Abstract

This preliminary study explores the hot springs in Padang Ganting, Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, at coordinates 00°34'8.404" S - 100°42'45.716" E and 0°31'26.431" S - 100°45'27.598" E. The research was conducted using geological and geochemical methods in the geothermal field. The collected data includes coordinates of the area, temperature, and pH of the hot springs. The results show a pH distribution ranges from 6 to 7 at several points of the hot springs, with slightly brackish characteristics, and the temperature of the hot springs ranges from 41°C to 51°C. The immature meteoric hot springs originate from the granite formation, indicating the possibility of magma intrusion to the surface, possibly caused by the oroclinal shear segment in the upper part of the Ombilin basin. This study provides a basis for further geological investigations into the geothermal potential and prospects for further development in the geothermal field, contributing to understanding the geological processes in the region.

Abstract

Higher Education Institutions are trying to contribute to take part in addressing environmental sustainability issues to answer challenges and reduce the impact of environmental damage. Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta implemented the Green Campus Program to create an environmentally friendly and sustainable higher education environment. This study aims to analyze the role of students in efforts to support the sustainability of the Green Campus Program at Universitas Sebelas Maret. The research method used is descriptive with a mix method approach that involves 120 UNS students as randomly selected respondents spread across various levels and faculties. Data was collected through a questionnaire based on UI Green Metric categories. The results of this study indicate that 82% of students obtained “Strongly Support” in playing a role in supporting the sustainability of the Green Campus Program. Students show their role in contributing proactively and taking full initiative based on UI Green Metric categories related to environmental issues at the University. Students have an important role as agents of change in environmental sustainability on campus. These findings are expected to provide insights for universities in maximizing student involvement for the improvement and success of the Green Campus Program.

Spatial ability is an important spatial intelligence possessed by geography education students. with this ability, students' thinking can develop while learning geography. The characters of spatial ability of students differ from one another. In this research the researcher will discuss the character of the spatial ability of geography education students, amounting to 27 students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Characteristics of students' spatial ability are seen from the results of tests on basic cartography courses. The test was made with 12 essay questions with criterion questions from the cognitive domain according to Taxonomy Bloom. Of the six cognitive criteria, three criteria were taken, namely remember, understand, and apply. The results on the criteria remember all students can answer correctly, then on the criteria to understand the average value has decreased by 17, and the criteria to apply the average value to 13.

Besides, not only by studying civics knowledge anyone can improve their nationality insight, but also from other knowledge, such as by learning geography science. Understanding the environment is one of the scopes in geography science. Understanding the environment can possibbly to increase the nationality insight. This research aims to applying geo-literacy as a study method, so the student can improve their ability to understand the earth. The subject of this research is the 4th semester student of Geography Education Department, Faculty of Social Science Universitas Negeri Manado. Analyzing data is based on the calculation of the percentage of results of filling out questionnaires by respondents. The questionnaires formed by the author from literature study from the syntax of geo-literacy method (from the National Geographic Magazine) combine with the indicator of nationalism in the document of nationality by Lembaga Administrasi Negara Republik Indonesia. By applying geo-literacy as a study method in geography education, the majority of students strongly agree that geo-literacy has the ability to strenghtening student’s knowledge to know the world (by applying geographical approach) and make the best decision for the environment.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in all parts of the world has had an impact on the various sectors. Not only in the economic sector but also in the educational sector. Until Month June Year 2020, the Indonesian government had carried out a new-normal policy. The purpose of the study was to analyze the affordability of the Covid-19 referral hospital to the position of students during the new-normal era. The affordability could be observed by the distance traveled by students to the nearest Covid-19 referral hospital.  This study used the OD matrix layer from ArcMap 10.3. The sample used in this study was 87 students with 11 Covid-19 referral hospitals in East Nusa Tenggara Province. Based on the research results in the form of maps produced, showed that from 87 students observed, only 59 or 67.82% could reach the Covid-19 referral hospitals.  Meanwhile, the other 28 students or 32.18% couldn’t be reached by the hospitals. The amount of students observed, located less than 15 km from the Covid-19 referral hospitals were 35 or 40.22% from the total of 87 students. The hospital which students refer to based on their location was the WZ. Yohanes hospital.

Abstract

This study aims to determine 1) the mangrove vegetation density index, 2) the health of mangrove plants in Sungai Batang Village to Kuala Secapah. The data used in this study is the image of Sentinel-2A, dated June 8, 2020. The data taken are vegetation density (NDVI) and mangrove health. The method in this study uses the vegetation index transformation (NDVI). Data analysis used the supervised classification method and the vegetation density index (NDVI). The results showed that the NDVI value of -1 – 0.32 indicates a sparse vegetation density, a value of 0.33 – 0.42 indicates a medium density and 0.43 – 1 indicates a dense density. From this NDVI index value, it can be used as a basis for classifying the health of mangrove vegetation. The health of mangrove vegetation based on the vegetation index value of 0.43 – 1 (meet) indicates that the health of the mangrove vegetation is very good. Vegetation value 0.33 – 0.42 (moderate) indicates good health of mangrove vegetation and vegetation index value -1 – 0.32 (rare) indicates poor vegetation health. Mangrove health level is very good with an area of 3.0314 km2, healthy has an area of 0.204806 km2 and poor health has an area of 0.625875 km2.

Abstract

The large number of people who occupy, control, and cultivate areas in conservation forest areas illegally, for subsistence or commercial purposes without paying attention to statutory regulations, is a problem in the Watu Ata Nature Reserve. Even though the government already has a social forestry program that collaborates with communities regarding forest management. This research aims to determine the location, and factors that influence the occurrence of illegal land use in the Watu Ata nature reserve area, Bajawa District, Ngada Regency. The sample used a spatial sample, namely locations of illegal land use and 60 squatter communities. This research method uses multiple regression analysis and spatial interpolation. The results of this research show that economic factors, social factors, and environmental factors influence the impact of encroachment. The low level of illegal occupation is in Langagedha Village and the high level is in Wawowae Village and Jawameze Village. Recommendations from this research are that Wawowae Village, with an area of 132.77 hectares in Wawowae Village can be used as a location for social forestry.
