Abstract

A seminar with the theme “Family Awareness in Inheritance: Improving Understanding of Islamic Inheritance Law in Society” was held in August 2025 at the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) of Tigaraksa District, Tangerang Regency, as part of the Independent Student Work Lecture (KKM) program of the Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic College (STiSNU). This activity was attended by 35 participants from various levels of society. The background to the implementation of this seminar was the still low understanding of some people regarding Islamic inheritance law, which often triggers problems and conflicts between families. The purpose of the seminar was to provide a comprehensive understanding of the concept, legal basis, and mechanism of inheritance distribution according to Islamic law, as well as to raise family awareness of the importance of justice and openness in the process. The methods used in the seminar included lectures, questions and answers, and case studies. The materials presented included: (1) the legal basis of Islamic inheritance based on the Qur'an and hadith, (2) the relationship between Islamic inheritance law and the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) in Indonesia, (3) identification of inheritance problems in society, and (4) strategies for building family awareness in resolving inheritance distribution. The seminar's results demonstrated the participants' high level of enthusiasm, evident in their active participation in the discussions and their increased understanding of the rights and obligations of heirs. The seminar concluded that increasing family awareness of Islamic inheritance law can minimize potential disputes, maintain family relationships, and ensure inheritance distribution in accordance with the principles of Islamic justice. It is hoped that similar activities can be conducted sustainably, involving more parties, to further enhance the spread of Islamic inheritance law literacy in society.

Through this seminar, the students are guided to understand the importance of setting intentions in seeking knowledge, maintaining decorum towards teachers and peers, and fostering a life vision aimed at earning the pleasure of Allah SWT. The delivery method is carried out in an educational, motivational, and interactive manner through lectures, question and answer sessions, and practical illustrations relevant to the children's lives. Thus, the material can be easily received, enjoyable, and memorable for the participants. Additionally, there has also been a growing motivation to be more serious in memorizing the Qur'an, improving their moral character, and preparing themselves for a better future. Abstract

This research and community program was conducted in August 2025 in Gintung Village, Sukadiri Sub-District, Tangerang Regency, with the objective of providing training to PKK members to enhance their understanding and optimize the management of Zakat, Infaq, and Sedekah (ZIS) to foster local economic empowerment. Currently, ZIS is often perceived solely as an individual religious obligation; however, when managed structurally and professionally, ZIS possesses significant potential to improve community welfare, particularly at the village level. Challenges encountered in the field include low public literacy regarding ZIS governance, a lack of transparency in its management, and the absence of utilization strategies oriented towards long-term economic empowerment. Through the seminars, participants gained an understanding of the fundamental principles of Sharia economics, the mechanisms for ZIS collection and distribution, and accountable and equitable management practices. Furthermore, insights were provided on how ZIS funds can be directed toward microenterprise development, skills enhancement for homemakers, and the establishment of community-based Sharia cooperatives. The outcomes of the activity indicate that PKK members demonstrate high enthusiasm and commitment to actively participating in the management of ZIS within their community. This training is expected to foster a village-based ZIS management model that can realize local economic independence, reduce community dependence on external assistance, and strengthen social solidarity.

Abstract

Zakat, as one of the pillars of Islam, plays a fundamental role in creating social justice and the welfare of the community. However, the understanding of the community, including the students, remains diverse and often limited to theoretical aspects, without optimal implementation. This research aims to enhance the understanding of the students, the management of the pesantren, and the surrounding community regarding the laws of zakat, the types of zakat, the provisions of Sharia, and the distribution methods in accordance with the guidelines of the Qur’an and Sunnah. The methods used are lectures, interactive discussions, and case studies on the implementation of zakat in pesantren. The results of the activities indicate an improvement in participants' understanding of zakat law and a growing collective awareness to implement zakat management in a more structured manner within the pesantren environment. A tangible impact of this seminar is the emergence of initiatives from the pesantren to establish an internal zakat management unit, simultaneously serving as an example for the surrounding community. With ongoing support as a follow-up, it is hoped that the pesantren can become a centre for zakat education that not only plays a role in educating but also actively contributes to the economic empowerment of the community

Abstract

This activity aims to enhance the understanding of the parents of students regarding the importance of family education as the main foundation for character development in children. The methods used include interactive seminars, group discussions, and Q&A sessions to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge. The results of the seminar show that participants gained new insights into the role of parents in educating children with an Islamic approach, the importance of healthy communication, and the synergy between home and pesantren. The impact of this activity includes increased awareness among parents, the formation of a commitment to improve parenting patterns, and readiness to cooperate with the pesantren. However, there are obstacles such as limited time for parents, low levels of Islamic parenting literacy, inconsistency in practices at home, and a less supportive social environment. Therefore, follow-up actions in the form of forming parenting communities, periodic training, collaboration with Islamic boarding schools, and practical assistance at home are proposed as follow-up strategies. With consistency and support from all parties, it is hoped that Muslim families can raise a generation of faithful, ethical individuals ready to face the challenges of the times

Abstract

The phenomenon of unofficial marriages still poses a serious challenge in Meral District, Karimun Regency. This practice, which is deemed valid according to religion, is often chosen as a quick and cheap alternative without considering the legal and social impacts, particularly for women and children. This research aims to analyze the role of the KUA (Office of Religious Affairs) in Meral District in minimizing the practice of unregistered marriages, identifying the obstacles faced, and formulating a more adaptive follow-up strategy. A qualitative approach is used through observations, in-depth interviews with religious counselors, community leaders, couples in unregistered marriages, and analysis of official KUA documents. The research findings indicate that the main obstacles include limited human resources, inadequate educational facilities, strong cultural influences, and low legal literacy among the community. The proposed strategic recommendations include increasing and strengthening the capacity of religious counselors, digitizing educational materials, implementing contextual cultural-based approaches, and enhancing cross-sector collaboration with schools, community health centers, and village authorities. These efforts are expected to gradually raise legal awareness and reduce the practice of unregistered marriages, thereby better ensuring the protection of women's and children's rights.

Abstract

The revitalization program of the Taklim Assembly at the Mushola Nurul Iman Bukit Gading is a community service effort aimed at reinvigorating the spirit of the congregation, particularly the male members, in religious study sessions and enhancing religious awareness in the village of Cangkudu, Balaraja District, Tangerang Regency. The activities are conducted over eight weeks using interactive seminar methods and participatory discussions. This approach is chosen to address the issues of declining congregation participation, monotonous study methods, and the lack of relevance of topics discussed to the needs of the congregation. The evaluation results show an increase in the attendance of congregants from an average of 24 people before the program to 42 people after the program. The scores for religious understanding also significantly increased from an average of 62 to 84 on a scale of 100. The highest increase occurred in the understanding of the father's role in the family (38%), followed by the management of Sharia finance (32%), and value-based emotional management (29%). Positive impacts are also seen in the behavioral changes of congregants at home and the increase in religious-based social activities in the surrounding area of the mosque. The limitations of facilities and the variation in work schedules of the congregation are the main obstacles in the implementation of this program. Therefore, follow-up actions such as strengthening facilities, digital training for the administrators, and the preparation of simple learning modules are recommended to support the sustainability of the program.
