Abstract

Stunting in toddlers is still a global problem that has a serious impact on the social and economic aspects of society. The increase in the number of stunting cases that are not treated causes the condition of toddlers to worsen. This is caused by the health beliefs and psychological condition of the caregiver. This research aims to analyze the relationship between health beliefs psychological conditions and treatment-seeking behavior. This research design uses correlational analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The independent variables are health beliefs and psychological conditions, while the dependent variable is treatment-seeking behavior. This research was conducted in the Keling II Community Health Center Working Area, Jepara Regency in January 2025. A sample of 100 caregivers of stunted toddlers was taken using a purposive sampling technique according to certain criteria. The research instruments used the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (BIPQ-8), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and General Help-Seeking Questionnaire (GHSQ). Data analysis used the chi-square test. The research results show that there is a significant relationship between health beliefs and treatment-seeking behavior in caregivers of stunting toddlers with a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient value (r = 0.417), and there is a significant relationship between psychological conditions and treatment seeking behavior with a value of p < 0.001 (p < 0.05) with a moderate correlation coefficient (r = 0.420). Health beliefs and psychological conditions of care givers shape treatment-seeking behavior. There is a need for intervention to improve treatment-seeking behavior by increasing health beliefs and the psychological condition of caregivers.

Abstract

Elderly individuals with diabetes mellitus often face challenges in managing their disease, which requires a high level of self-efficacy to consistently maintain a healthy lifestyle. Self-efficacy is crucial in managing diabetes treatment among elderly patients. Family support plays a significant role in helping elderly individuals with diabetes improve their self-efficacy or confidence in performing self-care activities. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and self-efficacy in managing diabetes mellitus among the elderly at Health Center A. This research used a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 114 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were validated and reliable questionnaires, namely the Family Support Questionnaire and the Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test. The cross-tabulation results between family support and self-efficacy showed that among those who received good family support, the majority—45 respondents (69.23%)—had good self-efficacy, and half—24 respondents (50%)—had moderate self-efficacy.Meanwhile, among those who received poor family support, nearly half—20 respondents (30.77%)—had good self-efficacy, half—24 respondents (50%)—had moderate self-efficacy, and one respondent (100%) had low self-efficacy.Based on the Spearman’s rho test, a p-value of 0.024 (< 0.05) was obtained, indicating a significant relationship between family support and self-efficacy in elderly individuals managing diabetes mellitus at Health Center A in 2025.It is expected that families will continue to provide support to patients, thereby improving their self-efficacy.

Abstract

The presence of fathers in children's lives, especially during adolescence, is one of the protective factors that can prevent children from risky behavior, including negative adolescent attitudes towards sexual behavior. This study aims to measure the relationship between father's presence and adolescents' attitudes towards sexual behavior. The research design used descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at a high school in Kudus Regency in 2024. The research sample was 96 students through purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used the Father Presence Questionnaire (FPQ) and the adolescent attitude towards sexual behavior questionnaire which had been valid and reliable. Data analysis using chi square test. The results showed that the majority of adolescents had a positive attitude towards sexual behavior (56.3%). In addition, the majority of adolescents who had high father presence also showed positive attitudes towards sexual behavior (61.1%). However, there was no significant relationship between father's presence and adolescents' attitude towards sexual behavior (p = 0.276). Father's presence in childcare needs to be increased to achieve a good mental health condition in adolescents. Future research is expected to evaluate interventions that can improve the role of fathers in parenting adolescents.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is the most challenging public health problem in the 21st century. This disease is classified as chronic, and its treatment is a challenge for the global health care system. The increasing prevalence of DM is a side effect of the transformation of life. The rise in DM complications has a serious impact on the quality of life of DM clients. Complications of this disease continue to worsen the client's condition if they do not receive appropriate intervention, leading to dysfunction in almost every organ of the body. DM complications account for the largest portion of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program's medical expenses. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of a combination of foot care and massage on symptoms of peripheral neuropathy in DM clients. The research design used a quasi-experimental pre-posttest with a control group. The independent variable is a combination of foot care and massage, while the dependent variable is the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. This study was conducted on diabetes mellitus in April 2025. The study sample consisted of 14 DM clients for each intervention and control group, using a purposive sampling technique based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument used was 10 g monofilament. Combination therapy foot care and massage are given 3 times per week for 2 weeks, with a duration of 25-30 minutes per session. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the study showed that there was a combined effect of foot care and massage on symptoms of peripheral neuropathy in DM clients with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Combination therapy/foot care and massage has a positive effect in reducing symptoms of peripheral neuropathy in DM clients. Follow-up is needed to integrate this combination therapy with community health activities, especially for DM clients.
