Abstract

Background: Pre-procedural anxiety in esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) patients can negatively impact cooperation and physiological stability, increasing procedural risks. This study evaluated the AVOGADO intervention, integrating audiovisual education and spiritual support, to reduce anxiety and stabilize hemodynamic parameters. Methods: A Pre-Intervention Study was conducted on a 45-year-old male with chronic dyspepsia and moderate-to-severe anxiety (HAM-A > 25). The intervention was administered two days prior to the procedure. Anxiety levels were assessed using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), and hemodynamic parameters, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, were measured at four time points: three days, two days, one day before, and on the day of the procedure. Result: Anxiety decreased significantly, with HAM-A scores dropping from 26 (moderate-to-severe) to 10 (mild). Hemodynamic parameters improved, with blood pressure reduced from 150/90 mmHg to 130/82 mmHg and heart rate from 98 bpm to 80 bpm. Oxygen saturation remained stable. Conclusion: The AVOGADO intervention effectively reduced anxiety and improved physiological stability in a pre-EGD patient. This simple, holistic approach offers promise for broader application in reducing anxiety in medical procedures. Further research with larger samples is recommended.

Abstract

In a tropical country like Indonesia, renowned for its two seasons (rainy and dry season), a transitional period is observed between these seasons, aptly referred to as the transition season. During this transitional phase, the Aedes mosquito rapidly breeds, laying its eggs. Sunlight enhances this process, warming the air and puddles, thereby contributing to the hatching of eggs and potentially causing an endemic outbreak of dengue fever. This study aims to explore the experiences of individuals in overcoming nausea and vomiting during dengue fever. Employing a phenomenological qualitative research design, the research involves 7 participants selected through purposive sampling. The research process includes bracketing, intuition, analysis, and the generation of descriptions and interpretations. Bracketing is undertaken to ensure that the information gathered is genuinely natural and derived from participants' direct expressions regarding their experiences in handling nausea and vomiting during dengue fever. In the intuition stage, the researcher strives to recognize and understand the phenomenon under study. The data is analyzed using qualitative content analysis with the Collaizi approach, involving stages such as reading and re-reading collected data, selecting keywords through coding, categorizing identified keywords, grouping meanings into themes, creating a provisional narrative, validating the narrative with participants, and finally, presenting the validated narrative as the final study output. The research reveals several findings: Nausea and feeling unwell are likened to catching a cold; nausea intensifies in response to specific smells or food aromas; respondents can only consume small portions; and notably, respondents alleviate sickness by drinking warm water. During dengue, feelings of weakness compel participants to maintain an intense but small food intake to sustain energy. Nausea and vomiting experiences are not uniformly perceived as uncomfortable by respondents, and when contemplating the use of warm water to relieve nausea, considerations must be made regarding its safety and potential unknown side effects.

Abstract

Background: The global prevalence of sleep quality disorders ranges from 15,3% to 39,2%. According to Indonesian data, as much as 63% of adolescents' sleep quality needs have not been met. Poor sleep quality will result from excessive device use throughout the day. Sleep deprivation can affect sleep patterns and interfere with social interactions. Methods: This quantitative study uses a correlation approach and data collection techniques for gadget addiction scales, namely the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) and Sleep Quality Scale (SQS). The subjects of this study were 48 students of Central Java State Vocational Schools in Purbalingga. The sampling technique of this study used total sampling for data analysis techniques using non-parametric analysis techniques, namely Spearman rho analysis. Results: A correlation value of p = 0.00 < 0.05 means that H0 is not accepted. The correlation coefficient between the two variables is equal to 0.744. So it can be interpreted that there is a strong relationship between gadget addiction and sleep quality among adolescents. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between gadget addiction and sleep quality in adolescents.

Abstract

Background. Analysis of nursing data has been carried out manually based on the knowledge and experience of nurses with the main reference being the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (SDKI). This has limitations, namely that the nursing diagnosis determined is not comprehensive and requires a relatively long time to validate with the SDKI. Even though the hospital has Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) for documentation of nursing care, the selection of nursing diagnoses is still manual and there are no tools for nurses to analyze nursing data based on the SDKI at the early stages of the nursing process. Therefore, it is important to develop nursing data analysis tools that can be accessed online. Methods. The aim of this research is to develop a website to automate nursing data analysis. The design of this research is the waterfall method which consists of communication, planning, modeling, construction and deployment. Results. The research results show that the website-based tool for nursing data analysis can be accessed via https://bit.ly/ramutnursingdataanalysis or https://rnda.ramut.my.id. Conclusion. Website-based tool for nursing data analysis can be accessed and used by nurses anywhere and at any time to analyze nursing data so that nurses can determine nursing problems more quickly and precisely according to the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards.
