Abstract

Motivation is an essential factor that drives individuals to achieve their goals. For students, learning motivation plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of learning to reach academic success and future aspirations. One of the key factors influencing learning motivation is the communication pattern applied within the family. Each family has different communication dynamics, which may lead to variations in students’ learning motivation. This study aims to examine the influence of parents’ democratic communication patterns on students’ learning motivation at SMA Negeri 6 Jambi City. The research employed a quantitative approach with data collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the t-test assisted by SPSS software. The results show a significance value of 0.002 (<0.05) and a t-count of 3.251 (>2.000). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, indicating a significant influence of parents’ democratic communication patterns on students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

Truancy is a form of disciplinary violation that negatively affects the learning process and students’ character development. This phenomenon has become a concern at SMAN 10 Merangin, prompting this study to examine the relationship between self-control and students’ truancy behavior. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 49 grade XI students selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included normality, linearity, and Pearson Product Moment correlation tests. The findings revealed that truancy behavior was in the high category (69%), while students’ self-control was also high (73.55%). The correlation coefficient of -0.616 with a significance value of 0.000 indicated a negative and significant relationship between self-control and truancy. This means that the higher the students’ self-control, the lower their tendency to skip classes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the levels of self-compassion and learning anxiety, as well as the relationship between self-compassion and learning anxiety among students of SMA Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi. The research used a quantitative correlational method with a Simple Random Sampling technique involving 72 students from grades X, XI, and XII in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. The results showed that students’ self-compassion was in the high category (67%), while learning anxiety was in the moderate category (48%). The correlation test indicated a significant negative relationship between self-compassion and learning anxiety (r = -0.563, p < 0.05). This means that the higher the students’ self-compassion, the lower their learning anxiety. The findings imply that developing self-compassion through Guidance and Counseling services can be an effective strategy to reduce learning anxiety and enhance students’ psychological well-being.

Abstract

Bullying in schools negatively affects students’ emotional, social, and academic development. This study aims to develop a quartet card learning medium as an informational tool for bullying prevention among elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The product was validated by material experts, media experts, and teachers, and tested on fourth-grade students in small and large groups. Results indicated high feasibility, with scores of 93% from material experts, 88.75% from media experts, and 89% from teachers, as well as positive student responses of 94% and 97%. The medium effectively enhanced students’ understanding and awareness of bullying forms, impacts, and prevention. The study implies that quartet cards can serve as an alternative educational tool in guidance and counseling services and offers originality through a 3D-illustrated design aligned with students’ cognitive development stages.

Abstract

An unconducive classroom climate at SMAN 14 Jambi City has affected students’ motivation and participation in learning. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of content mastery services assisted by Smart Space media in improving classroom climate. Using a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design, the study involved 20 students of class X E5. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using normality and t-test analyses. The results showed a significant improvement in the classroom climate after the intervention, indicating that the integration of interactive digital media in guidance and counseling services effectively enhances the learning atmosphere. These findings highlight that technological innovation in counseling services can foster students’ cognitive, affective, and social development. It is recommended that guidance and counseling teachers systematically utilize digital media to build a positive classroom climate and support school policies that promote technology-based educational practices.
