The proposed method demonstrated robust accuracy in appliance classification, with results of 93.66% for the fridge, 92.63% for the freezer, 99.60% for the kettle, 99.37% for the lamp, and 96.21% for the TV, demonstrating the effectiveness of Gradient Boosting for multi-label appliance detection within NILM systems using real-world data. This implementation contributes to the development of scalable, accurate NILM frameworks suitable for integration within smart grid and energy management applications.
