Abstract

Pain due to labor contraction will cause discomfort therefore pain management is needed to avoid negative effects on both mothers and fetuses. There are some methods in pain management. Pharmacological method has side effects meanwhile non-pharmacological method is more efficient and has minimal side effects. Massage is a non-pharmacological method which may overcome the pain of delivery (p <0.05). There is an easy method to use and support the delivery assistance for Mother’s Day Care, namely Circular Hip and Knee Press Massage. The aim of this study is to know the effectiveness of Circular Hip Massage and Knee Press Massage on the intensity of labor pain with the experimental quasi design. Thr research subjects were 52 pregnant mothers in March to July 2018 at the Maternity Home (RB) and Practice Midwives (BPM) in the Kudus Regency.. Based on the Wilcoxon test, the Circular Hip and Knee Press Massage methods are effective to overcome the pain of delivery (p <0.05). From Mann-Whitney Test can be concluded that there is a difference in the effectiveness of Circular Hip and Knee Press Massage on the Intensity change of labor Pain. The intensity change of labor Pain with Circular Hip Massage (CHM) is 0.9, median of 1 (SD 0.445). Meanwhile, the intensity change of labor Pain with Knee Press Massage (KPM) is 0.38, median of 0.5 (SD 0.697). The results of the study are expected to be a reference for the development of scientific health knowledge for mothers and children related to labor pain management.

Abstract

Abstract

Adolescent girls are susceptible to anemia. This is because the body experiences rapid growth, high physical activity and menstruation begins so that the body requires a high intake of nutrients, especially protein and iron. If iron needs are not met it can cause anemia. The Aisyiyah Kudus Orphanage accommodates 43 teenage girls aged 10-19 years. Daily food intake is provided by the orphanage which organizes food on a self-managed basis, with a 7 day menu cycle with 3 meal times. However, the menu provided is less balanced, especially the breakfast menu which does not contain vegetables and lacks animal side dishes. Limited budget and cooking power, as well as children's appetites that don't like vegetables, are factors causing the presentation of this menu. Training on preparing healthy menus for managers and youth anemia education for children in orphanages is carried out to improve the skills of managers in preparing healthy menus, serving them practically, and in accordance with the budget, as well as increasing teenagers' understanding of anemia and how to prevent it, so that they can consume healthy food menus that orphanage provided. The methods used are lectures, discussions and demonstrations. Activities were carried out for two days in the Aisyiyah Kudus Orphanage Hall. After participating in the activity, the participants' level of knowledge about anemia increased. Apart from that, there has also been an increase in managers' skills in preparing menus and making processed animal side dishes. It is necessary to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the new menu that has been prepared and its acceptance by orphanage youth.

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) contributes about 60-80% of neonatal mortality. Factors such as gestational age and maternal nutritional status are among of the causes of LBW. Reducing infant mortality rate (IMR) is an essential indicator of a country’s success in improving public health. The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence of LBW based on gestational age and maternal nutritional status at PKU Muhammadiyah Tegal hospital. This study was analytical and retrospective approach. The study population includes all mothers who gave birth at PKU Muhammadiyah Tegal hospital in July 2023 on 41 respondents. Data collection involves secondary data and statistically analyzed using chi square test. Result of the study found that from the respondents, 21 (51.2%) experienced preterm births (37 weeks), while 22 (53.7%) were diagnosed with Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) with Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) 23.5 cm. LBW occurred in 28 cases (68.3%). Chi-square analysis revealed a significant correlation between gestational age and LBW at Muhammadiyah Tegal PKU Hospital (p-value=0.010, OR: 7.773). Similarly, LBW occurrence based on maternal nutritional status also exhibited a significant relationship (p-value=0.004, OR: 15.000), indicating that pregnant women with CED have a 15 times higher risk of experiencing LBW compared to non-CED pregnant women

Abstract

Background: The majority of cesarean section deliveries use spinal anesthesia which can have an effect on the deterioration of the gastrointestinal system so that intestinal peristalsis becomes slow. Slow intestinal peristaltic function leads to difficulty defecation and prolongs the day of treatment, in some cases can increase the risk of paralytic ileus. To prevent the risk of complications, intervention can be carried out in postoperative cesarean section patients with early mobilization. This study aims to determine the effect of early mobilization on intestinal peristaltic recovery in post- cesarean section patients. Subjects and Method: This was a quasy experiment conducted at Islamic Hospital in Demak, Central Java, from July to December 2024. A sample of 58 post-cesarean section mothers was selected using purposive sampling and divided into two groups. Assessment of intestinal peristaltic variables through auscultation examination with a stethoscope and early mobilization using observation sheet instruments. Intestinal peristaltic recovery between two groups were examined logistic regression. Results: There was a difference in intestinal peristaltic recovery in post- cesarean section patients between the intervention group and the control group (p=0.000) with the mean value of intestinal peristalsis in the intervention group of 25.45 (SD=6.07) and in the control group of 11.38 (SD=7.69). Patients who were given early mobilization had a 4.48 times faster chance of recovery of intestinal peristalsis. Conclusion: Early mobilization had a positive impact on the recovery of intestinal peristaltic (p<0.05). Health workers should not only provide education, but also assistance in the implement-tation of early mobilization, especially in the first 24 hours post- cesarean section. Keywords: early mobilization, intestinal peristaltics, post cesarean section.

Abstract

The presence of fathers in children's lives, especially during adolescence, is one of the protective factors that can prevent children from risky behavior, including negative adolescent attitudes towards sexual behavior. This study aims to measure the relationship between father's presence and adolescents' attitudes towards sexual behavior. The research design used descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at a high school in Kudus Regency in 2024. The research sample was 96 students through purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used the Father Presence Questionnaire (FPQ) and the adolescent attitude towards sexual behavior questionnaire which had been valid and reliable. Data analysis using chi square test. The results showed that the majority of adolescents had a positive attitude towards sexual behavior (56.3%). In addition, the majority of adolescents who had high father presence also showed positive attitudes towards sexual behavior (61.1%). However, there was no significant relationship between father's presence and adolescents' attitude towards sexual behavior (p = 0.276). Father's presence in childcare needs to be increased to achieve a good mental health condition in adolescents. Future research is expected to evaluate interventions that can improve the role of fathers in parenting adolescents.
